What we offer
Perth College was founded by the so-called Renegade Sisters of the Church in 1902. The Sisters’ Vision, considered radical for the times, was to educate girls to equip them for a challenging and fulfilling future.
Today, even as our School and our programs evolve, we live the Vision of our Founders to ensure our students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they need to make an important contribution to the community. Perth College’s flagship initiatives including our Sports Development and Performance Program, InsideOut, sparc and the Arts are providing rich learning, self-leadership, health, wellbeing and collaborative experiences to equip our students with the skills they need to confidently face the world.
Our Sports Development and Performance Program engages students with community sport for long-term, post-school wellbeing, as well as supporting those with elite ambitions to achieve their goals. InsideOut encourages self-leadership, reflection and risk-taking to develop wellbeing and excellence. sparc is comprised of rich learning experiences, including selfdirected superflexes, to spark passion, grow attributes and build relationships to contribute to the world. sparc experiences include a focus on entrepreneurship, enquiry, science and technology that may include elements of InsideOut and are led by sparc mentor teachers collaborating across subject areas.
The Arts are a very important part of student life at Perth College encouraging our students to explore their creativity, confidence and collaboration through the genres of dance, music, speech and drama and visual arts.
Perth College also offers an extensive co-curricular program including Performing Arts, Debating, Creative Writing, Photography, Mock Trials and STEaM Club. Students can participate in a range of sports from swimming to basketball, rowing, water polo and AFL and is also home to one of the biggest netball programs in WA, Perth College Netball Association (PCNA). It prides itself on excellence in Music, Dance and Drama. Students can participate in musicals, youth theatre, solo performances, concert bands, chamber groups and orchestras.
From the beginning, Perth College has taken a different path in girls’ education, going from strength to strength over many generations. It now has more than 1,000 students including 100 boarders from regional WA and overseas. We encourage our students to Be Brave, Not Perfect; to be inspired to solve problems, think critically, creatively and collaborate. We want our students to leave school capable, courageous and caring, confident of their strengths, ready to embrace personal excellence, live generously and contribute to an ever-changing world.

Academic Achievement
ENROLMENTS
There were 1,010 full-time equivalent students at Perth College in 2022, including 12 overseas and 18 First Nations students.
MANAGEMENT OF NON-ATTENDENCE
The average rate of attendance for students at Perth College in 2022 was 92.66 per cent.
Regular attendance at school is essential for students to maximise their potential.
Perth College, in partnership with parents, promotes regular attendance of students. Parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children. However, school staff monitor absences as part of their duty of care.
Travel during term time is discouraged to minimise the impact on a student’s learning. Exemptions are granted in cases where students are representing their club, School or State, for example. The School’s protocol for absentees requires parents to contact Perth College prior to 9.15 am
if their child will not be attending that day using an absentee telephone line, a mobile telephone number for SMS or an email. For extended absences, parents must complete a form available on SPACE.
Literacy and Numeracy
Each year, students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 sit the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) test. In 2022, the proportion of Perth College students at or above the minimum national standard in the areas assessed appear in the table below.
NAPLAN data 2022 – Students at or above the minimum national standard: No results presented for NAPLAN in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
