It is the member’s responsibility to be sure to see an in-network provider and that any procedures/ surgeries are completed at an in-network facility.
A referral from your primary care provider (PCP) DOES NOT ensure in-network coverage. Please contact us if your PCP has referred you to an out-of-network provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I go to an out-of-network provider?
Depending on your individual plan, if you receive care from a provider or hospital outside the network you will be responsible for a larger portion of the cost and the charges will go toward your separate out-of-network deductible. This is true even if your primary care provider referred you to someone outside the network. If this happens, contact Ridgeview Community Network before scheduling this appointment and we will find an in-network option. If there is not an in-network option, we will authorize the out-of-network services to be processed as in-network.
I received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my health plan that says my recent visit with an in-network provider was processed as out-of-network. What should I do?
If you receive an EOB that you think is incorrect, contact Ridgeview Community Network and we will work with the health plan to correct if needed. Call 952-442-7860.
My child is away at college. Where can he or she receive care?
All emergency care is covered as in-network regardless of location. Urgent Care is covered at an in-network level for some plans, but not all. There are also convenience care and virtual care options that are in-network.
For non urgent, primary care options: If your dependent child is outside of Medica’s service are (Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin), they can receive in-network coverage by visiting a provider in Medica’s travel program network - visit medica.com/find-a-doctor/group/travel-program. If your dependent child is outside Ridgeview Community Network’s service area but within Medica’s service area (for example, Duluth or Mankato), if they see an out-of-network provider, those claims will go toward their out-of-network deductible. Their in-network options include coming back to see their primary care provider or if appropriate, they could utilize virtual care: Ridgeviewecare.com.

The following services are examples that require an Ridgeview Community Network authorization due to not having an in-network option. The provider’s office or the patient needs to contact Ridgeview Community Network for authorization/referral to be placed directly to insurance plan.
