Brie Krissansen
Well-established local real estate owners, Michael and Julie-Anne Vella have joined with the Harcourts brand. Michael and Julie-Anne have built a formidable two office operation and their business aligns perfectly with the Harcourts Group and shares our same values. Michael and Julie-Anne are backed by an amazing team of sales consultants and asset managers, more like a family than work colleagues. Adding, “We are the ultimate all-rounders! As individuals we possess areas of expertise, as a team, we are a hell of a force.”
PA and Social Media Content Creator, Harcourts New Zealand With an eye for detail, Brie has taken the leap from being a self-employed social media content creator to cultivating a new wave of creativity on Harcourts’ digital platforms. The Bachelor of Communication Studies graduate has always been fascinated with the world of real estate and has set her sights on showcasing auctions, culture and what makes Harcourts New Zealand the world-renowned company that it is.
Harcourts Elite Group, Underwood, Queensland Powerhouse couple Faziya Day and Mouzam Ali have realised a decade-long dream with the launch of the brand new Harcourts Elite Group in Underwood. The auction-based office, offering both sales and property management expertise, is composed of a team of twelve well-trained real estate professionals, driven by a united desire to create an exceptional real estate experience for clients. Faziya is already planning to host a variety of community-based events from the new office as she seeks to live out her mantra of, ‘be the change you wish to see in the world’. Mouzam’s engineering background may not be an obvious educational training ground for real estate management however his analytical mindset is crucial to the daily operations of Harcourts Elite Group.
Chris Melville Graphic Designer, Harcourts New Zealand Chris trained in industrial design and his career began in superyacht styling before he moved into event and exhibition design. His most recent role was in the liquor industry, designing campaigns and activations for multiple wine and beer brands. With plenty of B2B experience from previous design agency roles and training in client advocacy within a brain-injury organisation, Chris brings a mindset of ‘stakeholder-care’ to Harcourts.
Harcourts Residential & Lifestyle, Toukley, New South Wales A longstanding Toukley real estate office, with years of experience and local real estate knowledge, has officially opened its doors and rebranded to a Harcourts office. Business owner, Shaun Clayton, has been leading the local business since 2008, and after the retirement of business partner Dave last year, Shaun decided it was time to take the business in a new direction. The team is ready to move onto bigger and better things knowing that Harcourts is the brand to help them fill the gap in their digital space.
Georgia Meech Marketing Assistant, Harcourts New Zealand Georgia is the marketing co-ordinator for Harcourts New Zealand, and comes with the skills to develop, implement and execute marketing visions. Her ideas are driven with commitment, and with her knowledge and experience, she is passionate about making a difference.
South Africa Harcourts Lifestyle Parks, Johannesburg Anton Kruger and his team are spreading their wings with the addition of a new franchise. As a business owner, Anton has started his Harcourts journey in Midrand, shortly after expanding to Sandton, and is now taking on the Parks area in Johannesburg. They are also updating their name, and these three areas (Midrand, Sandton and the Parks) will now operate under the Harcourts Lifestyle name. Parkview and surrounding areas were established more than a century ago and are some of the oldest suburbs in Johannesburg, with lots of its historic architecture intact. So it may have a lot of history, but that does not mean it hasn’t kept up to date with similar modern metro areas. With the leadership of Anton and his team, the Harcourts Lifestyle - Parks Office will undoubtedly become a household name.

TOP INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE HARCOURTS COOPER & CO
TOP INTERNATIONAL OFFICE HARCOURTS COASTAL
North Shore’s Harcourts Cooper & Co were once again recognised as the most successful multi-office franchise for revenue, along with a host of other accolades at Harcourts International awards virtual event.
For the first time in history, an Australian office has won the prestigious Harcourts International Office for Total Gross Revenue Award.
The company, which has more than 300 sales consultants and its own auction division, has been named top franchise…an achievement that managing director Martin Cooper says has been reached with plenty of work from his total workforce of more than 500. “Experience is a very important ingredient in the recipe for success in achieving real estate goals,” Martin says. “We know what we’re doing, and we do it well. That’s the simple recipe for success.” Harcourts New Zealand managing director Bryan Thomson says Cooper & Co is one of the company’s success stories, both nationally and internationally. “It is impressive to see the franchise on the winner’s list year after year,” he says. “We congratulate them on another strong year of success.” Harcourts Cooper & Co was established in 1991 and has since then sold more than 9000 properties. Its trophy cabinet includes a slew of awards both nationally and internationally over many years, and it clinched many of last year’s REINZ awards. Martin says he’s not sure how many awards his company has won, but each is very satisfying and reflects the professionalism of his workforce.
Harcourts Coastal, based in Queensland, has been named the top Harcourts office globally at the Harcourts International Awards. CEO, Adrian Knowles, spoke on the momentous occasion congratulating business owner Dane Atherton and his unstoppable team at Harcourts Coastal. “We are so proud of this amazing team – they have truly pushed themselves above and beyond to reach this historic moment and what a moment it is”, said Adrian. Having recently just taken out the national title of Top Residential Office for Revenue of the Year, this award comes as a big cherry on top of a stellar year for Harcourts Coastal. Dane and Kym Atherton are remarkable leaders who have a relentless desire to create the best environment for their people to thrive. They are market leaders on the Gold Coast and have helped thousands of people achieve their property goals. Speaking on the win, Harcourts Coastal Managing Director, Dane Atherton, said it was the culmination of all the hard work, dedication and drive that the team had put in over the years. “This award is a career highlight for our team. I believe the Harcourts network is home to some of the highest performing offices of any franchise group in the world so to be recognised as the No 1 is a major achievement for our team is incredible.” “The award has been in our sights since we joined the group 11 years ago and it is a great honour to achieve it.” Harcourts Queensland CEO, Mitch Peereboom added, “Harcourts Coastal is an extraordinary business. This is the highest level of recognition in our group and it was a thrill to celebrate this milestone achievement with this amazing team of real estate professionals.”

TOP INTERNATIONAL SALES CONSULTANT BOB WOLFF
TOP INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT LISTING INDIVIDUAL SCOTT McWILLIAMS
For the first time in Harcourts history, the top spot for International Sales Consultant went to Harcourts North America. Our very own “Super-Agent”, Bob Wolff from Harcourts Prime Properties Monarch Beach achieved this outstanding result.
At the recent Harcourts Virtual International Awards celebration, Scott McWilliams won International Property Management Listing Individual for 2022.
Bob is a true professional, an icon of the industry that has redefined the real estate industry while staying true to the values that allowed him to achieve amazing success. Totally committed to delivering the finest experience for everyone around him, Bob has created a legacy over the last 47 years that many can only aspire to emulate. After placing second last year, Bob’s determination to come out on top this time came to fruition, and he was named the number 1 sales consultant for Harcourts globally, at the group’s virtual international awards event. Bob was able to celebrate alongside his wife, Jenny and Mike & Irene Green (see page 36) over lunch whilst visiting Uluru in Australia, following his attendance at the Hx2022. “I am incredibly proud to have achieved this goal and recognition. We have an amazing Group with so many outstanding agents congratulations to everyone that achieved their goals this last year. Thank you to Jenny, my wife and my business wife Lori, for all your support,” Bob said. When asked about Bob’s accomplishments, Harcourts North America CEO Ben Brady stated, “He’s one of the most consistent and tenacious people I’ve ever met. It’s incredible to have him as one of the clear leaders in not only real estate for Harcourts but real estate in the world. To see him at the very top is incredibly well deserved.” Harcourts Executive Director and long-time friend, Mike Green believes Bob epitomizes everything great about Harcourts and real estate. “Bob has an incredible work ethic, an absolute focus on delivering the finest experience and a genuine drive to help those around him. Almost 100% of his business is repeat or referral - a testament to those qualities. Most importantly he is just a really good person.”
Always quick to help out others on their property management journey or offer advice to other agents, Scott is a well-liked member of Team Harcourts. “It’s an honour to be rewarded for the hard work we put in over the last 12 months and to be recognised as the top performer internationally is just incredible,” said a delighted Scott. “I’d like to recognise the efforts of Nikki who works alongside me and does an amazing job, and the wider business too who support what we do with both referrals and in being the recipients of a really high number of new managements each month!” continued Scott. “What I do wouldn’t be possible if I couldn’t stand in front of a prospective landlord and genuinely believe in the service I’m promising to them.” Head of Property Management Australia, Karmen Costigan agrees. “What a phenomenal year of growth as BDM with Harcourts Kingsberry, Townsville, Scott’s had,” remarked Karmen. “He was recently awarded Australia’s No 1 Listing Individual for Property Management, was our expert BDM at the PM Growth Session at HX and is now International PM Individual listing winner!” “Scott was working away at his desk when the announcement came through,” laughed Ms Costigan, “which is typical of his work ethic – it’s all about helping others achieve success through their investment properties.” Scott is always ready to share his expertise with the network and we love having him as part of our Harcourts PM family!

NEW ZEALAND UPDATE What an outstanding three days we enjoyed as we gathered for HX, our National Conference, in the beautiful Te Pai Convention Centre in Christchurch. To have almost 1300 of our team together learning, networking and celebrating after the restrictions of the past year will be a memory that will last long into the future. Superb keynote speakers, our own team members sharing the secrets to their success and, of course, National Awards night were all highlights. Seeing the raw emotion of Mike Green’s induction into the Harcourts Hall of Fame underlined the culture that underpins all we stand for as an organisation, something we can all be very proud of contributing to. Wrapped throughout all the achievements of the year was our 10th consecutive year being recognised by the public of New Zealand as the most Trusted Real Estate brand in our country. Perhaps of all accolades, this is the one that resonates most when we look to the past to set our strategies and goals for the future.

With recent market changes there has never been a better time to take all we have learned during HX, and the year we have experienced, and apply this knowledge to ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional results to our clients and customers across New Zealand.
4. What advice would you give to people new to the industry? Be responsible for what you do and be accountable to yourself. Concentrate on doing the right things and the money will follow.
Thank you all for an exceptional year and best wishes for a superb year to come.

Mark, who is based with the Holmwood office, has been calling auctions all around Te Waipounamu over the past 12 years, including Christchurch, Nelson, Timaru, Ashburton and Oamaru. He has made the final of the Open Division of the awards several times, but until this year was yet to crack the elusive top spot, carding second last year. “I think my key skills of understanding vendors, speaking clearly, reading the auction floor and encouraging bidders, negotiation and delivering good service to the Harcourts sales team are what got me through this year,” Mark says. “I am very proud to achieve the top spot this year, and equally proud to be part of the Harcourts family which has impeccable standards of professionalism.” Harcourts managing director Bryan Thomson says Mark showed his pedigree at the event, which saw New Zealand’s top auctioneers battle it out in front of an active live audience. “All the five finalists were top class, and it was clearly evident that selecting the winner would be very hard,” he says. “This year, we included voting from those watching the event in the crowd, which added significantly to the electric atmosphere. Our congratulations go to Mark for his success.” First division auctioneer of the year went to Travers Smyth of Harcourts Cooper & Co (North Shore), while most promising was clinched by John Phillips of Avonhead. Harcourts’ top national auction lister title went to Diego Traglia (Massey North), Papanui received the top national office for auctions listed, and top national office for auctions per sales consultant went to Henderson Heights (Auckland).

Harcourts NZ has announced its rising stars of real estate by selecting sales consultants from both islands as ones to watch in 2022. The top national rising star award has gone to Adam Fuller of Tairua, whilst the top national NAI (commercial) Harcourts rising star accolade has been taken by Brian Davey of Christchurch. The most promising auctioneer of the year is John Phillips from Avonhead. Harcourts managing director Bryan Thomson says the rising star awards are very sought-after, as they identify sales consultants and auctioneers who are well on the way to an exceptional career. “These are people who have been earmarked as being expected to achieve great things in all they do, and we congratulate them on rising to the top of a very strong contingent of nominees.” Adam has been in the local building trade for more than 10 years in Tairua and decided to study real estate as a career change. This experience has helped him gain knowledge of the housing market, and he is well connected with the local communities. “Having grown up in Tairua, I have great local knowledge and a good understanding of the real estate process, having bought and sold a number of properties myself over the years.” Brian has years of experience nationally and internationally in sales and management within many industries. He has conducted business in more than 60 countries, which has given him invaluable insight into the operational requirements of companies. “Business is all about building trusting relationships and this is something I take very seriously. Being a good listener and keeping the best interests of my clients as my focus has resulted in a wide network of loyal clients.” John came to real estate after selling his successful Christchurch-based tourism sales and marketing company and working in sales for more than 35 years. “Born and bred in Christchurch with a son at a local school, I know and understand the city. The way people search for their next home is changing rapidly, and my knowledge of marketing and negotiation ensures that properties stand out across all forms of media.”

AUSTRALIA UPDATE What an incredible and action-packed year it’s been so far, and we are only halfway through! With our country reopening borders and interstate travel beginning again, it’s been amazing being able to finally get out and about to meet our offices, support teams and people of Harcourts. There is nothing better than the level of connectivity a face-to-face meet or catch up over a coffee can provide. While we’ve managed to stay connected during lockdowns, nothing beats seeing people in real life and getting to know them. In staying connected, as a network, we continue to grow in our support and strength – not just in numbers but in our resilience as a brand and team. I was so proud to see our “One Team – We’ve Got This!” theme shine through during the devastating floods that occurred earlier this year in NSW and QLD. The teamwork, selflessness and compassion shown by our network to those affected was indescribable. Seeing and hearing about people dropping everything to literally pull-on boots and shovel mud out of homes and offices showed our true spirit here and Harcourts and it made me so proud. It was our Kickstart series at the beginning of the year that really was the first chance for Lisa and I to be able to visit each state and celebrate with our teams. A fantastic way to kick off the year and the best way for me to meet many of our offices and business owners for the first time in my role as CEO. Each state put on a fantastic day of learning and knowledge sharing, followed by some truly wonderous awards nights to celebrate the exceptional achievements made by our exceptional Harcourts people. We had the utmost pleasure to travel from state to state and see firsthand the enthusiasm and energy that drives our Harcourts brand. Not only did we kick off the year, but we also introduced this year’s theme – One Team, we’ve got this! A theme that I have no doubt is at the heart of every single person in our network as they go about their every day and strive for greatness.
20 INSIDE Harcourts
The “One Team” attitude was evident in the recently held Annual Awards nights, in each state, celebrating our top performers at a state level. We have remarkable groups of people, doing remarkable work, all around the country, and events like this give us the opportunity to celebrate their success. In a competitive industry, there is nothing better than seeing our Harcourts network cheer each other on with nothing less than genuine excitement. As we move further into the year, we continue on with the biggest technology rollout we’ve ever done, in one go. We have recently just completed the full first stage rollout of Realhub, nationwide, with a very successful uptake of usage across our offices. Early March saw us launch our brand-new H Digital+ websites for Harcourts Australia, Harcourts offices and agents. Despite some teething issues, within the first two months of being live, we more than doubled the number of unique visitors and nearly tripled the average time people spend on the site and page views. On top of all that, the new website generated over 10,000 leads, consisting of auto appraisals, and listing or agent enquiries, in its first full month of operation. With more of our technology suite still to go live, the future is looking efficient and blue! I look forward to the future tech rollouts and supporting our network in their goals and achievements. May our future be bolder, brighter and blue-er than ever.

HX has come and gone! It was one of the best events that we have had in recent years. Held at the new Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch, with a fantastic line of speakers on the main stage culminating in the awards dinner on the Tuesday evening!
Topping off the year end with some celebrations always sounds like a great idea, especially when you have things to celebrate. Hx2022 was just that occasion.
NAI Harcourts also held its half day event on Monday morning with speakers covering a variety of different subjects, these were well received with a good attendance from the commercial team. Speakers included Scott McCulloch, the National Development Manager for Ngai Tahu, one of the largest and most active property developers in the country, as well as Harcourts Business Partners Shyrelle Mitchell & Kent Perry from Heaney and Partners, who ran an innovative legal quiz. Other speakers included our very own Lesley and Dave Lane from Harcourts Cooper & Co. and Hannah McQueen from Enable.Me Congratulations to our national award winners for 2021/22
What an action packed Quarter it was in North America, with the highlight of it being Harcourts Hype, our annual conference! It was held in the desert of Scottsdale, Arizona at the exclusive Andaz Hotel. We held our very first “invite only” format for Hype, where we invited our Business Owners and Top 30 agents, making this an exclusive event and encouraging our agents to make the Top 30! The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, as this provided an encouraging competitive nature to the event. We were able to record every speaker session to share with the network following the event, and also live streamed our Annual Awards to make sure we had the wider network present as we celebrated the entire group’s efforts from the year before. We had incredible speakers such as Bob Wolff, Julia Gentry, and Aron Ralston to name a few. They provoked excitement in our attendees discussing how they have seen success in years prior, how to have a positive Team Culture, and how to push through a seemingly impossible feat. It was exciting, motivating and encouraging with every new speaker in front of the group. The annual awards concluded the event with a “Yellowstone” theme, where we had tons wild wild west costumes line the stage as they received their annual awards. A big congratulations to all award winners on the year, and we can’t wait to see what the Annual awards for 2022 holds. We had several marketing launches take place this quarter, such as the release of our Harcourts Design website, and the relaunch of our Luxury Property Selection templates available to our agents within our

The event kicked off with sessions around handling PR, opportunities to leverage the media, and then a presentation on how to deal with embattled clients and work with Voluntary Administrators, Receivers and Business Turnaround consultants.
As the conference drew to its crescendo the winners were revealed as usual in a night of black ties, sequins and champagne. This year we saw some new faces, along with usual ones, take the stage. • Top NAI Harcourts Sales Consultant - Sean Stephens from NAI Harcourts Hamilton
Warrick Hobart (NAIH Hobart) taking 3rd, after the ever consistent #2 John Georgiou (NAIH Platinum).
• Second place - Mike Neale from NAI Harcourts Hamilton • Third place - Peter Peeters from NAI Harcourts Whangarei The rising star for the year Brian Davey from NAI Harcourts Christchurch Grenadier office. Top Office for the year, the team from NAI Harcourts Hamilton. Before HX Tony Kidd visited the commercial teams in the southern part of New Zealand, namely Dunedin, Invercargill, and Queenstown. Jim Packer from Dunedin showed Tony around his market and some of the sales he has done in recent months and in Invercargill the team met for dinner and undertook commercial training. The southern team has certainly completed some good transactions in the last couple of months. Last month we also held two zoom forums, where we had the team from Re-Leased Software discuss commercial market trends, with two of their team zooming in from the United Kingdom. We also had business partners from Punch Video Media talk to the commercial agency team on how best to maximise video for their marketing campaigns. Despite the market’s changing, including rising mortgage rates there continues to be a steady demand for commercial property across the country, especially for property that is well located with sound tenant covenants, although we have seen a general softening of yields for investment property.

NAI Harcourts enjoyed the best attendance of delegates ever, with representation from every state. The sessions also highlighted the opportunities in the regional areas, and this provided a great networking platform for the NAI Harcourts, Nutrien Harcourts and Harcourts agents alike.
It wasn’t all business however, with some excellent sessions to simply take in inspiration.
Harcourts Studio. Harcourts Design gives our agents full access to our graphic designers and content writers, allowing them to create custom marketing collateral to their liking, all while staying well within the brand standard guidelines. Another exciting initiative was launching our new onboarding role for new agents that join the network. This role will oversee the complete onboarding of all new agents who are to join the Harcourts brand in the US. What this means is that for the first three months after joining, all agents will be working one on one in a customized pathway so that they are fully introduced to everything that Harcourts has to offer, and are utilizing all the tools available to further grow their business. This not only covers all of the technology that is offered through the company, but also individual trainings so that the agents feel completely supported throughout and can focus on their individual business.
It is stating the obvious that many were keen to get back together after such a long time apart, and for others it was great to see the spectacle of conference for the first time.
Ryan Chesney & Phil Grant (Pinnacle)
Paul Sherlock & Tony Romano (Metro)
The ultimate winner was a new face to stage in the form of Ryan Chesney (NAIH Pinnacle), who is following in the footsteps of his mentor and Business Owner, Phil Grant, a multiple winner himself. From an office perspective, we know see the title go west for the first time to the rapidly growing team at NAI Harcourts Metro, represented on the night by Business Owners, Tony Romano (aka The Big Cheese) and Paul Sherlock. The race is now on again, and there is little doubt behind all that back slapping, camaraderie and heartfelt congratulations that was shared, this is a competitive lot. Go well everyone in the year ahead!

NUTRIEN EMPLOYEES RAISE OVER $30,000 FOR DOLLY’S DREAM Employees from across the Nutrien network have rallied behind the Dolly’s Dream Foundation, raising over $30,000 to support Do It for Dolly Day.
Harcourts South Africa held its annual HX event at the beautiful mountain resort of Champagne Sports. Given the restrictions, due to the pandemic, this was our first national Conference since May 2019. We were fortunate enough to have Steve Caradoc-Davies and Andrew Friebe from Harcourts International to add to the occasion. We always knew it would be special, but it exceeded all expectations. We had a record number of delegates who clearly felt the need to take advantage of the chance to attend a national event for the first time in several years. This was our opportunity to take in a healthy dose of the legendary Harcourts Culture!
Having made the trip to the Drakensburg resort, everyone set about making the most of every minute. After a high energy opening with a Lip Sync Battle featuring some of the corporate team, and an iconic South African singer, we settled into a series of great keynotes. There was consensus that this was the best line-up of keynote speakers that we had ever had. Over the two days they entertained us, made us really think and no doubt inspired everyone to go back and create world class client experiences.
Fundraisers were held across all states, with employees swapping out their usual green shirts for blue to support the important cause. Barbeques, morning teas, auctions, and raffles were coordinated by branches and teams, and individual donations were matched by Nutrien through the Grow our Community platform.
As always, the Theme evening proved to be a highlight for many. The theme of “Once Upon a Time” left many options open for outlandish costumes and very weird and wonderful characters. T he competition for best dressed in the various categories was fierce. The evening was long and festive and morning came quite quickly for some of the “Once Upon a Time” characters! The Gala Dinner and National Awards gave us a chance to recognise our top performers for the year. Being a record year, anyone who won an award had achieved great heights. We inducted our latest Hall of Fame member, Mario Grobler. As always this was an emotionally charged part of the evening, with very few dry eyes in the room. Our top sales consultant was Maureen Nel who beat off some very strong competition. The top office, and franchise was Harcourts Dunn. It’s coowners, Denis Dunn and Morne Vorster, won many of the awards and have raised the bar for everyone else.
Congratulations! Phil Wieland won the ‘Dick Larkin Shield’ award at the Queensland Annual Awards.
Jeanette Laffan won Victoria’s Top Residential Sales Consultant, an amazing achievement for Nutrien Harcourts.
Many people felt that this was “the best Conference ever”. Whether that was partly due to the 3-year break, or whether it was just because it provided the Culture “fill-up” that everyone needed really doesn’t matter. What matters is that we all got a chance to be together, to have bucket loads of fun and laughter, to celebrate with our winners and get inspired for the year ahead. I am already excited about HX 2023!

2021 was a strong year for the property market locally. We are looking forward for the trend to be continued in 2022 despite challenges on the economic front with high inflation and rising interest rates. However, the economic benefits from high commodity prices created a multiple effects on the consumer consumption. So far, the property market continues to be stable supported by the high LTV financing scheme where in some cases reaching a full amount of financing, and this accommodative policy applies to property developers too. SUPERCHARGING HARCOURTS CX IN 2022! Harcourts CX powered by RateMyAgent
As you may already be aware, we have been piloting a complete overhaul of the Harcourts CX Programme, centred around an exciting partnership we have forged with RateMyAgent, the largest and best recognised of the agent rating websites. Ahead of rolling out the new capabilities, these are the eight key benefits we will be able to offer business owners and agents: 1. We’re moving further upstream in the client experience. We currently ask clients four questions in our survey at settlement. In changing this to ask two at unconditional (agent star rating and a testimonial) and two at settlement (Net Promoter Score and reasons for the score given), we immediately move further upstream in the client’s journey. 2. Star ratings give us the short-term picture, NPS helps build long-term success. We don’t lose any of the benefits that NPS can provide to the longer-term development of our business, as we still gather this at the second survey. This email – from Steve Caradoc Davies - asks for a rating of the overall Harcourts experience. We will also still ask for the reasons for the score, providing more granularity and a deeper understanding of the client feedback.
28 INSIDE Harcourts
3.A full integration with Google Reviews.
5. Better response rates mean more data.
8. All the results can be seen in one simple-to-use dashboard.
Responses to the unconditional survey are, thanks to RateMyAgent, fully integrated with Google Reviews. Clients are asked if they would like it, in addition to the review appearing at the RateMyAgent site, to also appear at the GMB page of their Harcourts office. Providing they have a Gmail account (30% of consumers do), this can then be achieved with a single ‘yes’ click. As well as making great reviews highly visible where prospective clients are looking, this also helps ensure it’s the Harcourts office that is top of the list in a Google search.
Because RateMyAgent has refined the use of SMS for surveying and developed a highly effective reminder programme, our pilot has seen response rates around 45% as opposed to the 30% we normally achieve. That means a whole lot more testimonials and representative feedback from a wider cross-section of clients.
The client feedback from both surveys will flow seamlessly into H360, where every business owner, manager, and agent able to see the relevant CX data. Accessed through The Hub, individual agents will get an immediate view of their NPS in virtually real time and see how this compares with the average for their office, franchise, or region. Meanwhile business owners will be able to drill down into the detail for all agents in their business, helping to constantly lift performance and ensure a flourishing pipeline of new business.
4. Google integration comes at no charge and there’s a Harcourts-exclusive 25% discount on all RateMyAgent subscriptions. Normally Google integration is only available as part of a RateMyAgent paid-for subscription tier, but Harcourts offices and agents get it included as part of the complimentary tier, which includes survey send and result collation as per the current CX programme. Plus if an office or agent wants to really grow their digital profile using RateMyAgent’s wide range of applications, they receive a 25% on-going discount on all subscription packages, exclusive to Harcourts.
6. Automated data flows mean surveys land at the right time, with no work for offices. The entire data flow will be automated from H360 and agents and offices need to do very little in order to benefit – primarily ensuring that client data is accurately entered into Vault RE or whatever CRM they are using. The automation means we can survey clients the day after unconditional or settlement, ensuing we’re really top of mind. And if unconditional and settlement occur on the same day, we’ll delay the send of the second survey for a week to avoid confusing clients.
When can you benefit? The International team are currently finalising the technical integration and working with the in-country Support teams on final specifications. The in-country teams will then be publishing the planned roll-out process scheduled for later this year, so please keep a close eye on communications from your Regional or State Support Office!
7. Our great reviews are suddenly much more visible. We now are no longer running CX in a ‘closed circuit’. In addition to the Google integration, RateMyAgent of course shows results from many other real estate businesses across Australia and New Zealand. As we have great CX results and a really robust delivery based around the Harcourts Promise, we have nothing to fear from comparison, in fact only a great showcase for our delivery of the finest experience in real estate.

Talking TED and all his friends

I’m usually an early adopter of new technologies with a phone chock full of apps, however I didn’t get into TED Talk when it first began nor when it became uber popular some years ago. Well, it’s never too late! After reading a great article about TED talk I’m now a complete convert and thought I’d share a few excerpts as to why. What is a TED Talk? According to TED.com, “TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.” Basically, they are targeted talks presented by subject area experts. TED talks are an amazing source of encouragement, learning, inspiration and belly laughs. Why TED Talks? 1. They are short. We all have a lot to do and don’t always have enough time to do it. TED talks are all short–18 minutes or less. TED also allows you to search by the type of talk you want and the length.

1. How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over by Mel Robbins (a TEDx talk) An inspirational talk. Mel Robbins, a CNN commentator and the contributing editor of Success Magazine, gives a blunt and real talk about how our minor choices have a huge impact on our life.

She has a very no-nonsense approach but she also gives very tangible tips on ways we can change the way we think and the way we act to make our lives better. 2. How Great Leaders Inspire Action by Simon Sinek This is a great talk for leaders. Sinek, who is an author, speaker and leadership expert, introduces the idea that people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. He gives real life examples to make his points and walks us through a great exercise to think about our own lives. 3. FLOODS & FEARS A CITY UNDER WATER JACQUI BARTHOLOMEUSZ Multiple Business Owner, Brisbane, Harcourts Queensland, Australia. During the recent NSW/QLD flood crisis Jacqui’s flagship office in Ascot was submerged in two metres of muddy water destroying brand new furnishings and computers but not her team’s spirit. 1. Can you tell me a little about the recent flooding in QLD? It was so quick and it affected properties never affected before so it was really unexpected. People were in shock. 2. What was the worst you saw? A person we had just sold a property to, had the whole bottom floor of their new home under water. Seeing their distress. The amount of people needing somewhere to live – multiple applications were coming in and very quickly we had no rental properties left. So many applications missed out and yet all were deserving.
JESSICA CALVERT Property Management Operations Manager, Harcourts Queensland, Australia. During the recent NSW/QLD flood crisis Jess put in enormous hours including weekends to ensure our business owners had the support and guidance they needed. It was said that Jess was a beacon of light and hope during their darkest hours. 1. Can you tell me a little about the recent flooding in NSW? I have never seen or experienced anything quite like it. It felt like we were given plenty of notice to prepare, but at the same time it happened so quickly. The rate the water was rising right in front of my eyes was just unbelievable. 2. What was the worst you saw? I drove down to northern NSW as soon as I could to drop off anything I could. The drive down was extremely confronting. The debris on the side of the road, deceased livestock, native animals, family pets. The amount of dead end streets and U-turns made because the roads were too heavily eroded it wasn’t safe to keep travelling down them. Driving through suburb after suburb with their homes spilled out on the street, completely unsalvageable. 3. How were you personally affected? My street became submerged at one point, about knee height. Luckily for me I had already moved my car to higher ground, and I live in a second story unit. 4. You lead a massive effort of recovery when most were looking upon the devastation frozen or waiting on more. Where does that strength come from? It didn’t feel like ‘leadership’ or ‘strength’ at the time. It was the right thing to do – and that comes naturally. 5. What was your lowest moment? Arriving in Murwillumbah, after being on the road for a couple hours seeing all of the devastation, as soon as I stopped driving – I had a moment where I took everything in – and just felt so bad for everyone in the community. 32 INSIDE Harcourts
3. How were you personally affected?
6. Who stood out during that dreadful day? I couldn’t pinpoint one person. It was the entire community spirit. I was just one of many people who travelled a long way to lend a hand in any way I possibly could. Cars just kept arriving with more supplies, and more help – it was so amazing to witness. 7. What were some of the worst challenges for people out there? I think the biggest and worst challenge for people & their communities was the clean up. I can only imagine how hard it would be losing all your beloved possessions, and then having to collect every single picture, item, memory and move it out to the street where it is to be collected and dumped. Not only physically draining, but emotionally draining. 8. Were their people you couldn’t help? Of course! The donations & supplies I took down were snapped up within five minutes of me arriving. There were still streets that were flooded in that we couldn’t get to. There are plenty of people across Queensland who are still displaced as a result of the floods. 9. How did you help your team through this? We all helped each other. It’s the Australian Spirit to get in and help your mates. Constant calls & emails to check in, a lunch delivery, a day in the office on the tools. Whatever they needed, we were there. 10. Did you break down at any time? I didn’t – I was conscious that so many people around me had it much worse. I was very lucky. 11. What do you think is true strength? Helping people is easy, it’s the right thing to do. I think the true strength was displayed in those who lost everything, and still got on with it. Or those who lost everything and were strong enough to be vulnerable and ask for help.
We lost our Ascot office. It was our new office that we were all so proud of. It was hard to see it close. It was two and a half months to repair. We only re-opened recently. Trying to keep the PM mangers supported. Re-deploying staff to cope with the huge number of calls coming in. We all had to be hands-on because of the sheer volume of people stressed and in need. There was enormous pressure and workload on the team. 4. You led a massive effort of recovery when most were looking upon the devastation frozen or waiting on more. Where does that strength come from? You gotta do what you gotta do. It was important to get the office cleaned out by the end of the Sunday so we could cover the office and look after our rental properties and clients. I had awesome team members who jumped in and did what had to be done. The sales team took over the phones for the Property Managers taking messages so the PMs could cope with contacting insurers and owners of over 60 properties affected. 5. What was your lowest moment? Feeling so sad for the people we couldn’t find property for – we just couldn’t satisfy everyone no matter how hard we tried. 6. Who stood out during that dreadful day? The whole team. In the morning we prioritised what had to be done and end of day we reflected on the day focusing on what we had achieved and not what we couldn’t do. We did this daily so that the days didn’t blend into one. 7. What were some of the worst challenges for people out there? Homelessness and people who never thought they would be in a position where they needed to rent. They had no idea how bad it was and many had unrealistic expectations (turning down property) only to find out quickly that there were no properties left. So frustrating for us. Many had no insurance or didn’t understand why their contents weren’t covered.
8. Were their people you couldn’t help? Yes – we probably said “No we don’t have anything.” 30 times per day – it was constant. Brisbane property stock was already reduced before the flood so after the flood it became critical. 9. How did you help your team through this? Just by being present. Sitting beside them. Taking over some of the hard conversations when they’d had enough. Giving them a break. Providing practical options. I’m a ‘sleeves rolled up’ leader anyway. 10. Did you break down at any time? No,I was too busy and everyone was watching. I was very mindful we had come off financially better than many, so felt grateful we were busy. Businesses around us like the coffee shop had taken a big hit. We were lucky to keep all of our people working from our other offices. 11. What do you think is true strength? You are as strong as the support and team you have around you. It is the strength of the relationships you have that keep you present. With a strong team you know it’s going to be OK. AUSTRALIA UPDATE Harcourts Foundation Digs Deep for Flood Recovery The Harcourts Foundation was proud to present the funds from the Harcourts Flood Appeal to the Australian Red Cross. Represented by Mike Green, Executive Director Operations, and Mitch Green, Head of People and Culture, the Harcourts Foundation handed over a cheque for $41,280.48 raised across Australia and New Zealand. “This money was raised by donations from our corporate team, the network’s offices from across Australia and New Zealand and from our Foundation fund”, said Mr Mike Green. “The intense storms and rainfall across Queensland and NSW caused unprecedented flooding across both states.”
Congratulations to everyone at Monarch Real Estate Ltd and thank you for your ongoing support of the Foundation.
New Zealand HX Business Partner update 2022 Our Business Partners are a huge asset to Harcourts and every year at the conference we get to see first-hand just how engaged our partners are. The time, energy and effort they put into this year’s conference was next level. They were informative, they were fun, they truly exemplified what conference is all about.
Auctioneer of the Year goes above and beyond for charity
Business Partners provide support, education, products and/or services to team members and clients to take their businesses to the next level. They are often quiet supporters behind the scenes, offering
“Tens of thousands of homes and businesses were without power or damaged by floodwaters – many remain damaged.” “Ten Harcourts offices and many Harcourts team members and families were also directly impacted and left without a home or severely damaged properties and offices, so it was natural for us to want to do our bit to help out with the recovery.” “It was such a hard time for many people and to see communities just band together to help with the recovery effort was just amazing.” “You always hear about the legendary Australian spirit, our community’s toughness, resilience and ability to go above and beyond for your neighbour.” “It is our hope that this donation will go a long way to helping people in NSW and QLD to access the assistance they need – whether it be to help them return home, provide financial support or to engage psychosocial support.” The Harcourts Foundation donation was presented by Mike Green, Executive Director Operations, Harcourts International and Mitch Green, Head of People and Culture, Harcourts International to Colin Sivalingum, QLD Director, Australian Red Cross on 17th May 2022.
our network some amazing offers on crucial goods or services across the country. They understand the value of the network, and work hard to ensure their level of service is above and beyond. Thank you all for collaborating with us.”

In an accolade that can be won just once by any individual and is only awarded when a worthy recipient is nominated and accepted, the Roy Weston Medal is one of those rare privileges that is not often granted. Award nominees must be nominated by business owners and have served a minimum of 5 years with the Harcourts Group. The award is then judged on a points system covering the areas of: LOYALTY: Focusing on the length of service with the Harcourts/Roy Weston Group RESPECT: Centering on Harcourts peer recognition and leadership CONTRIBUTION: Being the overall promotion and contribution made to the Harcourts Group Our Recipient for 2022 Here at Harcourts, we continuously celebrate our award-winning offices, agents, property managers, administrators and business owners. All incredibly hard-working people who embody the values of Harcourts, people that live, breathe and bleed blue. The person we are honoring tonight with the Roy Weston Medal is one such person. When

asking people who work closely with this person, they are full of stories and reasons as to why this year’s winner is more than deserving of this accolade. Truly dedication to going above and beyond, this person is a true blue Harcourts person, through and through. Her commitment to the values of people first, doing the right thing, being courageous and fun and laughter shines through in everything she does and says. With over 17 years of service to Harcourts, there is no doubt this individual’s loyalty to the group and our purpose. Her dedication, reliability, passion and trustworthiness has earned the respect of all those who have had the privilege of working with her. She has worked tirelessly to support our offices and individuals to learn, grow and tap into their own superpower. An incredible colleague, friend, wife, mother
and all-round super woman – it is my absolute honour and pleasure to announce this year’s Roy Weston Medal winner as Jenni Wood, our very own Harcourts WA Academy Trainer/Business Development Manager! Many of you will know how passionate Jenni is about her role at Harcourts WA and her commitment to the success of each and every team member that she trains or business owner and office that she works with to ensure they’re performing at their absolute best. She is one of our hardest workers and biggest cheerleaders, and truly embodies the values attributed to Mr Roy Weston and what this award stands for – loyalty, respect and contribution. I could not be prouder to have Jenni as part of our team and family, she truly is a superwoman and the epitome of everything we are about here at Harcourts. Congratulations Jenni!
