Powderpuff Highlights

The Regina Mambas had a very impressive showing against Marian on September 14th, winning for the eighth year in a row. With a final score of 27-10 and a seventeen-point lead at halftime, the Class of 2025 kept their foot on the gas throughout the entire game.

Regina had a spectacular performance on offense, but there were a few stars among them: running back Sabrina Sokol had one hundred fifty-four rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, along with a field goal and three extra points as a kicker. Quarterback Gabriella Manion went three for five on pass attempts with eighty-two passing yards and a touchdown, caught by tight end Sara Wilking.

Regina’s offense was solid, but they had a tenacious defense to back them up. Linebacker Megan Grzywacz made nine tackles and broke up one pass, while cornerback Isabel Vidro made six tackles and broke up two passes. The Mambas had been practicing for eight weeks before the big game, which is apparent after watching their performance on the 14th. Their hard work has definitley paid off with the honor of keeping the trophy at Regina for the eighth year in a row!

SEPTEMBER 2024

A Night Under The Sea

After hearing Regina was doing an “under the sea” theme for homecoming, I knew that I would have to attend. I am so glad I did; this year’s homecoming scene was absolutely magical! After seeing the glowing, shell-filled centerpieces on every table, I immediately fell in love with them. I absolutely had to take one home for Flounder. The fishnet and blue satin tablecloths made me feel like I was right back home in Atlantica. Close to these gorgeously decorated tables was the drink station, which was serving a delicious mermaid punch. It was absolutely delicious and gave me lots of energy to dance with everyone! The aquatic-themed balloon decorations lining the dance floor perfectly set the tone for the night. After a couple hours of dancing and eating from the delicious tater-tot bar, I wanted a souvenir to remember the night. Thankfully there was a 360-degree camera and a photo stand, complete with a gorgeous, shell-covered backdrop! I left the homecoming dance with so many great memories. Though I was happy to go home, I had a blast at Regina’s Under the Sea themed homecoming!

A: I also teach psychology, and I do really enjoy music. My favorite band is the Goo Goo Dolls.

Q: If you could perform with any musician, who would it be and why?

A: I think it would be really fun to play in a band directed by John Philip Sousa, he was the original founder of the Marine Marching Band.

Q: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

A: I would say a frog because it's really cute to go make other little swamp friends!

Q: Who would play you in a movie of your life?

A: I would say Chappell Roan to pull off the sarcasm!

Q: What inspired your interest in teaching?

A: I would say my two teachers before high school showed me that learning could be really fun instead of lectures, so it was like a combination of the two of them showing me that we can be engaged and still look at things academically while having fun.

Q: What is your best joke?

A: I prefer memes over jokes actually!

Sisters By Chance

Friends By Choice

On September 6, Regina had its annual Little Sister-Big Sister Breakfast. The Big-Little Sister breakfast is a tradition Regina has held for many years. The Freshmen are paired up with “big sisters” who guide them and give them tips along their freshmen year of high school. During the breakfast, the girls have the opportunity to get to know each other before the biggest event of the year, Powderpuff! On this day incoming students get the full sisterhood experience of Regina.

The Seniors (Big sisters) act as a role model, they give guidance, support, and encouragement towards their “Little sisters” as they start their new year in high school. Both Seniors and Freshmen got the chance to create a life-long bond with their ‘sister’. The Breakfast allowed one another to open up about the first days of school. They got to eat breakfast together, exchange gifts, and Seniors also got to give tips regarding the new school year. This breakfast helped create many long-lasting memories and strong bonds between sisters.
