Dear Providence Community,
It is my great pleasure to invite you all back to the Providence family through Vista! As the Head of School, I have the honor of witnessing the amazing achievements of our alumni and the impact you have made in your communities. Your successes are a testament to the values and education you received at Providence High School.
One of the greatest joys of my job is seeing alumni reconnect with one another and with the school. It is always heartwarming to see former classmates catch up on old times and reminisce about their days at Providence. We are excited to provide opportunities for alumni to reconnect with one another and with the school through our alumni events and programs.
At Providence, we take pride in our community and the joy that comes with being part of it. We strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages our students to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Our graduates leave Providence with a strong sense of self and a desire to make a positive impact in the world.
As we continue to navigate the challenges of the current times, it is more important than ever to come together as a community. Whether it is through volunteering, making a donation, attending events, or simply sharing your story, your contributions help us continue to provide a transformative educational experience for our students.
I invite you to join us in celebrating the joy of Providence and reconnecting with your alma mater. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in the world.

The Cinema Arts Focus Program continues to empower our students to tell great stories that emotionally impact their audiences. Students are exposed to the ins-and-outs of professional filmmaking and are able to learn from experts in the industry. Stunt professionals, Audie Resendez and Sergio Garcia visited Cinema Arts Focus students to share about their experiences working in the Hollywood stunt industry and conducted a workshop on how to safely execute a stunt fall in the most dramatic fashion! The program also welcomed Rhonda and Phil Vigeant who filled the Cinema classroom with vintage Super 8 cameras and a variety of film stock wh en they visited our Cinema freshmen conducting a hands-on workshop on the technique of shooting on real film. Some program highlights include a field trip to the American Society of Cinematographers Clubhouse in Hollywood, where students toured the facilities and learned about the history of cinematography. Another highlight includes screenwriter, producer, and actor, Steve Mallory, who invited students to share their movie loglines and to pitch an original idea for a feature film. Steve listened, workshopped, and creatively collaborated with them by asking story-driven questions and giving them professional script notes.
Yvette Amirian visited our freshmen filmmakers in April and spoke to them about her time at Providence, work experience, and more. “Providence holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I fell in love with two very important things in my life — the man who eventually became my husband, Zareh; and what eventually became my career, film editing. My first exposure to editing was through our Cinema Arts Program (then known as the Media Program). It was also where I learned the importance of collaboration with my peers, a lesson that followed me to my time at USC’s film school and into my career. The support I felt from my teachers and their encouragement to pursue my goals had a profound impact on my confidence and achievements, and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend PHS.”
Our Technology Focus Program continues to thrive under the direction of Dr. Fatima Nicdao. This 20222023 school year, we welcomed in 33 freshmen, our biggest class yet, which brings the program’s numbers to 94 total students. We also welcomed our new Tech Focus teacher, Nate Albers, who has experience teaching AP Computer Science, Robotics, and Mechanical Engineering. He has been an amazing addition to the program and Providence community. Some program highlights include Tracy Drain, NASA Flight Specialist, speaking to our entire program about her life and experiences in the STEM field, as well as her time working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Labs. Another highlight was having over half of the program travel to San Francisco and Silicon Valley to visit the Stanford School of Design Thinking, Berkley, Computer Science History Museum, Intel Museum, Apple HQ, and some sightseeing. The program also received a VEX Robotics Grant from the REC Foundation. They received funding for three separate VEX Robotic Competition teams. In addition to providing funding for all required materials and registration fees for our three teams, the foundation has also partnered us with a mentor coach that has been working in VEX competition for at least three years.
Jessica Viray is currently a student at the University of San Francisco. While at Providence, she thrived in our Tech Focus Program. She shares, “My time in the Tech Focus Program impacted my experience greatly heading into college. Being in the Tech Focus Program made me realize the careers that are possible and available to me in the future. The Tech Focus Program helped flourish my love for technology and appreciate its advances in this world, sparking my interest and desire to pursue a path in Computer Science.”
Taleen Akopian is a primary care physician, board certified in Internal Medicine. She is currently serving the local community where she grew up. She is passionate about promoting healthy lifestyle, with a focus on preventative care and the management of chronic disease.
Her medical journey has taken her across state lines and spanned over a decade, and it began during her time at Providence. As a proud member of the Med Focus Program. she forged a strong foundation through its rigorous courses, a deeper understanding of future expectations, and innumerous opportunities for exposure to the field. Dr Harjani provided a nurturing environment that allowed students to grow as individuals and recognize their personal strengths.
“I recall one of our assignments, when Dr. Harjani asked me to present on the topic of ‘Doctor of Osteopathy.’ This was a foreign concept to me, so naturally I delved into discovering more. I contacted the American Osteopathic Association and they were thrilled to learn that high school students had such a program where they could truly learn about all that medicine had to offer. It isn’t until now, as a physician, where I understand the importance of this exposure. We were more prepared going into college and knowing what we were looking for. Joining the Med Focus Program helped shape me into who I am today, and for this I am grateful.”
Our Medical Focus Program has been extremely active this school year, especially after not being able to visit St. Joseph’s all of last year due to COVID restrictions. Our students have visited a variety of departments within the hospital such as the GI Lab, Cath Lab, Emergency Department, ICU, and Central Services. They have also gone on multiple field trips, such as a visit to the Bodies Exhibit and multiple visits to the Southern California University of Health and Sciences. The program also partnered with Grand Canyon University for in-person and online lab activities such as Vital Signs, First-Aid training, nursing skills, and suture clinics. Dr. Harjani and Sona Ashjian value real world experiences and always look for opportunities for our students to gain tangible experience in the medical field.
Our Medical Focus Program classroom will officially move over to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center for classes in the 2023-2024 school year.
The Performing Arts Department has had such an incredible year full of dynamic productions and events, along with numerous educational opportunities that students participated in beyond the classroom. Choral Music ensembles attended the USC Choral Music Leadership Workshop, the Southern California Vocal Association Festival where they received a superior rating, the prestigious USC High School Choral Invitational, and more. Jack Terbush ‘23 took the podium as Student Director, which allowed him to receive professional adjudications to support his conducting journey. In the fall, the hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery, Clue, sold out five out of the six nights and raised over $13,000 that went directly back into the program. In the spring, the two-week run of Grease was completely sold out. Our talented casts and crew brought the 1950s to life on stage. Each production and event would not be possible without our amazing faculty members, student performers, Blackout Brigade members, and parents who put months of work into making each show amazing. Last but not least, the Providence Singers will be making their international debut at the Great Britain Choral Festival in the summer of 2023. The group will be performing at St. Iberius Church in Wexford as part of the American Celebration of Music in Ireland, at St. John’s Parish in Cardiff as part of the American Celebration of Music in Great Britain, and in the Great Britain Choral Festival.
Samuel Avila (he/they) is currently finishing their last semester at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music. In his time at Providence, Samuel was a part of numerous performing arts organizations on campus including being student director for Providence Singers, Home Bass, participating in spring musicals, and served as VPA Commissioner on ASB. Today, Samuel Avila is a professional singer and conductor in the Los Angeles area. He has performed in prestigious venues across Los Angeles including The Kia Forum, Hollywood Bowl, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. From Pentatonix to The Eagles to Scott Hoying and VOCES8, Samuel has performed with some of the most influential musicians within the choral and popular music industries. Currently, he is a contracted singer for the Grammy-nominated ensemble Tonality, an LA-based choir focused on uplifting BIPOC voices and social justice issues through Choral Music. Samuel has also been a member of the USC Chamber Singers since 2021 and has had the opportunity to tour across Ireland and premiere brand-new pieces from upand-coming choral artists. They are also a member of the 5-time ICCA winning a cappella group, The SoCal VoCals, and are currently competing to win their 6th Championship this year! Samuel will also make their professional conducting debut with the San Fernando Youth Chorus in April. Samuel is immensely grateful for the Performing Arts Department at Providence and urges all students with a passion for the arts to seek out opportunities to showcase your art and forge your future!
In the Visual Arts Department, student artists in Art, Ceramics, Animation, Photos, and all advanced and AP Art courses have had the opportunity to submit their work in several art competitions this year including the Burbank Youth Art Expo, Young Artist Month Showcase, and the California Streaming Photography Contest. In addition to the formal art shows being held in the fall and spring, the Visual Arts Department has collaborated with Student Led Organizations (SLOs) and the Equity and Social Justice (ESJ) Task Force to host mini art exhibits for work honoring Black History Month and Women’s History Month. This year, forty-one of our artists were featured for the Burbank Youth Art Expo and their work was displayed at the Creative Arts Center in Burbank. Azucena Ortega ‘23 won the 12th grade award for her submission and Sienna Roth ‘24 won the 11th grade award. Ortega was also named one of the fifty finalists in the Lowell Milken Art Effects National Competition. In March, Nicole Paja ‘23 was recognized by Archbishop Gomez for her work that was submitted to the Robert Graham Memorial Student Art Exhibit. Maddy Flynn ‘23, Nareg Simitian ‘23, and Bridget Crenshaw ‘24 also had work displayed at the exhibit. In April, Ortega, Paja, and Penelope DeGuzman ‘24 were honored at Adam Schiff’s Congressional Art Show.
The Class of 2024 proved to have the most spirit throughout the year. They racked up the most spirit points and earned a day off.
In our 2022-2023 year, Pioneer Athletics launched three new programs; ESports, Beach Volleyball, and Swim & Dive. In their inaugural season, Beach Volleyball placed second in league and made the CIF postseason. For Swim & Dive, Ryan Warren ‘25 qualified for the CIF Division 4 prelims. Nate Warson ‘23 became the first Providence Prep League Dive Champion. Boys Cross Country, Boys Basketball, and Softball secured Prep League Championships. Girls Cross Country team was selected as the CIF Southern Section Academic Award Team Champion for schools with less than 1,500 students. The team was honored at Angels Stadium. Our Pioneers continuously strive to make an impact in our community through service. Janet Fontaine, Christian Service Coordinator, has focused on our core mission and values of serving those that are poor and vulnerable.
The year started off strong with a charity walk in September. Over one hundred Pioneers and Pioneer parents gathered to participate in the Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration: Run, Walk, & Roll event. In October, there were three different charity walks that our community participated in; JDRF One Walk, ABMDR Walk of Life, and AIDS Walk. For the JDRF One Walk, there were multiple teams that consisted of our Pioneers. Charlie Wehrenberg ‘23 and his family had a team that raised $67,482; Emma’s Sugar Shakers, spearheaded by Emma Fernandez ‘26 and Maddie Fernandez ‘24, raised $5,020; Providence Pioneers raised $694; Christina’s T1D-Destroyers led by Christina Ghermezian ‘26, raised $652; and The Bolus Club team, driven by sisters Amalea Migliozzi ‘24 and Isabella Migliozzi ‘23, raised $102. For the AIDS Walk, Ms. Fontaine led a team of thirty-one Pioneers and walked two miles. In November, Ms. Fontaine led two walks; “Out of the Darkness” for Suicide Prevention and
“Light the Night” for LLS (the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). There was a team of about twenty-five for both walks. In December, our community sponsored twenty families through the Adopt-A-Family Program. We were able to collect, wrap, label, and deliver over five-hundred gifts.
Other student highlights include Luna Molina ‘23 and Sophia Ruiz ‘23 who both presented in a seminar in Santa Monica for Work2BeWell. W2BW is the trusted source for educational tools and resources to help activate and empower, teens, educators, and communities. Chelsea Nazareno ‘23 was honored at the 49th Annual Catholic High School Christian Service Awards Mass & Ceremony. Nazareno served over 273 hours over the course of her four years at Providence. Her service includes being a huge part of the Campus Ministry Core Team, coordinating and training Eucharistic Ministers for our Masses, working with Key Club, Helping Hands, and co-founding The Giving Project. Kristina Seward ‘23 was recognized by Operation Gratitude for her volunteer work with the organization over the course of three years. Sydney Gunn ‘25 traveled to Tijuana, Mexico to volunteer at the Esperanza House.
Matthew Dorfman is a graduating senior. Over the last four years, he has utilized Christian Service as an opportunity to put his gifts and talents into action and make a positive impact in our community. “When I was a freshman at Providence, I started looking for opportunities for service hours. I came across Special Olympics and asked Ms. Fontaine if I could coach a softball team. What started as getting ten service hours turned into a whole season with the Special Olympics. I was so inspired by the athletes, I even ended up making a club at school where I raised awareness for the organization and people with special intellectual abilities. My Christian Service hours with Special Olympics has spilled over to other parts of my school life. This year the Providence Baseball Team got a unique opportunity for each player to raise awareness for a cause of our choice. Coach Contreras inspired us to pick an organization and then he got each a pair of baseball cleats to specially customize, with art from our organization. We will be wearing these cleats in baseball games this season. Through my service, I developed a positive relationship with the athletes and the coaches, creating a partnership that lasted from 9th grade to the present. My takeaway from Special Olympics is that it is important to identify your passions and gifts and use them in ways where you can give back to others. I recommend finding an organization that speaks to you because service hours should be meaningful and important for yourself and the people who you are serving. If it were not for Christian Service hours, I would have never worked with Special Olympics.”

“Providence High provided a fantastic high school experience for me, one that certainly could not have been provided anywhere else. Providence is so attentive to the needs of each individual and works hard to ensure their success, both in and out of the classroom. Not only have I been taught by the most enthusiastic, genuinely curious teachers, but the Providence student body is an incredibly special group of human beings. In the classroom, we are taught to constantly question the world around us, and the student body reinforces this by encouraging the search for knowledge in free time. I have met so many passionate people that inspire me to push myself beyond my own expectations in both my schoolwork and in my art. I would not be who I am today without Providence, and I owe much of who I am becoming to my past four years here.”

“I entered Providence not knowing anyone, and am now graduating as senior class president. With the strong support of PHS teachers, I quickly felt like I belonged at PHS. The feeling of graduation is bittersweet; I feel comfortable as a Providence student, but that comfort is what has fostered my emotional and leadership growth, instilling in me values of friendship and curiosity that I know I will rely upon greatly in my college years and beyond!”
It came down to a performance.
When Paris Campen ‘22 was choosing her high school she kept her passion – live performances and singingat the forefront. Providence High School’s production of The Adam’s Family in 2017 confirmed for her that she belonged here.
Paris is not your average Pioneer. Due to several brain surgeries, she has some face paralysis that also affects her vocal cords. Her senior quotation says it all “my doctors said I would never walk or talk, and they were right, because I sing and dance.” This is an incredibly determined human who, in the image of Emilie Gamelin, is taking the adversity in her life, and deciding to be of service to others.
Paris’ favorite memory of her time at Providence was her 1Take experience her freshman year. The collaboration between the Performing Arts Department and the Cinema Arts Focus Program confirmed for her that there was value in real human stories being shared and broadcast. That, by sharing yourself and being vulnerable, you can inspire others.
Today Paris joins the ranks of our Legacy Donors as the youngest member. Though only 19, she has chosen to include Providence in her estate planning (she assures us that there is at least a good 65 years before we should expect a gift from her plan). She has asked us to use her – very future – gift for two things – to make sure that every Pioneer, in any of our choirs, gets to have the chance to travel to share their voice and love of singing and to recognize future Pioneers who exemplify school spirit with a gift to help them as they start their journey post Providence.
Paris is emblematic of why this school exists – we challenge every Pioneer to push themselves while doing our very best to “ease their way” to finding that happiness and success.
We are so grateful to Paris for being a true Ambassador for Providence and this mission.

runner and fell in love with it thanks to Paul Sutton. Other Providence teachers I loved were Jan McLaughlin and Dr. Harjani. I met my husband, Danny, at Providence. We began dating after Senior Kairos and have been together ever since. Providence helped me connect to my Catholic identity.
Tell me about revisiting Providence High School through the lens of your child, Natalya.
Christina Sanchez: It’s been pretty amazing to see Natalya’s experience at Providence. She is thriving in Tech Focus under the guidance of the wonderful Dr. Nicdao. I appreciate the parent access Providence provides and always knowing Natalya is taken care of.
As an alumna, what made you select Providence High School for your children?
Ida Brienza-Tagliente: It was my immediate first choice. I knew it was the right place for them to flourish and grow. Providence’s sense of community and commitment to wellness was the biggest draw as a parent. My children are thriving here.
Describe your time at Providence High School. What are some of your favorite memories?
Christina Sanchez: I originally went to Bell Jeff, then started Providence my Sophomore year. Providence helped me connect to my Catholic identity. I was involved in Campus Ministry and Cross Country. I’m still a

participated in city government on their youth board, and worked at St. Joe’s in outpatient physical therapy. Off campus, I was able to join the Notre Dame Drill Team. I met my husband Bruce at Notre Dame. Providence gave me my self-worth and returning as an employee felt like coming home.

Describe your time at Providence High School. What are some of your favorite memories?
Judy Egan Umeck: At that time, Providence was the epitome of an all-girls school. There was lots of camaraderie and interclass bonding. I was involved in Student Council, Religious Core Team, Search & Reach Out (now known as Kairos), Softball,
What are Providence High School’s greatest strengths?
Judy Egan Umeck: Providence’s unwavering legacy and our ability to continue to fulfill our mission in these evolving times.
Dennis Bullock: When I started at Providence, it immediately felt like a community, a very accepting environment. As a student, I was the scorekeeper for Boys Baseball and Basketball, performed in the productions The Vision and The Wizard of Oz, and was the Senior class speaker. I met one of my closest friends and former PHS teacher, Hani Zubi ‘88, while at Providence.
What was your journey posthigh school and what brought you back to Providence?
Dennis Bullock: After Providence, I did not go straight to college; I worked at AT&T for 5 years. Later,
I attended LAVC and then transferred to USC double majoring in Poly Sci and Communications. Around 2004/2005, I spoke to Vic LeBreton, the former Dean of Students, and he encouraged me to apply for a teaching position at Providence. The late PHS teacher, Ron Scholten hired me for Social Studies. In 2011/2012, I became the Dean of Students, a role that I held for four years. I enjoyed it and liked the problem solving. Politics was always an aspiration of mine, so when I ran for the 43rd District California State Assembly in the 2016 election, I was grateful to be able to stay on teaching part-time. Providence has been my career, my livelihood, and allowed me to pursue my passions.
Providence has been my career, my livelihood, and allowed me to pursue my passions
What elements of the Providence culture have remained consistent?
Marisa Paolone: Many elements of our culture remain. Providence is like Cheers; a place where everybody knows your name and knows you personally. We’ve retained an environment that celebrates faculty and encourages student strengths. We’ve also remained consistent in teacher individuality with instruction, appreciation for our alumni, and our strong academics. At Providence, we do what we can to help students succeed.
What was the greatest gift Providence gave you?
Marisa Paolone: As an employee, we have a community of fantastic people to rely on. Providence is my home away from home and my job never feels like work. As a student, I credit Providence for making my high school experience nothing short of perfect.
Former Providence teachers, Jan McLaughlin and Eleonora Greenhill changed my life; I fell in love with writing and Math, and wanted to instill that in others.

What do you hope to see for the future of Providence?
Why do you think so many alumni return to Providence as faculty and staff? What was your why?
Robert Parmele: Providence is a special community—one that provides comfort and opportunity. So many alumni have returned over the years because this place provides opportunities to learn, innovate, and to have a voice. My return to Providence was rooted in the mission of the Sisters of Providence and aligned with the vision of Mother Joseph. Mother Joseph is my North Star—she was a builder, an architect, and always served the best interest of the mission.
Robert Parmele: More sustainable buildings and building environments that are conducive to student learning and success. For example, automated room and building systems where the technology supports teaching and learning. I also hope Providence will be recognized as a school community that embraces and celebrates the diversity of all people, including neurodiversity, among students and personnel. Lastly, I hope we continue to define and strengthen our “secret sauce”—our people, mission, and legacy of the Sisters of Providence —as we are no longer the best kept secret in Burbank.
We are no longer the best kept secret in Burbank.
A simple act of care will provide you the peace of mind that your family and other loved ones are taken care of. With an estate plan in place, regardless of your age or circumstances, you can validate your wishes and protect your family. A will provides relief and gives direction to your surviving family members. Although this all makes sense and it is definitely something we all should have in place, why do almost 67% of American adults not have an up-to-date will?
Making a will doesn’t have to be complicated or scary, but many people avoid the task because they assume it will be. At Providence, we’re always looking to strengthen our community and provide resources to make your life safer and easier. We’re excited to share our partnership with FreeWill which ensures that every member of our community has the power to easily define a vision for the future through a legal will, at no cost.
This will-writing tool from FreeWill makes the process easy, intuitive, and fast: in less than 20 minutes, you can make a will and make a plan for the future. Since 2017, FreeWill has helped over 750,000 people write their wills and begin their legacy. Their platform has been featured in Forbes, the New York Times, and Oprah’s 31 Best Ways to Make a Difference, and makes this important legal service accessible to all.
We encourage you to extend your support for our mission beyond today and consider creating a lasting legacy at Providence. Your membership in the Circle of Caring will ensure Providence remains a strong and caring community that is rooted in the shared values given to us by the Sisters of Providence - for generations to come.

After earning my BFA, I spent two amazing years traveling the U.S. for CBS shows capturing real stories and uncovering hidden truths for CBS’s “48 Hours,” “38 NCIS,” and one of their newest flagship series, “Whistleblower.” After filming over 35 hours of episodes and covering stories in 46 states I returned home to Los Angeles. It was an incredible adventure, but it was also a turning point in my career. Through my work behind the camera, I discovered my true passion: lighting. And in 2020, I took the leap and founded Sparklite Rentals, where we supply lighting and grip equipment to narrative films, music videos, commercials, and digital productions in the Los Angeles film community. We bring our clients’ vision to life through lighting design and technology that move the boundaries of storytelling to new limits. It’s been a wild ride, but I couldn’t be happier to be doing what I love, every single day.
Since graduating in 2013, the creative opportunities at Providence have taken me on an exciting journey from virtual reality video game programming to high-end commercial film making. The Media Focus Program, directed by Joe Ingraffia at the time, gave me a unique opportunity to explore my love of storytelling, imagery, and entrepreneurship. Through the extensive 4-year program I engrossed myself in the world of media and history from Kinetoscope to Avatar in 3D. Providence allowed me to create my own short films that went on to win multiple awards and help further my education on a subject I was extremely passionate about. This exposure helped me land a job teaching a media production workshop for the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust right upon graduating. The art departments at Providence overlapped in ways that enriched my growth as a student. The amazing theater program is where I learned complex technical skills like stage lighting on a grid with over 50 lights and the chance to program over 200 scenes. It was these experiences that drew me to the Film and Television program at Cal State Northridge, with a concentration in Virtual Reality. I followed my curiosity for multimedia production and honed my skills in building and coding VR games, while also gaining hands-on experience in producing documentary films, music videos, and commercials.
During my time at Providence High School, I was deeply impacted by the school’s core value of being a Pioneer. This value embodies the belief that anyone can achieve their goals and dreams if they have the courage and determination to create new roads of opportunity instead of taking the road most traveled. Additionally, the school placed great emphasis on the value of justice, which served as a guiding compass for me as a leader. The media and art programs at Providence High School provided me with invaluable experiences that helped shape my creativity and gain understanding for the visual medium. Without these programs, I would not be the same artist and entrepreneur I am today. It was the Pioneer spirit and values that opened doors to working for organizations and artists such as Puma, Amazon, FOX NFL, Blackbear, Big Sean, Avril Lavine, and Rise Against. The handson skills and lessons I learned while creating my own projects in high school have directly contributed to the success of my company and work to this day. Thanks to the foundation provided by Providence High School, I continue to push the boundaries of my creativity and share the most I have to offer with the world.
After graduating from Providence in 2005, Andrew Demirchyan attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated in the top 3% of his class. He then pursued his law degree at UC Law San Francisco (formerly known as University of California, Hastings College of the Law) after working in the real estate industry for a few years. He is currently a practicing attorney at Allen Matkins, where he represents developers, owners, and financial institutions in complex commercial real estate transactions, including secured lending, commercial leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions. Prior to joining Allen Matkins, Andrew served as the Deputy White House Liaison for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a White House-appointed position where he acted as Senior Advisor to Secretary Julián Castro for presidential personnel and appointments. In this role, Andrew supported the president and secretary’s leadership of HUD, and guided HUD’s leadership through the political and legal aspects of transitioning to a new administration.
His considerable government background also includes serving as a National Security Associate and a Vetting Legal Intern at the White House. His responsibilities included assisting in vetting President Obama’s Executive Branch nominees/appointees with a focus on national security agencies. Andrew prepared recommendations to the president on presidential appointments and personnel actions, as well as federal clemency petitions. He also assisted with drafting Obama Administration transition documents.
Andrew is an active volunteer in the community and frequently represents land trusts in their acquisition of land for conservation purposes on a pro bono basis, helping these organizations preserve land for public and educational uses. His passion for community service goes back to PHS, where he was heavily involved in different service projects around the Burbank area with organizations like the Key Club, of which he was president while at PHS. Andrew serves on his firm’s Diversity Committee and has helped lead the charge on various firmwide DEI initiatives. He is admitted to practice law in California, New York, and Washington, D.C.
Andrew deeply values the time he had at PHS, as it helped him understand how to use his inquisitive mind to ask tough questions and seek solutions. He encourages all PHS students to fully leverage the excellent resources of the school in helping them craft their future education and career paths. One of his fondest memories from his time at PHS was serving as the editor-in-chief of his senior year yearbook in 2005, where he collaborated with past PHS alumni from different years to highlight the school’s 50th anniversary.

Linda Lee Wyatt, age 72, of Los Angeles, passed into eternal life on November 26, 2022. Born and raised in Albany, New York, Linda knew from an early age that teaching was her calling and set up a play school to teach the younger kids on the block. She headed West in 1968 to attend UCLA and graduated Phi Beta Kappa (1972). She earned her California teaching credential the next year.
Linda found her second “family” at Providence High School in Burbank, California, where she began teaching French in 1974, and eventually became World Languages Department Chair. She taught at Providence for 44 years and retired in 2017. Linda was a devoted teacher and an inspiration to her students. Colleagues and students remember her as full of a joie de vivre, always smiling and laughing, and passionate about teaching French. In 1994, she received a Los Angeles Times Teacher of the Year Award. Over the years, she delighted in leading summer trips to Europe, where students could experience the living language. Her favorite destination on these trips was Paris.
The Sisters of Providence were a lifelong influence on Linda. She was inspired by their faith and commitment to service to others. She valued their friendships and was honored to become a Sisters of Providence Associate in 2012.
Linda was a joyful soul, generous and full of optimism. She loved travel, the arts, Disneyland, the Hollywood Bowl, Yosemite National Park, and her two sweet kitties, Tigger and Roo.
Linda is predeceased by her parents, B. Woodrow Wyatt and Julie Wyatt, and her sister-in-law, Catherine Wyatt, of Albany, New York. She is survived by her sisters Wendy Wyatt (John Murphy) and Julie Ann Lofgren (James), her brother Woodrow Wyatt, nephews (Matthew, Kyle, Jonathan, Nathaniel), and nieces (Stephanie, Emily).

Amen.
