Head of School Award

With a much larger graduating class this year, we have divided the Head of School awards into four categories, each reflecting one of the Portledge Pillars - Kindness, Purpose, Honor, and Respect.

Purpose

This Head of School Award recognizes seniors who have acted with real purpose this year in a particular field. While many individuals have made great contributions towards improving the education at the school, two individuals stand out as having contributed in exceptional ways.

Luca Williams

The first recipient has inspired countless underclassmen to develop their skills in the area of music composition. This individual has furthered the music program by working closely with other seniors and underclassmen to compose and produce and perform in the school’s first-ever rock opera. It was spectacular; innovative, edgy, balanced, and exciting. In addition, he was always willing to step in to help others when they were short-handed and worked on providing excellent performances until the end of the school year. Music is his passion, and if you need further evidence of this, then I suggest you visit his awesome vinyl store in Sea Cliff, which he owns and operates. Congratulations to Luca Williams

Daniel Shalam

The second recipient of this award has become the voice of Portledge. He has selflessly commentated on multiple games and given freely of his time, so those who wished to listen to games but could not attend them could still find great enjoyment. Along with a colleague, he recently helped lead the auction and helped the school raise over $300k that night. He is articulate, polished, and has been given the gift of extemporaneous speech. I look forward to hearing future broadcasts on major media outlets as the years unfold. He has been the consummate voice of Portledge. Congratulations to Head of School award recipient, Dan Shalam.
