On October 31st at Regina High School, we had a spooktacular celebration during our lunch period for our annual costume contest. Each class came up with creative costumes to celebrate Halloween, but only one costume could win, so it is time to present this year's winners!
For our Freshman, we investigated throughout the grade for the best costume and found investigators Jailyn Houth and Mary Thacker to solve our case! With their intriguing detective costumes, they were crowned freshman winners. Our winner for the class of ‘27 was Evan Campell in the inflatable balloon animal! It was a tight call between our inflatable costumes, but eventually, she ended the exciting day with possession of the anticipated Starbucks gift card.
In our junior class, the winners were Gru and the Minions. We saw great competition in this class, but this group came out on top! Winning the contest was more satisfactory to them than stealing the moon. For our amazing class of 2025, our winners were Willy Wonka and the Oompa Loompas! Our stellar group shined through with their creativity and amazing style with these costumes. We even got a special entertainment bonus when they performed the Oompa Loompa song for us. An extra bonus was the comical dance battle to decide the winners of the staff. Kevin as a Regina Saddlelite and Mr. Sabo as an Egyptian pulled off some extraordinary moves, but in the end Mr. Sabo and his Egyptian costume ruled the party!
With an unforgettable costume contest, this wrapped up the Halloween season of 2024. We can’t wait to see what our classmates come up with next year. Happy Halloween!
SPOOKY STORY BY LORELEI MAHON
On Halloween night, wind howled through the hallways of Regina High School. The full moon cast an eerie glow on the school, waking up the ghosts of the saddle shoes inside the lockers. These saddles were vengeful; they were tired of being mistreated and worn improperly. They decided it was time for revenge. They burst through the locker doors, leaving dirty footprints all over the school. Using their shoelaces, the saddles traced sinister, threatening messages across the walls. When Mrs. Diamond walked into school the next day, she couldn’t help but scream at the terrifying sight. The school had been vandalized overnight! As she walked around and read the threatening messages on the walls, she realized her students were to blame for this mess; they weren’t wearing their saddle shoes properly, which caused the ghosts’ anger! The students of Regina learned one thing that day–always wear your saddles the right way and keep them clean!

“Boo grams” are whimsical, surprise gifts that are sent during the Halloween season to spread cheer. Regina’s SADD club hosted the Regina and De La Salle boo grams for 2024. Many students were filled with joy after receiving a boo gram at both Regina and De La Salle. After some interviewing by our Regina Reporters, many saddelites sent a boo gram to their friends, boyfriends, or siblings at De La Salle. For example, Francesca Caza sent one to her boyfriend over at De La Salle. We are positive that this gesture puts a smile on the recipient's face!
The SADD club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) recently held a successful boo grams sale, spreading Halloween cheer and positive messages around Regina while raising funds to support their mission. In addition to the festive sale the SADD club also welcomed guest speaker Jacob Mangum Who shared valuable insights on making safe and healthy choices Mr. Mangum underscored SADDS' commitment to empowering students with the knowledge and resources to avoid destructive decisions. The club's efforts continue to make a positive impact, fostering a supportive and informed student community.

The Regina De La Salle Mass Mob was a great chance for students from both schools to come together and show their love for the Lord. It gives students a chance to socialize with each other and do it in the most holy way, with Jesus. It was a great opportunity to support St. Isaac Jogues School and get more recognition for the school. This mass was a great success and we can not wait to see everyone at the next one!
Sara- “it was fun and nice to see people from both schools there.”
Riley- “ It was nostalgic being back at my alma mater.”
Mrs Boersen- “It’s awesome to see our Regina girls and De La Salle boys come together to worship and celebrate their faith.”

Regina held a fall sports Pep Rally for the first time in a very long time. The rally started with the cheerleaders rushing out to get the crowd excited with dances and stunts. Each grade’s fall sport athletes competed against each other in a series of games. They did games such as an egg on the spoon race, tuga-war, floor hockey, and which class can do the loudest chant. It was a competitive battle between the Seniors and Juniors, but the Juniors ended up coming out on top. The saddlelites are thrilled to introduce a new tradition to our Regina community, and can’t wait for another opportunity to claim the trophy!

October is National Fire Prevention Month, so you may have noticed that your local fire department has hosted an open house! The goal of these events is to remind citizens to check their smoke detectors and to have a fire escape plan in place, especially for those families with young children. Sterling Heights has one of the most advanced fire departments in the Metro-Detroit area, with five departments, including a central department that overlooks the city. At their open house, they hold a tradition where they acquire junk cars from a nearby junkyard and demonstrate the different ways in which they can get inside to save lives! Along with this, they have plastic firefighter hats that will deem it’s wearer as a junior firefighter and t-shirts! Attending local fire department open houses are fun ways to spend your Sundays, but more importantly, easy ways to stay safe and become a more involved citizen.
TOPIC: MOVIE REVIEW
Madelyn Yezback and Francesca Camaj
Movie theaters this month were filled with many spooky movies, including Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Smile 2 and many more. Students Francesca Camaj and Madelyn Yezback went to watch Beetlejuice at MJR theaters. The movie was a pleasure to watch with a very interesting and well-developed plot. The movie starred actors including Genna Davis, Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder, and Jeffrey Jones. The plot of the story consisted of a few dying in a car accident, then the rest becoming stuck in a haunted home. Their efforts to escape attract a spirit, Beetlejuice, who quickly brings danger to them all. Overall, we would rate this movie a ten out of ten and would recommend it to others as well. We found it very entertaining and very climactic, as it served as a throwback movie rather than a new one because the original came out in 1988. This movie was a classic that we believe everyone should watch this Halloween season.
Mr. Kosmas stepped in after the school year had already begun to help educated the future generation of women in STEM. Let’s get to know Mr. Kosmas and his one-of-a-kind humor through a few questions
Q: What is your favorite thing about Regina?
A: The Catholic environment.

A: I enjoy teaching in both environments, but I prefer an all-female Catholic school. Why? The students are focused on learning
