On January 22, 2023, PICPA Rizal Chapter held its annual Accounting Quiz Bowl live via Zoom. It was participated by difference schools and universities within the Rizal province. The winners of each category level will represent the Rizal Chapter in the Accounting Quiz Bowl to be conducted by the PICPA Southern Tagalog Region on May 2023.

TAX CLINIC: INCOME TAX DEDUCTION "A DETAILED DISCUSSION"

On February 22, 2023, PICPA Rizal Chapter in collaboration with PICPA Laguna Chapter, PICPA Lipa Chapter, and PICPA Occidental Mindoro Chapter conducted a Tax Clinic Seminar to fellow colleagues in the profession. The said seminar was done through Zoom platform. This is in line with the community projects in relation to profession of the chapters.

100 YEARS CELEBRATION OF ACCOUNTANCY PROFESSION IN THE PHILIPPINES

In celebration of Centenary of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants had organized activities for its week-long celebration of the said event. The celebration started with a Tree Planting, followed by Alay Lakad, Motorcade and Thanksgiving Mass. On the day of centenary event, March 17, a big concluding bash was held at Grand Ballroom of the Manila Hotel that mark the culmination of the 100th year anniversary celebration of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines.

PICPA Rizal Chapter also organized events to support the celebration of this landmark event by celebrating a Thanksgiving Mass at Antipolo Cathedral, parade from Antipolo Cathedral to Ynares Event Center and this was followed by having Tree Planting at Barangay Calawis Antipolo City on March 12. Also on March 13, the Chapter attended a webinar hosted by the Board of Accountancy entitled " The Future of BOA and Philippine Accountancy Profession.

On March 14 to 16, the Chapter led by Ms. Rosemarie Gatlabayan attended the three-day conference held at Ynares Center, Antipolo City. The said conference was Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants Inc 15th Southern Luzon Geographical Conference. It was attended by all government accountants in the Philippines.

On the day of centenary event, the Chapter also attended the Liga ng mga Punong Barangays of Antipolo with COMELEC Officer Atty. Joseph Vega at the session hall of Barangay De la Paz Antipolo City. After the said session, a Get Together Celebration by the officers and members of the Chapter at Romeo's Restaurant Antipolo City was held. The said get-together celebration was held to join simultaneously the online coverage of the centennial celebration being held at Manila Hotel.

PREPARING FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEW

(QAR):

UNCOVERING ISQM 1 AND 2: ASSURANCE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS

PICPA Rizal Chapter for the fiscal year 20222023 conducted its fourth seminar during this pandemic. The seminar entitled “Preparing for Quality Assurance Review (QAR): Uncovering ISQM 1 and 2: Assurance Quality Management System Components” was conducted with Resource Speaker, Mr. Mark Benedict M. Guia at Ynares Event Center Antipolo City. This was attended by 44 participants The seminar was competently handled by Mr. Robert S. Arellano, Chapter President-Elect, as the Moderator. The seminar was conducted to comprehensively discuss the needed implementation of Quality Assurance review program, familiarization of the international standard on quality management is crucial since it will be the framework of the program of the public practitioners in the Philippines. The resource speaker fist discussed the General Concept of a Quality Management System for Assurance Services. Followed by how the risk assessment will flow or its process which eventually tackled the six components of risk assessment process. And lastly, the resource speaker discussed the requirements of an engagement of quality review requirements.

QAR AUDIT METHODOLOGY WORKSHOP

PICPA Rizal Chapter and PICPA Cavite Chapter conducted a two-day Quality Assurance Review Workshop at Hotel Dominique, Tagaytay City.

This was conducted to help accountants in public practice to provide audit and assurance service to clients with the Quality Assurance Review at the engagement level.

The webinar entitled “Upgrading Skills and Competencies and Enhancing Value of Profession for Global Filipino Accounting Professionals: International Accounting Certification” was conducted with Resource Speaker, Mr. Melosino Melvin Roi D. Respicio III via Zoom platform. This was attended by 223 participants. The webinar was competently handled by Ms. Dineth S. Larsen, Chapter Director for Commerce and Industry, as the Moderator. The webinar was conducted to discuss the various international certifications that Filipino accountants can acquire. The resource speaker discussed the importance of having international certifications that will provide Filipino accountants being globally recognized and competitive.

DEMYSTIFYING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

PICPA Rizal Chapter for the fiscal year 2022-2023 conducted its fifteenth webinar during this pandemic. The webinar entitled “Demystifying Artificial Intelligence” was conducted with Resource Speaker, Mr. Rodrigo D. Casiano Jr. via Zoom platform. This was attended by 194 participants. The webinar was competently handled by Ms. Dineth S. Larsen, Chapter Director for Commerce and Industry, as the Moderator. The webinar was conducted to discuss the importance of Artificial Intelligence in today’s environment and its impact on the accounting profession. The resource speaker discussed first the definition and components of AI and making them understand by giving examples. This was followed by applications and common misconceptions of AI, then the capabilities of AI. Also, he discussed the AI learning models and examples. And lastly, the Importance of quality data for AI.
