Because of his unending attempts to close the campus gaps-his close relation with the students-his "approachability" .
We dedicate this book to Mr. Babcock.
WILLIS STORK HEADMASTER
Fifteen years ago, Mr. Stork became the fifth head of Polytechnic since its founding in 1907. When he came, it was contained on one campus with only four hundred students, prekindergarten through the ninth grade. For the next five years, Poly's reputation grew, and the school began to expand. Ten years ago, Mr. Stork and the Board of Trustees made a momentous decision: Polytehnic School would add a high school. The necessary property was donated by the Adams and Erdman families, and in the academic year 1959-60 Poly established a ninth and tenth grade on the new south campus. Adding another grade each year, Polytechnic graduated its first senior class (twenty students) in 1962.
For the decade which this book reflects, then, Mr. Stork has directed the birth and growth of our high school. He has guided our emergence as one of the nation's most highly rated independent schools. In short, Mr. Stork has had no small part in making Polytechnic School what it is today.
ALEXANDER BABCOCK
DIRECTOR
As parents and students leave the Honors and Graduation ceremonies at the end of the school year, they think of the awards and achievements that the students have worked hard for. Rarely are the achievements of Mr. Babcock mentioned. He maintains the respect of every student; he has the undying ability to listen to and help solve the problems that students bring to him. For this achievement, and many more, we are grateful.

NONESUCH
Lydee Scudder has made a tremendous effort to put out a literary magazine that would reflect the talents and aspirations of some of the Poly writers. Mter dragging out some of this talent, she has come up with a collection of interesting and sensitive writing. Perserverance rewarded!
Lydee Scudder- Editor
Gary Benedict, Co-Editor
Imagery is Poly's literary effort where the students can , with some exceptions, say what they want, in the way they want. Highly opinionated essays are often found in it essays often puncuated by some choice comments from the editors. The editors have done a good job in releasing Imagery on a regular basis, and creating a magazine uniquely Poly.

Peter Hornsby
Peter Hornsby entered the Poly environment from England. From the beginning, he made a tremendous effort to understand the interesting habits of the Polytechnic students. He joined Poly's dramatic production of Can-Can in a major way. In short, although he joined Poly only in the middle of December, he has already become an integral part of the school, and we all wish him the best for the remainder of his stay in the United States.

G
0 PLACIDLY AMID THE NOISE & HASTE, & REMEMBER WHAT PEACE THERE MAY BE IN SILENCE. AS FAR AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater & lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue ·there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. * Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical abou't love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of facigue & loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. * You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. * Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. * FOUND IN OLD SAINT PAUL'S CHURCH,BALTIMORE;DATED 169z
