Here’s to making it halfway through the fall semester! It’s starting to feel a little like an endless hump day, a middle-of-the-week mood with no end in sight, especially as November meanders on. If you’re feeling this way, not to worry; you’re not alone! While I’m still in disbelief that we’ve made it all the way to our publishing of Issue 4, you can think of it as a pick-me-up for the mid-semester slump that we’ve fallen victim to. As always, Pro Tem has something for everyone, whether you’re an effervescent and carefree traveler on exchange, a stressed and overwhelmed upper year, a fresh-faced first year student, or anything in between. From tips on adapting to life studying abroad and an ode to the stunning multiculturalism of our beloved city, to an article on the historical and present connotations of Remembrance Day, our fourth issue is the perfect one to start or end off a long day with! J’ai décidé de commencer à inclure une recommandation d’une chanson ou d’un.e artiste.e dans ces lettres, pour voir qui les lit réellement et pour préparer le Spotify Wrapped de cette année. Pour le mois de novembre, j’ai choisi de mettre en lumière Joshua Burnside, l’un de mes artistes préférés. C’est un témoignage de mon amour pour sa musique que j’ai été un auditeur fidèle depuis mes années de lycée, qui bien que révolues depuis longtemps, je me souviens comme tumultueuses et quelque peu capricieuses. Et quand je suis parti à l’université, les mélodies de Burnside m’y ont accompagné. Rien qu’en 2020, j’ai enregistré plus de 500 flux de « Blood Drive », sa chanson préférée, et
chaque automne, je déterre la liste de lecture de musique folk pour toutes les vibrations mélancoliques. Sa nouvelle version, « Rough Edges », correspond de la meilleure des manières à l’ambiance sombre du onzième mois ; écoutez-la ! Une bonne playlist est ma façon de me détendre dans une saison difficile ; quelles sont vos méthodes préférées ?
