Dear Mom,
Now it stands to reason that a colorful, exciting, vibrant, book such as this one needs representation by a colorful, exciting, vibrant personality Well, Mom, (with your "unparalleled beauty, charm, and virtue," and your true concern for us, your charges), yours seems the perfect personality. We feel that if you care enough t,o worry about us, humor us, and generally have fun with us, we care enough to show our appreciation . This ageless and memorable yearbook is therefore dedicated to you.
With all our love, The Kids (class of '69)
Four fourteen years Mr. Stork has dedicated his life to making Poly one of the finest preparatory schools in the country. Now with the new boys' gym built and an Upper School auditorium projected, Mr. Stork marks off yet another achievement, another step towards his goal .
Above and beyond the development program, Mr. Stork has guided so many of us, his students, on to further education. We may not always feel his presence day to day, but when it comes time to plan for college, Mr. Stork becomes a vital source of knowledge and experience we all need to help us choose the colleges best suited to our personalities and interests. Maybe not until then can we fully appreciate Mr. Stork's hard work and untiring effort in our behalf.
When the members of this senior class were but freshmen, Mr. Babcock came to Poly. Immediately he became a well-liked and respected member of the administration. As he has traveled with us through our four years in Poly's Upper School, he has continued to be our friend and our communications committee. Mr. Babcock is a real person, one whom we can always talk to, and we thank him for his tireless patience, his fine display of school spirit, and, most of all, for his ability to see our side of school life. For a school administrator, these are rare and wonderful qualities to possess, and these are the reasons we consider Mr. Babcock one of us. ·

When to the sessions of sweet silent thought I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend, All losses are restored and sorrows end.

The student council, once famous for its ineffectiveness, has truly proven itself this year One major achievement was the approval of the petition for senior girls to wear pullover sweaters. Now this privilege is permanently established. Other interesting topics at the meetings have been faculty diets and junior fund-raising projects. This student council will probably prove to be the most productive yet.

Many hours were spent gathering Ads for this years book.
Downbeat this year has been a vital, active newspaper. We have tried to arouse student interest in the school and the community and, we think, we have to some extent succeeded. We hope the students will continue to support the paper as enthusiastically in the future.
Nonesuch is an attempt to encourage creative wntmg among the students. Published once in the winter and again in the spring, Nonesuch provides a chance for would-be writers to see their work in print. Because of limited participation during the past year, the magazine did not enjoy great success, yet both issues were filled with worthwhile material.
Because of the enormous number of contributions this year, Imagery has not had the problem of having a deficiency of articles for any issue. On the contrary, so overwhelmingly did the Underclassmen fill Imagery's literary void that we often felt compelled to sacrifice quality for quantity. Nonetheless, despite the rather amateur tone of Imagery, it did succeed in presenting a great diversity of viewpoints, boorishly phrased as some of them were. On the whole, staff-faculty relations were much less strained this year. Great thanks are due to our faculty advisor, Mr. Moses, who advised the faculty very well. Future editors should keep in mind that Imagery is only worthwhile when it is intelligently radical.

When you're up from downunder it's kind of fun having Days to wear Togas and to buy Slaves. And it's beaut to root at the games, which are so different from the sports at home. Organized cheering would have quite an impact on the Aussies' far-from-regimented enthusiasm!
It's good to be educated in the American way : to learn about your country, and to discover what Americans learn. That's the way to understand the country- and that, after all, is half the game!
More important, though, is to know the people, and Poly people are very easy to get to know, as, indeed, are all Americans.
I'm happy here at Poly- it's a Great Society!
Above all else, thanks for your friendship- it's made my year especially magical!
The American Field Service and Experiment in International Living programs are simply meeting a new culture on its own terms. You adapt yourself and your way of doing things to another people and their customs. You can apply the knowledge you have acquired in school to further your understanding of their feelings and ideas. You learn by living.
