Each year for the past 28 years, in conjunction with The American Chemical Society and its Long Island subdivision, Portledge School presents one or more plaques to recognize Advanced Chemistry students, who have demonstrated a strong interest in continuing their chemistry education in the future, and who have excelled in their first year of chemistry study. The American Chemical Society hopes these awards will help encourage students to pursue further study in chemistry. The Portledge Science Department presents this year’s ACS award to a student who shows great potential as a future scientist; she has developed a strong understanding of chemistry and excellent problem-solving skills. She always seeks to truly understand the material and perform to the best of her abilities. This year, the American Chemical Society award for excellence in Advanced Chemistry is presented to Ellis Rosenberg.
