Life at Perth College Boarding

FACILITIES

The Perth College Boarding House provides a comfortable and supportive environment for students from Years 7 to 12. Room assignments are structured to balance socialisation and personal space:

• Year 7 & 8 - Shared rooms to encourage social interaction.

• Year 9 to 12 - Private rooms for greater independence.

Each student has their own personal desk for study and they are encouraged to personalise their rooms, creating a home-like atmosphere.

The kitchen in our boarding house is wellequipped with all the essentials, including cooking utensils, stoves, fridges, and a pantry stocked with snacks and groceries, all available for students to use as they prepare meals. The common rooms provide a relaxed atmosphere with comfortable seating, gaming consoles, and plenty of space for students to hang out and socialise. For those who need quiet time to focus, our study rooms offer a peaceful environment, furnished with desks, chairs, and all the necessary study materials to help students concentrate and succeed in their work.

Perth College Boarding House provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students can live, learn, and grow. We understand that starting boarding school is a big step, which is why our on-boarding program helps new students settle in before they arrive. This Transition Program connects them with current boarders, staff, and key members of the Perth College community, giving them the chance to build friendships and get to know their new home. By the time they start, they’ll already feel familiar with our routines and expectations, making their transition smoother and more enjoyable.

We prioritise academic support to help students make the most of their study time. During Prep, boarders have access to tailored assistance, whether that means being matched with a tutor, receiving help with maths or science, or learning effective study and time management skills. Our goal is to ensure that Prep is a valuable opportunity for students to consolidate their learning, deepen their understanding, and prepare for upcoming assessments. By making full use of the resources available, we help each boarder achieve their best academic outcomes.

MEALS

Our boarding students enjoy three well-balanced meals each day— breakfast, lunch, and dinner—along with morning, afternoon tea and supper. All meals are prepared by our in-house catering team, ensuring high standards of nutrition and variety. The menu offers a selection of hot and cold dishes to suit different dietary needs, using fresh ingredients for wholesome, satisfying meals. While breakfast and dinner are served in the dining hall, students can pick up their lunch and enjoy it with friends. Dinner is available between 5:15 pm and 7:00 pm, allowing flexibility for different schedules.

BOARDING STAFF

The dedicated Boarding Team at Perth College provides exceptional care and support, led by the Head of Boarding, Assistant Head of Boarding, and Heads of Year. A senior staff member is on duty every shift to ensure students’ needs are met.

Boarders benefit from:

• Pastoral Care - Guidance and emotional support.

• Academic Support - On-site tutors for study assistance.

• Health Care - An on-site Health Centre with registered nurses and after-hours phone support.

• Daily Supervision - Senior staff available at all times.

This strong support network helps students feel safe, supported, and valued.
