TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: MEET MS. MAHONEY
By Olivia Kulla '25

Every month the Regina Reporters put a spotlight on a staff member here at Regina High School. This month we shine a spotlight on our new history teacher, Ms. Mahoney!
What is your favorite part about being back at Regina?
I like being back in the environment and the atmosphere here. I also love getting to know the students .
Someone gives you an elephant you can‘t give away or sell. What do you do with it?
I guess I would have a pet elephant
Would you relive your high school days if you could?
No! I enjoyed college overall more because of the growth I had compared to high school.
If you were given $50,000 to start your own business, what business would you start?
Since I spent so many years working in a restaurant before I went into teaching, I would open my own restaurant.
“If you had a time machine would you travel to the future or back to the past?
I would go back to the past because I don’t want to spoil the future.
STUCO STATES REFLECTION
By Athena Rosati '25At the end of February, I joined the Regina Student Council on a trip to Grand Rapids to attend the 2024 MASC/MAHS States Conference This entirely student-led conference allows all attendees to network with new high school students and absorb ideas they can apply to their schools. Over three days, I met hundreds of new people who enriched my understanding of what student leadership is. On the first day we arrived, all students were encouraged to participate in many icebreaker activities. These got students integrated into groups with kids from all over the state. Meeting the new faces and making new friends on the first day set us up for a more comfortable weekend. The rest of the weekend was followed by plenty of student showcases and keynote speakers. Great ideas were shared that the Regina Student Council plans to bring back and implement next year.

DUNE PART 2
‘Dune: Part Two’ is arguably the most actionpacked sci-fi movie to have hit theaters this year. Dune was originally a science fiction series written by Frank Herbert and brought to life over 50 years later “Dune: Part Two” is a continuation of the popular saga, focusing on the life of Paul Atredies (Timothee Chalamet) and his life living in a dangerous environment filled with wars with the help of his new companion Chani (Zendaya). Special appearances from well-known actors such as Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Léa Seydoux kept the audience captivated during this long movie If there were three words to describe this movie it would be Action Romance Suspenseful. Some scenes during Dune seemed predictable and like you would know what happens next but every time they twisted it, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The casting in this movie was impeccable, with each member showcasing their characters superbly and truly embodying the emotions The visuals in this movie were astonishing, it felt as if they went to another planet and filmed the movie as well as the set and costumes. Everything about this movie was remarkable, as the directors paid attention to each and every detail. People who are not fans of science fiction would be captivated by this movie, as the storyline thickens and leaves you wanting more
Sequins, dancers, roller skates, you name it, Usher’s halftime show had it. Knowing he had a tough act to follow after Rhianna’s groundbreaking performance during the 2023 Superbowl, Usher led with his hit song, “Caught Up” and ended with a fan favorite, “Yeah!”. Personally, the most shocking event was when the singer suddenly glided out on roller skates. Watching him sing and roll was an impressive and entertaining feat I shared with my family. Although the roller skates were fun, what truly took the nation by shock was Alicia Keys’ guest appearance and opening note. When singing her song “If I Ain’t Got You” Alicia’s voice experienced a detrimental crack heard worldwide. Despite her quick recovery, the failed note and public displays of affection between Usher and Keys were the focal point of the performance. Upon reflection, I give this Superbowl Halftime show a 6/10, mainly due to the fact that we were spoiled with Rhianna last year. Similarly, Senior Gianna Switalski states, “Usher was nothing compared to Rhianna”.
Dear Regina: Spring Break Edition
By Regina Report StaffQ: Do you have any good Spring Break tips or tricks?
I took my daughter & friends to Ft. Lauderlale in 2003.. thinking about the movie Where the Boys Are in the sixties. Apparently, that was NOT where the boys (or girls) were... times change and the hot spot moved to Panama City, FLorida.

Spring Clubs Update
By Regina Report StaffAs we say goodbye to the snow and hello to the spring, there are so many amazing things happening with the different clubs and teams here at Regina that we wanted to shine a quick spotlight on a few exciting highlights (with photos on the following page):

Mock Trial:
Earlier this month, for the second year in a row, our Regina ‘Mock Trial’ team competed in the Macomb County Regionals. Regina worked carefully and diligently throughout the course of the day in both of their cases. They employed all of their knowledge about the civil case and competed fiercely as both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Great work to all our superstar legal minds!

Forensics:
After restarting the Regina Forensics team last year, this year we are proud to have our first competitor to make it to the NCFL Grand National Tournament! Best of luck to Senior Gisele Bourbeau who will be competing in Chicago this Memorial Day and kudos to the whole Forensics team for their victories throughout the season!

Regina Artists:
Several of our spectacular Regina artists were selected to show off their ceramic pieces and other artistic creations at the Macomb County Annual Secondary Student Art Show. Special shout out to Senior Bianca Petruzzello and Sophomore Bailee Rothe for receiving honorable mention awards for their art pieces Great job girls!
