Alberta is preceded in death by her husband and best friend Calvin Holder; parents: Alton and Alice Ford; sisters: Peggy Joyce Peacock, Helen Benette.

Her favorite hobbies were camping, fishing, spending time with friends but her greatest love was being with her family and cooking with them.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The graveside service will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:00 AM.

Ivey of Houston, TX; one sister Connie (Joe) Stevenson of Kilgore, TX; special friend Mary Helton of Palmdale, FL. ,five grandchildren Jeremy Osceola, Andrew Osceola, Emily Osceola, Kaitlyn Osceola and Warren Osceola, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Osceola, son Kevin “Fatman” Osceola and her parents.

Hoyt Edward Terrell, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home in Wauchula.

He was born on July 23, 1932 in Wauchula to the late Hoyt Victor and Ruth Ella Shackelford Terrell. He was a lifelong resident of Hardee County.

Mr. Terrell graduated from Hardee High School in June of 1950 and joined the United States of America Navy in 1951 where he served on the USS Mansfield DD-728 as a Helmsman. He served a total of eight years of which included two tours in Korea and four years in the Reserves. Mr. Terrell was honorably discharged on October 16, 1959 as a Second-Class Petty Officer.

After his discharge from the United States Navy, Mr. Terrell attended the University of Florida and graduated with his Bachelors’ degree in Pharmacy on August 13, 1960. In addition to his Bachelors’ degree in Pharmacy he held his Pharmacy Consulting License. Mr. Terrell practiced Pharmacy from 1960 to 1995. He worked as a Pharmacist for Beeson’s Drug Store in Wauchula, Christian’s Pharmacy in Auburndale and completed his Pharmacy career with Eckerd Drugs in Wauchula where he retired after 27 years of service. Thru part of the 35 years of Mr. Terrell’s Pharmacy practice he also worked as a Consultant Pharmacist for Hardee Memorial Hospital, Desoto Memorial Hospital, Hardee Manor Nursing Home and Massam’s Clinic in Wauchula.

He enjoyed building furniture, fishing, gardening and watching the Florida Gator Football games. He loved spending time with his family and sharing stories from his childhood.

Mr. Terrell was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Victor and Ruth Ella Shackelford Terrell; sister, Delores Arnold.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 62 years, Joan Autry Terrell; Two Sons, Hoyt Edward Terrell, Jr. and wife Teresa of Wauchula; Richard Earl Terrell and wife Laurie of Alabama and one Daughter, Linda Terrell Oldham and husband Tim of Wauchula. Five Grandchildren, John Terrell, Amanda Carrera and husband Jose, Callie Duffle and husband Doug, Cassie Pugh and husband Brad, and Joshua Oldham and wife Emily; Six Great Grandchildren, Annalise, Victor, Madalyn, Everly, Luke and Noah.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 1999 State Road 64 East, Wauchula Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm at the church with Rev. Chris Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

“THE STATUE”

Peace River Shopper

The story Bruce was telling made Henry wonder about what he had found at the store. He asked Bruce what happened to the owner’s daughter and buildings. “What daughter”, Bruce asked? “And what do you mean buildings?” Henry was surprised at his answer. “The daughter is missing, the owner is torn to shreds and the buildings are destroyed”, said Henry. “That can’t be. When we left, everything was as we found it except we took the skins and skulls”, said Bruce. Meanwhile back at town, they were having a meeting on what they could do about the incident at the old store and what to do about the owner’s daughter missing. The old trusted man Paul told them that there was only one thing to do and that was to kill those gargoyles. But how they wanted to know. “With our shotguns”, said Paul. “We have the power and the guns to end this now before they come after us”. After all, they didn’t have a clue that the store owner and his daughter was selling gargoyle skins and skulls to people in Boston.

How could they? So they all got together and made a plan to go out after the gargoyles first thing in the morning.

Henry and Bruce stayed up late talking and trying to figure things out. They had no idea of what the town was planning. After hours of conversation, Henry spent the night with Bruce in the cave, besides he didn’t know where he was, but he knew it was a long way back to camp. The next morning, Bruce took Henry back to his camp. Still they had no idea of what the town people had in mind.

While they were talking, Bruce mentioned another herd of gargoyles that lived on the other side of the big mountains.

They were a little different from Bruce’s herd. They didn’t like humans and really wanted them dead. They considered them enemies and watched every move that the humans made. Bruce thought that maybe they had heard something about the old store and told Henry he would be back later and that he was going over to talk to them about all this.

Bruce flew off that morning about 9 am. It was now a little past 11pm. Henry was beginning to think that Bruce wasn’t coming back when he heard a loud crash just outside the camp area. When he went to see what it was, he found Bruce half dead. He was all scratched up and bleeding badly. Henry helped him over to the camp and worked on his wounds. He couldn’t do much, but he did everything he could to help him. Bruce was so weak he couldn’t talk to Henry. All night Henry worked on his sores and scratches.

By the next morning, he wasn’t getting any better and Henry knew he had to get some help. But where would he go? It was a long way back to town and he surely couldn’t carry him but something had to be done or Bruce was going to die. Just then…
