Moth Deportment Choir. Volleyball coach. And yes, Poly's resident rocket scien ti st, Mr. Prater has worked at Poly fo r the lost twelve years. Mr. Prater originally joined the Poly community as a member of the coaching staff for the boys and girls volleyball teams before becoming a faculty member of the Moth Deportment in 2011. In applying for the moth position, choir at the time, Jonathon Fay, explained the encouragement to hire Prater come from the unprecedented support Fay received from players and parents in the form of various emoils and phone calls. Mr. Prater was the obvious choice for the jo b and has remained on integral member of the community ever since. His co lleagues note hi s "incredible sense of humor," "thoughtfulness," and "dedication to his student s and the community" as trademarks of the Jo ck Prater persona. Mr. Prater's passion and kindnes s stand out to not only his fellow teachers but al so students, regardless of whether they hove actually been taught b y him or not. Former Poly student Ella Cornwell '1 9 e laborates, "Even though I never hod him as a teacher, Mr. Prater was my volleyball coach for four years and such on impoctful mentor/coach for me and many of my peers. He taught me so much both on and off the court and he is one of the thing s that I miss most about Pol y." So, to Mr Prater, we thank you immensely for everything you hove done for Panthers po st and present!
Our beloved Ms. Laura Marion began her time at Poly back in 2005 as a member of the English department. Beyond current ly teaching English for both sophomores and juniors, Ms. Marion plays a major role in the Upper School as the Director of Outd oor Education, a program she has coordinated for over 12 years. Ms. Marion used her experience as a volunteer for the Peace Corps and her passion for the outdoors to create what Poly studen t s often refer to as the most memorable part of their student experience. From the start Marion's colleagues noticed her creativity and kindness, as well as her devotion to get ting her classes excited about the subject matter Sam Salvati '20 adds, "In the two year s I had Ms. Marion as my English teacher, she broadened my intellectual interests and reshaped my trajectory as a stu dent. Her feedback was always driven by love and care, and I'm so gratefu l for Ms. Marion for being a huge part of my growth at Poly." Ms. Marion tru ly changes people's lives both on and off campus. She teaches st uden ts how t o find and properly use their voices. She teaches students the power of speaking their minds and shoring their thoughts. Above all, she teaches her students to love learning. Whether it is playing board games during clubs or coaching boys soccer, Ms. Marion makes Poly the incredible p lace it is. Thank you for everythi ng.

The 2019-2020 school year started on Monday, August 2 6. Students were excited to get to school at 8:30 a.m. instead of the usual time, 8:00 a.m. Returning to school, the seniors enjoyed a delicious breakfast hosted by the class parents while freshmen were nervous yet eager for the school year ahead At the first assembly of the year, students heard Mr. Bracker1 S annual speech, were introduced to the new faculty and staff, and cheered on the Dance Team as they performed the annual 11 year cheer 11

The Straight Pride Parade in Boston: students speak out
The Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted Poly's first dance of the 2019-20 school year in late September. The theme this year was Area 51 where students were encouraged to dress up as their intergloctic-selves. Approximately 90 students attended the dance, and the ASB raised close to $500. The money raised by the dance will be used to fund rivalry events, clubs, and student welfare in general.

Donee Teom is o two-season sport that runs through the foil and winter. The team of ath letes hod to start training through the summer and continue all the way to the start of the school year. They were required to attend o three-day donee camp that started at the beginning of August. There, they learned new choreography, trained all day, and learned o variety of new donees. Once school started, they hod doily practices where they perfected their repertoire for this yeor 1 S games. Their coaches, Tina Cocumelli and Marianne Davis, worked hard to incorporate choreography that varied in style and in difficulty The Donee Teom brought energy and sp ir it to Poly athletic events, and by the end of th e ir season, the bonds they hod formed were unbreakable.

The Varsity and jun ior Varsity Cross Country teams hod yet another great season. Although ther e were many ups and downs, the team hod great race times, forged friendsh ip s, and ended with phenomenal lung capacities! The team hod a solid seaso n, partially credi ted to the dreaded PACE workouts that boosted runners 1 times and promoted better running form. Both Varsity Girls and Boys mode it to the CIF playoffs in good standings. Captains Luisa Breen, Nicky Yoong, Sop hie Phinney, Sen ior s Evon Hayes, Gilly Denham, and Sa m Salvati led underclassman-heavy teams to victory and served as examp les for the new runners. The Girls Varsity Soccer team hod o solid season, but due to their high number of ties, the team did not make it into the CIF Playoffs. Led by Seniors Sophia Ramirez. The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror, and each with a smile at the other's welcome, and say, sit here. Eat You will love again the stranger who was your self Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart, Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life.

This yea r's staff was really a family. We fought. A lot. Our babies, fre shm en Ayush, Liz, Cris tina, and Emily were always in the bathroom, eating, or laughing/crying, but we hove immense ly enjoyed watching them become th e diligent workers the y grew to be.
Our tweens, Jackie and Nino, were understandably confused most of the year as things were changing (our publishing company, fonts, colors, among other things.), yet they managed to complete their work both ski llfu lly and promptly. Nino and Jackie never complained, and they were always suppo rt ing the younger students.
Our teenage r, Bianco, was sassy and swee t and worked as inten se ly as ever while simultaneously doing thousand s of other things (writing essays, Snopcho tting friends, and finishing her pages with on exceptional eye for detail) in typical teenage-fa shion. We ore confident that we ore leaving Ookleoves in capable (and perfectly manicured) hand s.
Ms. Minto, the mother of our group, tirelessly worked to comp ile pages, toke photographs, feed us Nothing-Bundt cokes, and make sure we were thriving as a team. She has watched both of us grow up, taught us everything we know. and picked us up in our times of need We tru ly cou ld not hove surv ived without her constant support.
Although thi s "family" fought, all families do, and we were always there to tog each other's pages, fi x crooked spacing, and write tedious paragraphs for each other. Two members of this family may be moving onto bigger and better things, but we will never forget the memories we mode or the HOUR S we spen t creating this book toge t her Thank you all. For everything.
