MEI GNOSIS PROGETTI MUSEUM

The exhibition concept of the Museum of Emigration in the Commenda of San Giovanni di Prè transforms the visit into an immersive, multimedia and interactive experience, in which emigration is experienced through stories, from ancient times to the present day, and the use of the most advanced museographic methods: multimedia, interactivity and an "experiential" set design. The distribution project respects the building's historical nature, but includes important plant engineering works aimed at making the museum accessible. In order to preserve the exposed walls of the loggias, degraded by the aggression of smog, and make them more usable, large windows and an evening lighting system have been installed to transform them into veritable lanterns overlooking the city. The new project, in full respect of the pre-existing structure, will weave an active and projectual eulogy of the artefact: the entire conservation project will be inserted in the manner of a new script, without violence or erasure to increase the testimonial and emotional value of the Commenda, guaranteeing the transmission of the entire palimpsest to future use and enjoyment. In the urban space in front of the Commenda a totemic element signals the presence of the Museum to the city: a tree, whose roots are given a strong symbolic value connected to the theme of emigration.

GNOSIS PROGETTI WAS FOUNDED IN 1994 BY THREE ARCHITECTS: FRANCESCO FELICE BUONFANTINO, ANTONIO DE MARTINO AND ROSSELLA TRAVERSARI. ALMOST 30 YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THEN, AND THE TEAM OF DESIGNERS, ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS NOW INCLUDES OVER 40 COLLABORATORS. TODAY, GNOSIS IS AN INTEGRATED DESIGN LABORATORY THAT WORKS ON VARIOUS FRONTS: URBAN INTERVENTIONS, HISTORICAL, ARTISTIC AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL INSTALLATIONS, SPACE PLANNING, AND REDEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AREAS. GNOSIS HAS ACQUIRED DESIGN SKILLS IN SPECIFIC SECTORS SUCH AS ARCHAEOLOGY, MONUMENTS, MUSEUMS, AIRPORTS, HOTELS AND TOURIST ACCOMMODATION. GNOSIS PROGETTI NASCE NEL 1994 DALLA CREATIVITÀ DI TRE ARCHITETTI: FRANCESCO FELICE BUONFANTINO, ANTONIO DE MARTINO E ROSSELLA TRAVERSARI. DA ALLORA SONO TRASCORSI QUASI 30 ANNI E IL TEAM DI PROGETTISTI, ARCHITETTI E INGEGNERI CONTA OLTRE 40 COLLABORATORI. OGGI GNOSIS È UN LABORATORIO DI PROGETTAZIONE INTEGRATA CHE OPERA SU DIVERSI FRONTI: INTERVENTI URBANI, ALLESTIMENTI STORICO-ARTISTICI E ARCHEOLOGICI, PROGETTAZIONE DI SPAZI, RIQUALIFICAZIONE DI AREE INDUSTRIALI. GNOSIS HA ACQUISITO COMPETENZE NELLA PROGETTAZIONE IN SETTORI SPECIFICI COME QUELLO ARCHEOLOGICO, MONUMENTALE, MUSEALE, AEROPORTUALE, ALBERGHIERO E TURISTICO RICETTIVO.

Il concept espositivo del Museo dell’Emigrazione nella Commenda di San Giovanni di Prè trasforma il percorso di visita in un’esperienza immersiva, multimediale e interattiva, nella quale sperimentare l’emigrazione attraverso le storie, dall’antichità a oggi, e l’uso delle più avanzate metodologie museografiche: multimedialità, interattività e una scenografia “esperienziale”. Il progetto distributivo rispetta la storicità dell’edificio, ma contempla importanti opere impiantistiche finalizzate alla fruibilità del Museo.

Al fine di preservare le murature a vista dei loggiati, degradate dall’aggressione dello smog, e renderli più fruibili, si realizzano grandi vetrate e un sistema di illuminazione serale che li trasforma in vere e proprie lanterne verso la città. Il nuovo progetto, nel pieno rispetto della preesistenza, tesse un elogio attivo e progettuale del manufatto: tutto il progetto di conservazione si inserisce al modo di una nuova scrittura, senza violenza né cancellazioni per accrescere il valore testimoniale ed emotivo della Commenda, garantendo la trasmissione dell’intero palinsesto all’uso e alla fruizione futura. Nello spazio urbano antistante la Commenda un elemento totemico segnala la presenza del Museo alla città: un albero, alle cui radici è cui è conferito il forte valore simbolico connesso al tema dell’emigrazione.
