The comparison is not exact, but it’s fair to argue that there’s a clear trend in how the two main U.S. political parties—Democrats and Republicans—have weaponized justice as a tool for political gain or revenge. Conversely, we also see cases where justice bends to the will of politics.

law schools like Harvard (e.g., the case of Brazil and controversial judge Sergio Moro).

judicial failure.

Besides the spat, there are many other reasons for its fall. The US dollar still dominates,
but disaffected investors are investing in “nontraditional reserve currencies” such as gold and other non-Euro currencies, according to Wolf Richter, publisher of Wolf Street. He cited IMF data that the US dollar represents 60% and the Euro 20% of total currency holdings. However, increases have occurred in the top nontraditional reserve currencies: the Japanese yen (5.8%), British pound (4.7%), Canadian dollar (2.8%), Chinese renminbi (2.2%), Australian dollar (2.1%), and Swiss franc (0.2%). Another 4.6% is spread among a basket of other foreign currency reserves.

After forty years of decreasing their gold holdings, central banks began rebuilding their bullion reserves around 20 years ago. Richter noted that the top four central banks by gold reserves— the US (8,133 tonnes), Germany (3,352 tonnes),
Italy (2,452 tonnes), and France (2,437 tonnes) — have not changed their holdings in at least 20 years. However, there has been significant movement below the top four, particularly with Russia and China, which are now the fifth- and sixth-largest holders. Combined, Russia and China have added 3,626 tonnes to their holdings since 2005, he noted, and smaller holders, such as Poland, India, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, also added substantial amounts of gold last year.

While Trump’s baiting is unhelpful, there is no way to unseat Chairman Powell and his board of governors. Besides, as former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers quipped, there
is no replacement for the US: “Europe is a museum, Japan is a nursing home, and China is a jail,” he said.

On July 2, allies were blindsided as reports surfaced that the US had paused the delivery of certain air defense missiles and munitions to Ukraine—a unilateral step taken by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for the third time. He had paused some shipments in January and February due to concern about potential shortages, but his actions were reversed a few days later. Not this time. Besides, President Donald Trump said no weapons had been withheld and then announced, after a call with Vladimir Putin, that he could not end the war because Putin “won’t stop”. He hinted at sanctions but hasn’t imposed any since assuming office. Not surprisingly, the next day, Russia unleashed its most significant air attack to date against Ukraine, then Germany’s leader called Trump and offered to buy Patriot air defense systems on behalf of Ukraine.Wrote historian Anne Applebaum: “Putin, who might otherwise have been running into real trouble right now, in his third year of an unsuccessful and costly conflict, has been encouraged and inspired to keep going.Trump has given him and his war a new lease on life.”

The E.U.’s imports of Russian fossil fuels in 2024 totaled $23 billion, surpassing the $19 billion in financial aid it provided to Ukraine. A European ban on Russian oil and gas imports is not planned until the end of 2027.

Europeans have also suffered from increasing Russian attacks on critical undersea infrastructure in the past year, notably in the Baltic Sea. Beneath the seas are cables and pipelines vital to everyday life, ensuring the lights stay on and bank payments are processed. Roughly 1.3 million kilometers of cables—equivalent to about 800,000 miles—are used for $10 trillion in financial transactions each day, NATO chief Mark Rutte estimated in January 2025. But Trump wimps out when it comes to Putin. In May, he imposed a two-week ceasefire deadline on Putin, which has since blown past. Putin has outplayed Trump by prolonging negotiations, stoking divisions among NATO, and diverting Pentagon attention toward Iran and China, which Trump considers more important geopolitical challenges. Putin also entices Trump with the notion of establishing a bilateral trading relationship as a means of avoiding draconian sanctions that could sink his economy. Finally, Trump says that Putin won’t stop, but he hasn’t demanded that he do so either.

Yet, at the same time that Chinese companies are introducing world-leading technologies, some Chinese policymakers and business leaders are flouting international law—and acting as if China were a poor developing country whose companies need special treatment.

The problem revolves around the royalty rates for “standard-essential patents,” or SEPs. These are the patents on standardized technologies—like technology using Wi-Fi and 5G communications—that ensure high-tech products from different manufacturers can work with each other. SEPs are the reason different brands of smartphones and laptops can all access the same wireless networks, for instance.

outset. This is particularly noticeable in China’s burgeoning automotive industry.

These systems limit access to new treatments and delay the arrival of cutting-edge therapies -- typically pricing them far below what they’re truly worth.

Areas with increased movement, such as the lips, the nasolabial fold, and the periorbital area, are especially prone to this phenomenon. In the lips, for example, migration toward the upper border of the vermillion lip has generated what is popularly known as “duck lip.” Other areas where migration has become more common in recent years are the temporal region, cheekbones, and jawline, the expert assures.

Es muy importante mantener una buena relación con los suegros, dentro de lo posible; pero cuando la pareja se casa, debe tener mucho cuidado con los límites. Hay gente, sobre todo suegros y suegras, que no lo entienden. Quieren meterse en la nueva pareja y opinar sobre su vida y los nietos, sin que nadie les pida criterio. Y además, crean muchos conflictos porque viven peleando.
It’s very important to maintain a good relationship with your parents-in-law, as much as possible; but when a couple gets married, they must be very careful about setting boundaries. There are people, especially fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, who don’t understand. They want to interfere with the new couple and have opinions about their lives and the grandchildren, without anyone asking for their opinion. And they also create a lot of conflict because they’re always fighting.

Otra vez los titulares arden. Irán e Israel, enfrentados en un nuevo capítulo de una historia larga, compleja y trágica. Misiles, ataques, represalias. Más vidas perdidas, más miedo sembrado, más niños creciendo entre ruinas. Y en el medio, como espectadores de una película que ya vimos demasiadas veces, el mundo entero observa cómo la violencia se alimenta de sí misma.
The headlines are blazing once again. Iran and Israel, facing off in a new chapter of a long, complex, and tragic history. Missiles, attacks, reprisals. More lives lost, more fear sown, more children growing up among ruins. And in the middle, like spectators of a movie we’ve seen too many times, the entire world watches as the violence feeds on itself.

Every bomb leaves a trauma. Every attack, a new open wound. Every retaliation, a new reason to continue the cycle.
Y no, no se trata de ingenuidad. Se trata de conciencia. De recordar que hay millones de seres humanos —niños, ancianos, mujeres, trabajadores— que no eligieron esta guerra,
pero la padecen. Que no tienen misiles, pero pierden hogares. Que no tienen poder, pero pagan el precio más alto.
And no, this is not about naiveté. It’s about awareness. About remembering that there are millions of human beings—children, the elderly, women, workers—who did not choose this war, yet suffer from it. Who don’t have missiles, yet lose their homes. Who have no power, yet pay the highest price.
Hoy más que nunca, debemos alzar la voz por un cese al fuego inmediato. Y no solo en el sentido militar. Un cese al fuego emocional, político y mediático. ¿Cuántas veces hemos dicho o escuchado frases como “yo soy así”,“no puedo cambiar” o “es que a mi edad ya no se aprende”? Es fascinante —y a la vez un poco alarmante— cuán poderosamente limitantes pueden ser esas palabras. Porque detrás de ellas está la idea equivocada de que nuestra mente está fija, que nuestro carácter es inmutable y que estamos condenados a repetir patrones por siempre.
How many times have we said or heard phrases like “this is how I am,” “I can’t change,” or “at my age, you just can’t learn anymore”? It’s fascinating—and at the same time a little alarming—how powerfully limiting these words can be. Because behind them lies the mistaken idea that our minds are fixed, that our character is immutable, and that we are condemned to repeat patterns forever.
Pero la ciencia nos recuerda algo esencial: nuestro cerebro es moldeable. But science reminds us of something essential: our brains are malleable.

Neuroplasticity—the brain’s marvelous ability to reorganize, create new connections, and adapt—offers us one of the most liberating news of our existence. We are not prisoners of
old habits or inherited narratives. We are beings in a constant process of construction.
Y esto no es simple optimismo espiritual. Es evidencia. Nuestros cerebros se reconfiguran en respuesta a nuestras experiencias, pensamientos, aprendizajes y prácticas diarias. Literalmente, cada elección y cada hábito esculpen nuestros circuitos neuronales. And this isn’t simple spiritual optimism. It’s evidence. Our brains rewire themselves in response to our experiences, thoughts, learning, and daily practices. Literally, every choice and every habit sculpts our neural circuits.

But just as the habit of criticizing is strengthened, so too can the habit of being grateful. Neuroplasticity doesn’t discriminate: it allows us to evolve in the direction we consciously choose.

Therefore, if we want fuller lives, with greater well-being, more impact, and more meaning, we need to take control of our own mental reprogramming.
Se trata de elegir conscientemente: ¿Qué pensamientos vas a reforzar hoy? ¿Qué nuevas habilidades vas a practicar? ¿Qué emociones quieres sembrar para que florezcan mañana?
It’s about consciously choosing: What thoughts are you going to reinforce today? What new skills are you going to practice? What emotions do you want to sow so that they will flourish tomorrow?
Esto no es fácil, ni instantáneo. Pero es posible. Y es el trabajo más profundo y significativo que podemos hacer. Porque al transformar la forma en que pensamos, transformamos nuestra biología, nuestras acciones y, finalmente, nuestro destino. This isn’t easy, nor is it instantaneous. But it is possible. And it is the deepest and most meaningful work we can do. Because by transforming the way we think, we transform our biology, our actions, and ultimately, our destiny.

Me sorprende la cantidad de personas que me escriben diciendo que no se sienten bien, pero no saben exactamente por qué. Algunas hablan de hinchazón, otras de un cansancio que no se quita, de sentirse desconectadas de su cuerpo. Y aunque muchas buscan respuestas en las hormonas, en la dieta o en el estrés, pocas se detienen a mirar un punto clave que lo cambia todo: el intestino.
I’m surprised by the number of people who write to me saying they don’t feel well, but don’t know exactly why. Some talk about bloating, others about unrelenting fatigue, or about feeling disconnected from their body. And while many look for answers in hormones, diet, or stress, few stop to look at a key factor that changes everything: the gut.
La salud intestinal no es una tendencia en el bienestar. Es uno de los sistemas más complejos y subestimados del cuerpo. Tu intestino tiene más neuronas que la médula espinal. De hecho, está tan conectado con la mente que ya se conoce como el “segundo cerebro”. Y no es una metáfora: el intestino produce más del 90% de la serotonina del cuerpo (sí, la hormona de la felicidad), regula el sistema inmune, controla la inflamación y tiene una relación directa con tu sistema hormonal.
Gut health isn’t a wellness trend. It’s one of the most complex and underestimated systems in the body. Your gut has more neurons than your spinal cord. In fact, it’s so connected to your mind that it’s now known as your “second brain.” And that’s not a metaphor: the gut produces more than 90% of the body’s serotonin (yes, the happiness hormone), regulates the immune system, controls inflammation, and has a direct
relationship with your hormonal system.

In my own journey, I understood that no matter how many routines, supplements, or healthy habits I had, if my gut wasn’t in balance, everything else felt strained. I began to connect the dots: intense cravings, unexplained bloating, fatigue, unexplained anxiety, hormonal acne. It was all connected.

That’s why, when someone tells me, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I don’t feel like myself,” my first question is always, “How is your gut health?”
¿Por dónde empezar? Where to start?
Sanar el intestino no es hacer una dieta extrema, sino volver a lo básico: comer alimentos reales, sin ultra-procesados;
incorporar fermentados como kéfir o sauerkraut; usar suplementos como colágeno, glutamina o caldos de huesos y apoyarse en probióticos de calidad; pero también en hábitos diarios para manejar el estrés, dormir bien y moverse con intención. Healing your gut isn’t about going on an extreme diet, but rather returning to the basics: eating real foods, without ultra-processed foods; incorporating fermented foods like kefir or sauerkraut; using supplements like collagen, glutamine, or bone broths; and relying on quality probiotics; but also on daily habits to manage stress, sleep well, and move with intention.

El mundialmente conocido maestro del jamón Florencio Sanchidrián y los doctores Luis Montel y Francisco Tovar disertaron en la Facultad de Medicina Deportiva de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM, España) sobre los beneficios del jamón ibérico en la práctica del deporte.
World-renowned ham expert Florencio Sanchidrián and doctors Luis Montel and Francisco Tovar gave a talk at the Faculty of Sports Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM, Spain) about the benefits of Iberian ham for sports.
“Ha sido una experiencia del ibérico, la salud, la vida y el deporte, con un jamón de Guijuelo, en Salamanca, con cinco años de curación, añada 2021, a 910 metros de altura sobre el nivel del mar y plenamente natural”, explicó el maestro Florencio Sanchidrián. “It was an experience of Iberian ham, health, life, and sports, with a ham from Guijuelo, Salamanca, cured for five years, 2021 vintage, at 910 meters above sea level, and completely natural,” explained master ham expert Florencio Sanchidrián.
Amparados por una investigación del Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Alimentos y Nutrición, del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas de España, los profesores Montel y Tovar definieron el jamón ibérico como “un superalimento especialmente beneficioso para los deportistas”.

and Technology and Nutrition of the Spanish National Research Council, Professors Montel and Tovar defined Iberian ham as “a superfood especially beneficial for athletes.”

Además, insistieron en los micronutrientes que aporta para el rendimiento deportivo, como el hierro hemo, que optimiza la oxigenación muscular y previene la fatiga durante el ejercicio intenso; el zinc y el selenio, que fortalecen el sistema inmune y aceleran la reparación tisular post-esfuerzo; así como las vitaminas B1, B6 y B12, que potencian el metabolismo energético y la resistencia.
