Production of Romeo and Juliet Receives High Praise

rovidence High Arts’ recent fall production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the 16th main-stage play produced in conjunction with DiscoveryOnstage, garnered rave reviews from audiences, press, and adjudicators alike. Running for six nights (three of which were sold out), the show featured a lead and understudy cast, giving performance and production opportunities to nearly 40 Providence High students representing every class and level of experience.

An entry in the California Educational Theatre Association’s (CETA) upcoming festival, three judges were present throughout the run and provided feedback that was beyond positive…in fact, almost perfect.
Featuring four sword fights, a ballroom dance, an original musical score, and all of the trappings that come with Shakespearean language, this was a daunting undertaking and the students more than rose to the occasion.
