With a steadily growing population of over 30,000, residents of Windsor can select from a variety of recreational activities in many locations throughout nearly 400 acres of land in the community. In addition to picturesque Windsor Lake, residents have access to more than 40 miles of trails, 26 parks, open space and recreational facilities. These include an outdoor swimming pool; 6 outdoor pickleball courts; a skate park; two dog parks, a variety of playgrounds as well as sports facilities. The Windsor Community Recreation Center offers 85,000 square feet of amenities that include an indoor aquatics center featuring lap lanes, a lazy river, slide, hot tub and children’s play area. Other amenities included multiple meeting or gathering rooms, two gymnasiums, a walk/jog track; an aerobics/dance/yoga studio; fitness studio; a child watch area and numerous classes. The department is divided into three divisions. The Parks Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 26 parks, our urban forest, and the Lakeview Cemetery. The Open Space & Trails Division promotes quality of life in Windsor by maintaining a diversified trail system and open spaces while emphasizing best management practices that support safety and environmental stewardship. managed our extensive trail system as well as and open spaces throughout Town. Combined, these two division are responsible for 395 acres of developed and undeveloped lands comprised of 26 parks, three open space and natural areas, two athletic complexes, and portions of the Poudre River and Windsor Lake Trails.

The Recreation Division provides a wide variety of activities, community programs, cultural opportunities and special events designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for all ages and abilities. These include youth and adult athletics, instructional programs, drop-in activities, arts, fitness classes, aquatics group excursions and historic preservation activities of the Town. The division oversees the following facilities Community Recreation Center, Windsor Lake, Chimney Park Pool, Arts & Heritage Center, and the Boardwalk Park Museum. During the summer, Boardwalk Park is the place to be for the best in culture and entertainment. The park is home to the free Summer Concert Series, which features local and regional bands playing everything from jazz and ’40s big band sounds to country and classic rock. Enjoy this entertainment every Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. throughout the summer months. On Saturday’s be sure to swing by and check out our very own Farmers Market! The Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Department mission is to impact lives and build community pride. This is accomplished by providing the highest quality recreational experiences while simultaneously preserving the resources, wildlife and history in the area. Our active and dynamic park and recreation program, an abundance of modern facilities and the variety of activities available keep Windsor residents active year-round.
