on pro bono legal projects. His passion for community service goes back to PHS, where he was heavily involved in different service projects around the Burbank area with organizations like the Key Club, of which he was president while at PHS.
Andrew Demirchyan ‘05 is currently interning at The White House in the Office of Presidential Personnel. He is in his last semester of law school at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Andrew sincerely enjoys his work for the executive branch of the United States government, particularly because he is able to witness the behind-the-scenes work which creates positive real world impact on many Americans. Given his background as the child of immigrants, he is humbled by this opportunity and honored to serve
his country. Prior to this, he worked in the federal district court of San Francisco, for the San Francisco Public Defender, and in the University of California’s Office of the President. Andrew is a 2009 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated in the top 3% of his class, with dual Bachelors and Masters degrees in Political Science, and a minor in Global Studies. After his internship at the White House, Andrew plans to go back to San Francisco, where he has lived since 2013, even though he misses spending time with his family and friends in the Burbank area. He values the time he had at PHS as it helped him understand how to use his inquisitive mind to ask tough questions and seek solutions. He encourages all PHS students to fully leverage the excellent resources of the school in helping them craft their future education and work plans. During his free time, Andrew enjoys hiking outdoors, running, and practicing yoga. One of his fondest memories from his time at PHS was serving as the editor-in-chief of his senior year yearbook in 2005, where he collaborated with past PHS alumni from different years to highlight the school’s 50th anniversary.
