Each edition of our province newsletter provides timely articles and photographs that illustrate the life of our membership’s salient contributions to the growth and development of our grand fraternal group. I am pleased to commend your attention to this latest issue of The Kappa Chronicle. Perhaps it is not undue exertion to say that your critical role plays a vital segment in our ongoing effort to share the Kappa story of courage and perseverance with the general public The most important benefit of your support is the knowledge that it will have a lasting impact on generations of Americans to come. In the interest of clarity, we have a moral obligation, a privilege, and a responsibility to share and celebrate our common story with others

Kappa Alpha Psi’s very own Dr Andre’ E Godsey, Sr, recently had the privilege of having music he composed performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall On Friday, November 10, Parma Recordings Presented “A Grand Journey Vol 2,” which is an album that Trio Casals performed The piano, violin, and cello sounds graced the packed Weill Recital Hall walls
Brother Dr. Godsey, a Spring ‘94 initiate of the Upper Marlboro-Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc, has composed music for the last 15 years. He has found his voice in the contemporary classical music venue. He has inspired and entertained national and international audiences from Baltimore, MD, to Sau Paulo, Brazil He also received the Global Music Award in 2020 for his First Symphony, the first movement in C# Minor entitled Themes for Soren Kierkegaard He has composed numerous small vocal works in various instrumentation. During the next
few weeks, he plans to release a performance of an opera suite that he has completed.
Brother Dr Godsey’s piece, String Trio No 1: Reflections Through the Windows Raindrops, is a heartbreaking aria played in his opera It takes the listener on a relatively slow journey (Andante, the first part of the song). Then, it moves to a moderate pace, gently picking up its tempo (Moderato con Moto, the second part of the song). The song closes with a faster and more upbeat pace that could be described as victorious (Allegro Vivace, the third part of the song). Brother Dr. Godsey received a standing ovation after the trio finished playing his work
To have your music performed between the tremendous musical walls of Carnegie Hall is a privilege that does not require being a musician Brother Dr Godsey has achieved an accomplishment that many composers will never obtain. This goal was born in an unknowing premonition he had many years ago while in New York City He and his lovely wife, Lakita Godsey, found themselves walking from 34th Street and Grand Central Station to 57th Street, the location of Carnegie Hall, for an opera they were attending. They did not realize how far they had walked when they found themselves before the majestic Carnegie Hall In their delight, the couple decided to take a photo before the national landmark, and Brother Dr. Godsey whimsically stated, “One day, somebody will play my music here.”Little did they know that that statement would become a reality five years later.
Brother Dr Godsey was inspired to write Reflections Through the Windows Raindrops as part of his opera, United in Chaos. It is a heartbreaking aria about a physician who is unable to save the life of her patient, whom an overzealous police officer shot. When asked what his next project was, our good brother said he was working on another play at the prestigious hall. He has submitted music
for live performances in Chicago, Illinois, and is working on his second opera.
Brother Dr Godsey is an Aberdeen (MD) Alumni Chapter member. Brothers from Aberdeen (MD) Alumni and Chester (PA) Alumni were out in support many of his family and friends attended to support him and his major accomplishment
Brother Dr. Godsey holds a Ph. D. in Human Services from Capella University, a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and a Master of Arts in Music Education from Liberty University He was the valedictorian of the class of 1991 at Sojourner- Douglass College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Administration and Management.

Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni
By: David HillIn a world where the exchange of information and knowledge is at our fingertips, the Alexandria- Fairfax Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is taking a significant step forward by propelling an initiative designed to empower fathers, bringing Kappa fathers together for the betterment of us all. The Fathers Initiative is a support movement created to bring brothers planning on becoming fathers, who are currently in their fatherhood walk, or who have any experience in the fatherhood spectrum together to share their intellectual equity through organic conversation. It serves as a platform for open discussions on a wide range of topics surrounding modern fatherhood, offering a space for healing, sharing experiences, and nurturing growth
In the information age, a wealth of resources can help individuals understand their experiences, mindset, upbringing, and personal healing. The Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter recognizes the importance of harnessing this wealth of information to support fathers on their journey. The primary goal of the Fathers Initiative is to build a community where brothers can exchange experiences, viewpoints, perspectives, and wisdom Through these dialogues, they aim to collectively evolve into better fathers and stewards of generational change.
As the initiative gains momentum, the vision is to expand its reach to the provincial level and beyond, involving the broader Fraternity The ultimate goal is to create a network that nurtures and supports fathers in every corner of the Kappa Alpha Psi brotherhood and our communities.
The Fathers Initiative covers an array of topics that can significantly impact the lives of fathers:
Child Care: The discussion revolves around effective parenting techniques, resources, and strategies to raise well-rounded children.
Relationships with Spouse: This initiative focuses on fostering a healthy, supportive relationship with a spouse through pregnancy and postpartum.
Emotional Intelligence: Fatherhood involves understanding and managing one's emotions and fostering emotional intelligence in children This topic delves into how fathers can best guide their children.
Generational Curses: This topic tackles breaking the cycles of generational challenges
and traumas, ensuring a brighter future for future generations.
Triggers of Frustration and Common Experiences: Fatherhood can come with moments of frustration By discussing everyday experiences and motivations, the initiative helps fathers cope effectively and find productive solutions
The Fathers Initiative at the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter is not just about dialogue; it's about creating a community of support, growth, and empowerment It recognizes that the fatherhood journey is profound and filled with challenges, triumphs, and moments of personal reflection Through shared experiences and wisdom, fathers can become the best versions of themselves for their children
As the initiative evolves, its impact will extend far beyond the chapter, reaching the broader Fraternity of Kappa Alpha Psi. The Fathers Initiative is a testament to the power of brotherhood, support, and commitment to nurturing future generations of strong, compassionate, and informed fathers

"SPARTAN PRIDE: Lindsey highlights Dominion Energy for offering Educational Equity programs to provide scholarships and resources for underrepresented minority students and STEM education"
Norfolk State University alumnus, Troy Lindsey, can often be spotted sporting his green and gold colors, whether it’s from the sidelines enjoying homecoming festivities, mentoring students, or meeting with university leaders.
Troy Lindsey, a 1988 graduate, loves displaying his Spartan pride. Lindsey now enjoys strengthening these connections to the community through his role as Dominion Energy's Manager of State and Local Affairs.
He still lives in Hampton Roads and works in Norfolk is not too far from campus.
“Community is everything; I enjoy coming back to campus as often as I can Taking time to give back to the university that I came from is important,” said Lindsey “I am also proud of my commitment to serve through Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc Kappa League, a mentorship program helping to prepare underprivileged high school males for college”
Lindsey emphasizes the importance of giving back. After 22 years with the company, the thing that Lindsey enjoys most is Dominion Energy’s fulfillment of promises, like HBCU
Promise, including Norfolk State, which received a 2.75-million-dollar grant. The sixyear partnership and a 25-million- dollar grant are distributed to 11 of the Nation’s HBCUs across Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina
Dominion Energy also offers multiple other Educational Equity programs, such as the Diversity Student Conference, to provide scholarships and resources for underrepresented minority students and STEM education. “These programs are important because they show that Dominion Energy is passionate about supporting diverse perspectives and ideas,” said Lindsey. “We avoid tunnel vision by promoting the education of students of color and recognizing historically Black colleges and universities. We want everyone in our service area to know that we want to give back, we want to help, we listen, and we care.”
In addition to his instrumental work connecting Dominion Energy’s HBCU Promise to Norfolk State, Lindsey provides support to the community with the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project. “CVOW is a 9.8-billiondollar project, 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, which, once completed in 2026, will provide safe, reliable, and renewable energy to 660,000 homes,” said Lindsey “This is the largest project in company history and a huge step in the transition toward renewable energy, which is the future We are focusing on solar and wind power, resources that we can continue to use because they will never run out”
Lindsey, a mathematics major, is hopeful that more students of color will pursue careers in STEM, including jobs related to offshore wind, which is a growing industry. One entry point is internships, he said Plus, he encourages students to find mentors who can aid them in their educational journey. “Internships are so
important If I could tell students one thing, it would be to take an internship, gain that experience in your field, and take time to discover if a certain company and career path is right for you,” stated Lindsey. “Enjoy your college experience and build that connection to campus, but take your future seriously and do things that will help you advance.” Lindsey encourages fellow alumni to get involved on campus, invest in future generations through mentorship programs, and always wear their Spartans gear with pride!
Chesapeake/Virginia Beach (VA) Alumni
By: Andre ThercyWhen I ended my track career, I thought it would be the end for me regarding any participation in sports. For the longest, I hated sports because I was that one kid who had the ultimate dream to one day make it pro Who would think I would become the #1 jump coach in the state of Va I first began my coaching career when I was 18 at my graduating high school, Kings Fork. That first year coaching I had one freshman boy who surpassed a 21ft long jump and a sophomore boy jumping 21ft as well. I had a handful of girls jumping 16ft and a girl triple jumping 36ft The greatest reward from coaching was not winning but seeing each one of these kids excited to achieve something in life Some of the kids came from troubled homes so to achieve anything was their greatest reward.
After graduation from Radford University, I returned to Kings Fork and was welcomed back as the head jump coach In my first year returning I managed to have a sophomore boy jump 21ft, 3 inches to place 3rd overall in the boys 4A State championship Alex Robinson came in ranked Number 7 and a true underdog but managed to outdo himself in the state meet After the meeting, he managed to receive a surprising interest letter from the University of Kentucky. Although he was a young athlete many colleges saw his potential early on. That year our girls 4x2 managed to also win states to create a well-known expectation of the girls winning the relay Kings Fork was an amazing experience, but I did not realize that God had an even greater obstacle for me
Completing a successful indoor season, I was granted the opportunity to coach for the Western Branch High School track and field team, Western Branch at the time was known for its national program and was currently ranked as the #1 high school track program in the country During my first year on board, I teamed up with a few future star athletes, Llyric Driscoll, Jayden Snyder, Tyler Morris, Shynice Haskins, and David Fraiser Out of those athletes, Jayden was named the National Long Jump Champion for AAU OPEN Standing Shynice was also 3rd place at Nationals, and Llyric ended with a third-place finish as well. That upcoming outdoor seasonLlyric managed to finish 3rd place in the 6A State Long Jump with an 18’9 ft jump. David Fraiser who was one of my late-coming jumpers managed to jump 22’11ft with only two weeks of practice to finish 3rd place in the 6A Boys Long Jump. David also managed to win the high jump as well He thanked me because he never had any jump spikes and I purchased him a pair which he loved and competed well in I was mind-blown at the history in the making but who would think I was just getting started.
The start of my legacy began when my jumpers Llyric and Tyler managed to demolish the competition both indoors and outdoors Tyler managed to take home the 6A indoor state long jump as he had already won nearly every jump competition that season He then turned around to win the boy 6A outdoor triple jump as well. Lyric alongside managed to finish third place in the girl's long jump, triple-jump, and high jump indoor and outdoor season. This year was a great year but also a tough year because it led to me taking a break from my coaching career. After long thought, I came back for Llyric's final season where she ended up becoming top 10 in the US for all three jumps. At one point Llyric was sitting #2 overall in the nation for the triple jump. She continued a rampage indoor season racking up a total of 50 points in the indoor regionals meet. She went on to states to win the girls' Long jump for 6A
With Llyric being the athlete, I coached the longest, our relationship was more like a father to a daughter. Leading to the outdoor season she easily swept competition and created a lot of attention She gained interest from Louisville, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, North Carolina State, and Illinois After continuing her amazing season, we all ended up agreeing that Illinois would be the best fit working with the Olympian coach Petros Krprianou After signing she continued to win the girls, outdoor girls triple jump with a hug mark of 47’7 which would place her US# 2 This mark gave her the increased chance to go to new balance Nationals and possibly win the meet. I have developed two extremely strong hurdlers and sprinters by the name of Micah Hinton and Antonio Smith. Micah is one of the top sprinters and hurdlers in 6A and Smith just recently picked up his second ring in the 300meter hurdles. Both athletes are dynamic and returning for their senior year
Within all my athletes it was not the athlete capabilities that I see. But it was the want to be successful in the sport Each athlete that I coach I seek to find their greatest advantage and greatest disadvantage on and off the track To be a great coach, you must be able to maintain these athletes on big and small stages, but you also want to set them up for life skills that will help them throughout their journey. I never thought I would be 28 years old with 4 state championship rings and classified as the top jump coach in the state of Virginia. In order to get here it took sacrifice and dedication to these kids. Lifelong bonds were created alongside a support system from both ends. These kids need our wisdom and love. Little do we know by being a good coach we can create even better ones
Anyone who knows me truly understands how important giving back is to me I understand firsthand the struggles growing up, and it is OUR job as a human beings to touch at least one person’s life, and I guarantee you it will pay itself forward to the next person. Creating this non- profit almost seven years ago through the thinking of Lance was nothing more than a blessing. We have touched the lives of families, other non-profits, schools, churches, and other fundraisers
A little over nine days ago, I received a phone call from a number I didn’t recognize, and I usually don’t answer for fear of talking to another telemarketer However, something told me this time to pick up, and I did.
Unknown male: “Hello, may I speak with Raymond.”
Me: This is him, and who am I speaking with?”
Unknown male: “This is Drew from the Baltimore Ravens.”
Me: “As in my favorite football team?”
Drew laughed and replied, “Yes.”
https://wwwbaltimoreravenscom/community/ community-qb/
The late Dr Martin Luther King Jr said best, “What are you doing for others”?
This is truly a blessing and I will continue to do what I was called to do.
After a minute of small talk, Drew informed me that Lance nominated me for the “2023 - T Rowe Price Baltimore Ravens Community Quarterback Award”, and he was calling to inform me that I was one of the five winners out of many that were received
Through the annual Community Quarterback Award, the Baltimore Ravens have teamed up with T. Rowe Price and the National Football League to honor exceptional Maryland volunteers who devote their time to strengthening our communities. Supported by the Ravens Foundation, Inc, T Rowe Price, and the NFL Foundation, the award recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication, and commitment to improving the communities in which they live.
Honorees will be awarded Ravens apparel, autographed memorabilia, a commemorative trophy, and a financial grant benefiting their nonprofit organizations Looking forward to the game and recognition at 12:40 on Sunday before we take on the “Fins.”

We had the pleasure of having two guest panelists: Brother Sean Joe, PhD, MSW, and Ms Ezsa Allen, MD, RMHCI. Ms. Allen provided the practitionerlevel view of the mental health dynamics in the black community and, specifically, some of the challenges facing black males.
Roughly two dozen participants logged on for the Mental Health Town Hall. In addition to members of Kappa Alpha Psi, some silhouettes and other community members were in attendance.
The CPSS Health & Wellness Committee has endeavored to raise awareness of topics that black men and black people face daily Previous topics have included:
-Oral health and hygiene
-Diet and Nutrition
-Metabolic syndrome
-Prostate cancer
-Diabetes treatment and prevention -Covid, influenza, and RSV, virus, & others.
We look forward to hosting this event in the future.
On Saturday, July 29th, Howard County, Maryland residents experienced their first Black Excellence Gala presented by the BROTHERS of the Columbia (MD) Alumni Chapter. The event was significant because it was predicated on showcasing talented visual and musical arts for and by us. It also provided professional networking opportunities and raised funds for Columbia's Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Foundation (KAPSF).
Under the leadership and with the full support of the Chapter’s 35th Polemarch Eddie A. Winkley (Alpha Mu/Fa 81), Committee Chairs
Randall Thames (Beta Epsilon/Fa 85) and Arinze Ifekauche (HX/FA 2006), created a concept that had never been seen in Howard County to visually, musically, socially and politically celebrate Black art and culture in such a manner
Black tie events and high- end cocktail parties are the norm for those within influential social and political circles fluted glasses filled with sweet white wines or overly carbonated champagnes. Charcuterie boards perfectly aligned with blue cheese crumbles and wedges of aged parmesan. Columbia Alumni thought of something new. Partnering with those who look like us, think like us, and experience the triumphs and trials like us. Let’s celebrate us. The Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College (HCC) in the heart of downtown Columbia was the perfect place to stage a gala. The 2-year commuter college, under the leadership of the first African American president, Dr. Daria J. Willis, boasts a 63% black student population, which is more than the state average of 56%. Invited state and local dignitaries such as Maryland State Senator Clarence K Lam, Maryland State Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Maryland Delegates Pam L. Guzzone, Terri Hill and Chao, and Councilman Opel T Jones were just a few of the elected officials present. Fraternally, Chapter Polemarchs Troy Bishop (SSA), Don Ervin (BAC), Michael Wilson (GRock), Joe Williams (BMAC), and Brandon Craddock (WDCA) were in attendance to enjoy and support the event as only true BROTHERS could
The gala arts were on display as the talented and celebrated Hip Hop Violinist Leanne “L Stringz” Holmes serenaded guests with her renditions of popular hip-hop and R&B tunes while playing in the round. Spoken Word Artist Kimberly “KD” Williams blessed the mic with two original works specifically written for the event. Vice Polemarch Keith Sykes (CMD/Sp. 96) even participated with an original spoken word piece to open the presentation portion of the program. Beautiful canvas work with bold colors and depictions of brown and black faces and scenes by Delvia Wilder, Randy Walters,
and Kerry Johnson were the backdrop but definitely at the forefront of guests as they entered the venue and mingled throughout the evening
KAPSF President Irby Hunter, Jr (Dallas Alumni/Sp 92) recently awarded seven (7) scholarships to Howard County graduating seniors The foundation plans to increase the number of donations and amounts awarded in 2024, with a portion of the nearly $25K raised leading up to the July 29th gala Hunter says, “Black excellence begins with exceptional education and training; therefore, it is incumbent upon the community to financially support the collegiate aspirations of this county's youth.”
Utilizing technology keeps us socially conscious and aware of our environment and the resources that slip away daily Instead of printing out hard copy programs that potentially wind up lining the inside of someone’s office trash can, Chapter Technology Chair Michael Draper (CMD/Sp. 22) created a digital and downloadable program for the event that guests received via an email link.
As with all celebrations, there were songs, dancing, handshakes, and fraternal fellowship. Timothy Banks (CMD/Sp 23) and the HCC Facilities and AV teams ensured the event ran smoothly by providing that everyone in attendance had ample space to enjoy, engage with, and enjoy the event. Polemarch Winkley said of the event,” This Gala helped the attendees better understand the creativity within our community. Everyone left with a feeling of self-worth. Our Chapter deviated from the norm to celebrate art and culture while focusing on financial support for our young men and women seeking a higher education”

By: Carl BrownOn September 16, 2023, immediately following the regularly scheduled monthly meeting, Brothers from the Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter (FGAAC) convoyed from Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia, to the Wonder City Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center in Hopewell for a special presentation. Each year, FGAAC recognizes the work of Wonder City by providing supplies to support the residents Brother Richard Fort (Winter 1981 FGAAC Initiate, Chapter Invisible, 2017) resided in Wonder City for several years. At Silhouette Fort's request, the brothers routinely visited the center to ensure his well-being These visits continued until Brother Fort passed away. Each year, we meet Silhouette Fort at the center to provide a donation as a small token of appreciation for their previous care of our dear brother. This year was no different.
We met with Ms. Sharon Easter-Webster (Director) to provide our gift on this day. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the HyattsvilleLandover (MD) Alumni Chapter participated in the Christmas in Suitland Children’s Program at Suitland Elementary School We have been working with the residents of Suitland, Maryland, for the past seven years Noting that the Suitland community had not been a targeted area for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc in the past, we, the members of the Hyattsville-Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter, took it upon ourselves, when asked to lend our services to help this community in need
We began our partnership by delivering Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to families experiencing food insecurities during the holiday season under the leadership of our Community Social Action Service Chair, Brother Melvin Powell Thus, our partnership with the citizens of Suitland was born! We were asked to participate in the Christmas in Suitland Program by Ms Elsie Jacobs, who spearheads this community service effort within the Suitland community. Our chapter gives unwrapped toys to the children of several elementary schools in the surrounding area. We collect the toys all during November into the early portion of December, then deliver them to the school the evening of the program. We had over 30 Brothers in attendance, along with the help of the Prince George’s County Police Department and the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc
The evening started with dinner for the children, parents, and other program participants Then, with the help of the Suitland Fire Department, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on a fire engine The night commenced with the distribution of hundreds of toys, coats, and shoes to the children present.
We always look forward and are excited to be a part of this very important cause each year. Residing in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States for African Americans and still seeing so many of our neighbors in need is sobering Whatever we can do as a fraternity to help ease the gap and be an example of agents of change and public service, we are more than willing, happy, and proud to do so!

Community service is the very foundation of what we do and the reason why we are so active in our service area of HyattsvilleLandover (MD). Our donation drive has consistently served as a tertiary prevention program to help aid homeless shelters and centers in the fight against Prince George’s County homelessness We are very grateful and extremely appreciative of the support that we received from everyone who contributed to our event We certainly could not have done it without you and your willingness to help those in need.

The heart of the event lay in its fundraising efforts for the Alexandria-Fairfax Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund This fund has a noble mission: to provide scholarships to underrepresented young men, offering them a brighter future through higher education. By dancing the night away and supporting the "Function," attendees celebrated their heritage and contributed to a cause that promises to uplift and empower the next generation.
One of the evening's major highlights was the live performance by Future Band, a name synonymous with GoGo music excellence in the DMV area. Their infectious beats and energetic melodies had the crowd on their feet, creating an electric atmosphere that added an extra layer of magic to the night The band's presence encapsulated the celebration and unity that defines the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter's commitment to its community

Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni
By: David HillIn a world where the exchange of information and knowledge is at our fingertips, the Alexandria- Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is taking a significant step forward by propelling an initiative designed to empower fathers, bringing Kappa fathers together for the betterment of us all. The Fathers Initiative is a support movement created to bring brothers planning on becoming fathers, who are currently in their fatherhood walk, or who have any experience in the fatherhood spectrum together to share their intellectual equity through organic conversation It serves as a platform for open discussions on a wide range of topics surrounding modern fatherhood, offering a space for healing, sharing experiences, and nurturing growth.
In the information age, a wealth of resources can help individuals understand their experiences, mindset, upbringing, and
personal healing
The Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter recognizes the importance of harnessing this wealth of information to support fathers on their journey The primary goal of the Fathers Initiative is to build a community where brothers can exchange experiences, viewpoints, perspectives, and wisdom. Through these dialogues, they aim to collectively evolve into better fathers and stewards of generational change.
As the initiative gains momentum, the vision is to expand its reach to the provincial level and beyond, involving the broader Fraternity. The ultimate goal is to create a network that nurtures and supports fathers in every corner of the Kappa Alpha Psi brotherhood and our communities
The Fathers Initiative covers an array of topics that can significantly impact the lives of fathers:
Child Care: The discussion revolves around effective parenting techniques, resources, and strategies to raise well-rounded children Relationships with Spouse: This initiative focuses on fostering a healthy, supportive relationship with a spouse through pregnancy and postpartum.
Emotional Intelligence: Fatherhood involves understanding and managing one's emotions and fostering emotional intelligence in children. This topic delves into how fathers can best guide their children.
Generational Curses: This topic tackles breaking the cycles of generational challenges and traumas, ensuring a brighter future for future generations.
Triggers of Frustration and Common Experiences: Fatherhood can come with
moments of frustration By discussing everyday experiences and motivations, the initiative helps fathers cope effectively and find productive solutions
The Fathers Initiative at the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter is not just about dialogue; it's about creating a community of support, growth, and empowerment. It recognizes that the fatherhood journey is profound and filled with challenges, triumphs, and moments of personal reflection. Through shared experiences and wisdom, fathers can become the best versions of themselves for their children.
As the initiative evolves, its impact will extend far beyond the chapter, reaching the broader Fraternity of Kappa Alpha Psi The Fathers Initiative is a testament to the power of brotherhood, support, and commitment to nurturing future generations of strong, compassionate, and informed fathers.

Spirits Distillery
College Park/Sandy Spring (MD) Alumni
By: Jerome ParkerOn August 20, 2023, CPSS brothers and guests, including Maryland State Senator Ron Watson, attended a Fellowship Outing at Sagamore Spirits Distillery. We enjoyed a Distillery tour, a whiskey tasting, food at Nick’s Fish House, and Cigars and drinks on Brother Jerome Parker’s boat.
This is our second year hosting this event, and it is a great opportunity for brothers from the chapter and brothers who are considering getting reclaimed to come out and fellowship. Brothers participated in a very educational and historical whiskey distillery tour Did you know that rye whiskey has been around much longer than bourbon? Rye actually has a long-time history in Maryland and Sagamore explains how they intend to bring back that tradition of producing quality rye whiskey in the state.
During the tour, we learned a lot of science goes into making good whiskey.
Following the tour, the brothers indulged in whiskey tasting that included a flight of various rye whiskeys It was so good to see line brothers, blood brothers, father and sons, and cousins getting together, laughing and having a good time
Following the whiskey tasting, the brothers headed to Nick’s Fish House for some good Maryland seafood Nick’s is right on the waterfront, by the docks in Baltimore’s Port Covington area, now known as the Baltimore Peninsula The brothers engaged in good conversations on a lazy Sunday afternoon and could shoot the breeze. Brother Jerome Parker pulled up to the dock with his boat, and the brothers enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with fine cigars and cool breezes off the water. After all, that’s what Nupes do!

Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni
By: Carl BrownOn November 30, 2023, The Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter (FGAAC) and Petersburg (VA) Alumni Chapter (PAC) met to pay homage to FGAAC’s Charter Member and Alpha Phi’s (Virginia State University) oldest living member, Brother Ollie Brown. Brother Ollie Brown is a 1950 initiate of the Virginia State Chapter and 1 of 13 Charter Members of the newly named Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter (Formerly known as Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter).
The Brothers met at 6:30 pm, and Brother Brown and his beautiful silhouette (Catherine) greeted them In proper Brother Brown form, he entertained the group with his thoughts on the difference between Kappa then and now. Brother Brown took the brothers on a historical journey covering everything from pledging to “true manliness” and how society has impacted the organization However, his face glowed when you mentioned that he, his son, and two grandsons are all Kappa men!
Polemarch Rolandus Branch led the Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter in the celebration He and Brother Carl Brown (Senior Kappa Committee Chairman) presented Brother Ollie and Silhouette Catherine Brown with tokens of appreciation on behalf of the chapter. Shortly after, the brothers sang the traditional birthday song, thanked Brother and Silhouette Brown for allowing us to share on their special day, and swiftly departed.
We would like to thank Brother Alvin Cannon (Polemarch, Petersburg (VA) Alumni Chapter) and the chapter members for their support and words of encouragement at this historic event.
Celebrating a brother who has been a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated member for over 70 years is a landmark event This one is always special as Brother Brown represents goodness and shares his life experiences/lessons that allow us to continue shaping our lives.

Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni
By: Carl BrownOn November 20, 2023, Polemarch Rolandus Branch led the Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter in the celebration of its 43rd Charter Day and the first since the name change. The chapter celebrates its chartering every year, but this year was particularly special because it was named after two African-American military pioneers (Lieutenant General Arthur J. Gregg and Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams)
LTG Arthur J Gregg rose from the rank of private to three-star general during his military logistics career, which began just after WWII and spanned nearly 36 years LTG Gregg, now 94, will be the only living person in modern Army history to have an installation named after him.
LTC Charity Adams was the first Black officer in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, later known as the Women’s Army Corps, in World War II and led the first predominately Black WAC unit to serve overseas: the storied 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.
On this occasion, Polemarch Branch led an outstanding Charter Day Ceremony in the presence of our special guests: Brother Paul Robinson, Eastern Province Senior Vice Polemarch, and Danny Giles, Region 3 Board Member
There were several highlights during the ceremony, but Brother Ollie Brown's (Charter Member) historic speech to the brothers was a show-stopper Brother Brown provided a soliloquy that covered the chapter’s activities from its inception to the 43rd year. He discussed the long line of leaders who continued to move the chapter forward He also spoke, in detail, on the community service, social actions, and overall impact the chapter made in the surrounding communities. The speech was excellent, but hearing it from a 93year-old (70-year member) made it all the more special.
As the brothers of the Fort Gregg-Adams (VA) Alumni Chapter always encourage 50-year and Senior Kappas to attend events, we were not shocked to have several present on this occasion. Some of the seniors in attendance were Brothers David Lee (50-year Member), Calvin Lee Sr (Senior Kappa), and Bobby Claiborne (Senior Kappa).
On behalf of Rolandus Branch (Polemarch), we want to thank Brothers Paul Robinson, Eastern Province Senior Vice Polemarch, and Danny Giles, Region 3 Board Member, for taking the time to celebrate this momentous occasion with us We would be remiss if we did not thank the Eastern Province Polemarch, Richard B. Mattox, for his support in impressing on the International Headquarters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, the importance of expediting the delivery of the new charter

The Health and Wellness Committee of the Woodbridge (VA) Alumni Chapter recently organized and hosted a highly anticipated and successful Fitness Day at Saunders Middle School This event is part of the committee's overarching mission: to inspire, promote, and maintain an environment that supports the
physical and mental well-being of its members and the communities it serves, namely Prince William and Stafford counties Twenty-three enthusiastic participants participated in the Fitness Day participants. Among them were 12 brothers, nine Kappa Leaguers, and two guardians.
At the heart of the event were two specially designed fitness stations, thoughtfully crafted to engage and challenge the participants. Led by the committee chairman, Brother William Malone, and the vice chairman, Brother Jerome Dummars, these stations guided participants through a dynamic series of exercises. From the invigorating push-ups and high knees to the energizing jumping jacks and body-weight squats, there was no shortage of stimulating activities for everyone involved
Once the participants had completed the engaging warm-up exercises at the fitness stations, they could walk for two laps on the school's track, equivalent to half a mile, or challenge themselves with a more rigorous jog of four laps, equating to a full mile It was remarkable to witness the unity within the group, as they divided almost evenly between the two options Regardless of their choice, each individual experienced an empowering surge of adrenaline and the comforting feeling of their muscles coming alive.
After completing the invigorating trackwork, all attendees regathered in the end zone of the school's football field. Here, a spirited cheer-onthree resounded through the air: HEALTH AND WELLNESS! This collective cheer was a testament to the incredible camaraderie and encouragement the committee and its members fostered.
Looking ahead, the committee is tirelessly planning exciting events and educational symposiums We are actively collaborating with guest speakers who are experts in various areas of health and wellness. These speakers will cover diverse topics, including enlightening discussions on healthy dieting, cancer awareness, and the fundamental significance of mental health
To stay informed about these upcoming events, the committee encourages all brothers to contact the chapter or the committee chairman for more information and a calendar of events.

Every year, each province within our fraternity organizes the C Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference (CRWLC) to unite our undergraduate and alumni brothers and empower them with valuable leadership skills and knowledge. The Eastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi hosted the Fall 2023 CRWLC at Hampton University, a historically black university famous for its leadership development and academic excellence In addition to engaging in productive discussions, learning from industry experts, and strengthening our bonds, the conference offered a platform for the province to come together.
This conference served as the first CRWLC leadership conference within the 35th Administration under the leadership of our 35th Grand Polemarch, Jimmy McMikle. The new national CRWLC chairman, Dr Desmon Daniel, delivered the charge to the provinces The Eastern Province delivered right away with
three special interest discussion panels, extensive leadership training, engaging workshops and life-changing networking opportunities There was also a dynamic keynote luncheon delivered from our very own 31st Grand Polemarch, Dwayne M Murray, Esq He charged brothers to stay the course in a brotherhood that is as strong as it has ever been and to continue to chart the course to uplift the fraternity to higher heights. His powerful keynote yielded a round of applause from the brothers of the Eastern Province
A panel discussion was at the conference's core, providing attendees with insightful conversations and the opportunity to interact with subject-matter experts who are also members of our prestigious fraternity. This year, several panels tackled crucial issues relevant to the fraternity Some of the key topics included:
Most of the discussion revolved around risk management, particularly regarding hazing A panel of experts discussed ways to prevent hazing and promote a safer fraternity experience in light of recent incidents within Greek letter organizations The panel members provided insight into best practices for creating a culture of respect and accountability, enabling members to understand the importance of a hazing-free environment
The conference also focused on executive leadership. Successful leaders shared their experiences and insights into effective leadership practices with attendees A positive organizational culture, strategic decisionmaking, and team building were discussed by the panelists
Positive relationships with other fraternities were also emphasized during the discussion Within and beyond the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. community, the panel discussed the importance of strong alliances, collaborations, and brotherhood. The brothers learned practical tips for strengthening fraternity relationships to foster long-lasting connections and support systems.
The CRWLC offered engaging workshops and networking opportunities in addition to the panel discussions. Various interactive sessions allowed participants to learn about chapter operations, protocol, etiquette, communication strategies, and emotional intelligence. As a result of these workshops, attendees were provided with useful tools and resources that they could immediately apply in their personal, professional, and fraternal lives
As well as that, the conference provided plenty of networking opportunities It allowed attendees to meet fellow Nupes from various chapters and establish relationships with established alumni members, who are all professionals from a wide range of fields
The C Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference at Hampton University facilitated the development of leaders, the reflection on important issues, and the growth of unity and brotherhood within the province. The conference provided a platform for meaningful conversations and knowledge exchange by featuring panel discussions on risk management, hazing, executive leadership, and fraternity relations The influence of the C Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference goes beyond the event itself, empowering Kappa
Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc to positively impact their communities. Looking forward to next year’s CRWLC Achieve!
