NEW TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: MEET MS. ROTHE

For the next part in our series of interviews on some of the new faces here at Regina, we decided to shine a spotlight on the newest face in our History Department- Ms. Rothe! We asked her a handful of questions in order to get to know her and here are some highlights:

How do you like working at Regina so far?

I love it. This is one of the few places that practice what they preach. It is a powerful community, and I appreciate working in the atmosphere. Before coming here, I had heard of the concept of sisterhood. After being here for one semester I have learned that this concept of sisterhood is true

What is your favorite class to teach and why?

My favorite class to teach is Government It is a concept that sounds boring but it is very interesting We Really get to dive into politics and get to learn why people are the way they are

If you could choose any superpower what would you choose and why?

I would love to fly. It would be efficient to fly and there are no downsides to flying. I would not want any other power like reading peoples minds because I feel that it would be annoying to hear other people's thoughts.

Do you prefer cats or dogs? Why?

I prefer dogs They are just sunshine in a creature, they are so happy, fun, and innocent I have volunteered in dog shelters and raised service dogs. I love doing this and it makes me very happy.

What would you do if you were the only survivor of a plane crash in a forest?

I don’t have many survival skills so I do not know how long I would last.

If you could eliminate one state, what would it be and why?

I would eliminate Ohio I feel that it is very boring and it never really does anything.

REGINA REVIEWS: CREED III

Creed III was a movie full of action, anticipation, and courage. We see Adonis Creed after his retirement from boxing, enjoying his relaxed life and being involved with his family. But the plot twist is when Creed is greeted by an old friend. This creates a problem and leads to conflict in the movie. This movie felt shorter than the other Creed movies, and the final outcome was predictable.

Overall, Creed III was a great movie to watch in the theatre. I recommend it to anyone interested in boxing, Rocky and Creed, or if you like Michael B. Jordan.

CLUB SPOTLIGHT: FORENSICS

Regina’s newest Forensics Club is where students compete in public speaking and performative categories. Members have to prepare their speeches or perform a piece of literature, usually an excerpt of a book or some poems . The Forensics club engages students in public speaking and debate, sparks their creativity, and helps them to learn more about themselves. Juniors Aubriana Scott and Gisele Bourbeau are both award winning members of the Forensics Club, with both Aubriana and Gisele winning over 4 awards across the season. Together, the two of them have decided to share their experience. Gisele states that her favorite memory was, “When Aubriana and her duo partner Audrey received the 1st place ribbon, and a few hours after the competition she got a call stating they had got 2nd place.” Aubriana’s favorite speech is the one that she and her partner are working on, it is about Welfare. Their piece is called ‘The Final Placement’ and she believes that it is a very unique piece, and she cannot wait to present it. Moderator, and former Forensics state champion, Mr. Totten’s favorite memory was “Being able to judge some of the tournaments, and being able to watch the students compete.”

After months of practice, the girls had their first competition on March 4 Despite the fact that this was their first year competing, the girls were head and shoulders above their competition They ended up winning their three competitions that day, and they were one of the two teams at the regional competition to advance to the state finals. Finals were held in Lansing on March 18, but unfortunately the team did not advance any further.

Regardless of the results, these girls should be immensely proud of themselves and their performance. They did an outstanding job for their first year competing Next year the girls

hope

to be able to advance further Along with that they hope that they have more student participation.

STEM TO STEAM

This month, Mrs Willoughby’s Ceramics students teamed up with Mrs Michael’s STEM students to design and create stamps for their clay pots. The ceramics students drew up what they wanted their stamp to look like, and the STEM students brought those designs to life with the 3-D printer! Here are some highlights from this activity

PORT-O-POTTY ANNIVERSARY

We all remember the windy day in March of 2022 when a porta-potty slammed into the car in the parking lot, and if you weren’t there, you can probably picture it. The news spread fast and everyone knew about the incident before the first bell except the victim, Gianna Switalski, owner of the car. These were her thoughts when she found out during her first-hour art class, “I was shocked and thought wow that’s really funny, and I now understand why there is a sign that says do not park there.” This proves that book smarts don’t mean everything!
