Pese a que las témporas no pronostiquen el verano mas soleado del siglo, estamos decididos a pasar esta estación con mucho calor en cuanto a planes se refiere.

Pero esta estación nos dejará algo muy especial: la resaca que nos ha ocasionado el Athletic. La población ha estado totalmente volcada con el equipo convirtiendo Bizkaia en una auténtica fiesta rojiblanca.

Even though this year’s weather predictions don’t predict the sunniest summer in history, we are set on enjoying this season hot with plans!

While Getxo offers us a thousand and one options to enjoy, Barakaldo is an increasingly innovative municipality. Whether it’s nice out or not, Vitoria-Gasteiz increases its quality and quantity of events and the Encartaciones´ excitement. Deba County, so full of tourism and as attractive as always. We are full of culinary quality and our bars breathe an excellent ambiance. So we fulfil all the requisites to fully enjoy summer.

And this season has left us something very special: the hang-over from our Athletic team. The people have been completely focused in their team, making Bizkaia a real red and white party!

TAXI EN RUTA es un proyecto compartido por todas las asociaciones de Taxi de Bizkaia.

Colaboramos en su reparto y difusión y está orientada a los visitantes de Bilbao, Bizkaia y País Vasco en general, con el propósito de mostrar nuestra geografía y dar a conocer lo que en cada lugar se puede buscar, ver y degustar.

Bere banaketa eta zabalkuntzan laguntzen diogu elkarri eta Bilbo, Bizkaia zein Euskal Herrira datozen bisitariei dago zuzenduta. Gure geografia erakustea da asmoa eta leku bakoitzean zer bilatu, ikusi eta dastatu daitekeen ezagutzera ematea.

TAXI EN ROUTE is a shared project by all the Taxi associations in Bizkaia. We contribute to deliver and spreading it and its meant for the visitants to Bilbao, Bizkaia, and Basque Country in general with the intention to show our geography and to make known what we can find, see and taste in each place.

En cada uno de los teléfonos ofrecemos: • servicio 24 horas • servicios de encargo: para quien necesite un taxi y quiera despreocuparse, puede solicitarlo con antelación. A la hora fijada su taxi le estará esperando a la puerta.

• Taxi turístico: Los taxistas somos las primeras personas con las que un viajero se encuentra al llegar a cualquier ciudad. Entre las actividades del taxista, se encuentra la de hacer de guía tanto en la ciudad como en los pueblos de la provincia. Así mismo y pensando en nuestros clientes, hacemos una relación de 16 destinos con sus precios, con la intención de que sean una referencia válida en sí mismos, o una idea aproximada en distancias equivalentes. Los recorridos han sido confeccionados tomando como referencia de origen el Aeropuerto de Loiu.

Estos precios corresponden a la tarifa laboral diurna: Tarifa 3: Lunes a viernes de 7h a 22 h.

Para la Tarifa 4, que corresponde a la nocturna y festiva, el precio de estos recorridos quedaría incrementado en un 10%.

SENTIMIENTO ROJIBLANCO Hay ciertos periodistas que, en las tertulias acerca del equipo bilbaíno, siempre recuerdan que sin el factor San Mames, el Athletic estaría hace años en Segunda división. Podemos estar más o menos de acuerdo con esta afirmación, pero lo que sí debemos compartir es que es un aliciente fundamental y un aliento extra para los futbolistas vascos.

There are certain journalists that, in discussions on Bilbao´s team, always remember that without the “San Mames factor,” the Athletic would have been in Second division years ago. We can more or less agree with that, but what we must share is that it is a fundamental incentive and an extra wind for Basque footballers.

Este año, tras las elecciones del pasado verano, la nueva cúpula directiva comandada por Josu Urrutia inició esta etapa con unos objetivos claros: mantener una seña de identidad en cuanto a juego: ¡ataque, ataque y ataque! De la mano de un entrenador de reconocido prestigio como es Marcelo Bielsa, el equipo comenzó esta temporada con un ideario muy claro. Son varias las claves que han colocado al equipo bilbaíno en boca de todo el mundo por el futbol que despliega: correr siempre como leones, realizar estrechos marcajes, posiciones móviles en el equipo, posesión de balón como pilar fundamental para conseguir el triunfo y no reservar nunca fuerzas, ir siempre al límite. Y en esta temporada que se suponía de transición para el club ya se han cosechado los frutos. El primero y más importante es la comunión total del equipo con su afición, que orgullosa ha seguido de forma masiva su aventura europea, finalmente no se pudo alzar la copa de Europa pero perdurará en la memoria colectiva, la brillante victoria en Old Trafford y la vuelta de la eliminatoria contra el Sporting

This year, after last summer’s elections, the new board of directors, headed by Josu Urrutia, started this stage with some clear ideas: maintain their identity in terms of their game: attack, attack and attack!

We must also note various games worth remembering during

de Lisboa como elementos para el recuerdo.

También hay que destacar varios partidos a lo largo de la temporada para el recuerdo, como la victoria ante el Sevilla en la capital andaluza o el empate cosechado por el equipo ante el todopoderoso Barcelona ante los ojos de 42.000 rojiblancos orgullosos de su equipo y todo un país asombrado con este Athletic.

No nos debemos olvidar del ambiente que ha vivido la capital bilbaína en la primera mitad de este inolvidable 2012. Prácticamente no ha habido en la urbe comercio, institución, empresa o comunidad que no mostrara el apoyo al equipo en forma de emblema. En estos meses hemos convivido, con taxistas y abogados vestidos con la camiseta del athletic, balcones adornados con metros de tela rojiblanca, calles engalanadas con los colores del equipo y toda una ciudad eufórica e ilusionada con la trayectoria del mismo.

El último fin de semana de Mayo llegó el plato fuerte de la temporada con la final de la Copa del Rey. El equipo bilbaíno se enfrentaba al Barcelona de Pep Guardiola, en una final que se repetía tres años después. El resultado no fue el mismo, el desencanto similar.

Goleamos en afición al equipo barcelonista, aunque en esta ocasión los culés no permitieron que la final fuese competida.

Desde el primer minuto hicieron prevalecer su condición de favoritos y sentenciaron la final antes de que acabara la primera parte.

Decepción pasajera, orgullo permanente.

We mustn’t forget the sensation the capital has enjoyed in the first half of this unforgettable 2012. There was practically no shop, institute, company or community that didn’t show support for their team with some sort of emblem. These months we have seen taxi drivers and lawyers dressed in Athletic jerseys; balconies decorated with meters of red-white fabric; streets adorned with the team’s colours and a whole city euphoric and full of excitement with the team’s trajectory.

The last weekend of May the season’s main course arrived: the Copa del Rey´s final. Bilbao´s team faced Pep Guardiola´s Barcelona, in a final that was the repeat of three years prior. The result wasn’t the same, but the disillusionment was similar. We won against Barcelona’s fans, but it was Barcelona that didn’t allow for a competitive championship final. From the first minute they displayed why they were favourites and sentenced the final before the end of the first half. A passing disappointment, a lasting pride.

And I’m going to have to repeat: Bilbao´s fans are special. In San Mames we have

Y es que voy a repetir la manida frase de que el aficionado bilbaíno es especial. En San Mames hemos visto aplaudir al equipo rival o a un jugador que ha hecho un partido soberbio. Animar de forma constante al Athletic aunque su juego no acompañara a la tradición que el aficionado demanda y recuerda. Estamos hermanados con casi todas las aficiones y somos un equipo que está bien valorado entre el aficionado en general y, por mucho que nos quieran vender desde cierta prensa, está entre las tres mejores. Este si que es “más que un Club”.

Nuestro equipo está presente día a día en la calle, en el txikiteo o en cualquier reunión de amigotes y en los debates, además de la actualidad propia del equipo, son eternos: la calidad del equipo, cantera, inclusión de extranjeros o las salidas nocturnas de algún jugador del Athletic. Los lunes se comenta la actuación del equipo el domingo anterior y el resto de la semana se alterna el presente del club con los diferentes “debates eternos”.

Hay tertulias radiofónicas, emisoras que dedican prácticamente todo su espacio deportivo a hablar sobre el Athletic, debates televisivos, páginas y páginas de prensa diaria... En fin, está presente en cada medio, calle o casa, lo sentimos nuestro, sufrimos con ellos y les dedicamos horas y horas a nuestros leones. Están dentro de cada uno de nosotros. ¡Aupa Athletic!

Mondays we talk about the team’s game on the previous Sunday, and the rest of the week we alternate the clubs current situation with different “eternal debates.”

There are radio interviews, broadcast’s sports section are completely dedicated to talking about the Athletic, television debates, pages and pages of daily press…

PUENTE BIZKAIA Es el trasbordador mas antiguo del mundo, data del año 1.893 y se le considera el mas destacado representante de la era industrial y uno de los iconos mas reconocidos de Euskadi. En el año 2006, fue declarado patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO. Podemos ascender a 50 metros de altura y desde allí, deleitarnos con unas extraordinarias vistas que abarcan toda la desembocadura del Nervión. También existe la posibilidad de pasar en su barquilla, este sistema es utilizado a diario por pasajeros y vehículos para cruzar al municipio de Portugalete.

GUIDED TOURS Every weekend from June to September you can visit the Puerto Viejo and Bizkaia Bridge, also known as the Puente Colgante [Hanging Bridge] in an entertaining fashion via its guided or dramatised tours.

No previous reservations are required.

The Aquarium is in Getxo´s Puerto Deportivo complex, and it holds a wide variety of fish, coral, sea anemones, algae, invertebrates and shellfish species. There habitat is a perfect reproduction without artificial objects, so as to be as faithful as possible to the environment where the species live.

Un lugar acogedor en el que se respira un buen ambiente tanto en su interior, en la terraza o en el comedor situado en la parte superior. Excelentes pintxos y comida tradicional. Destaca el chuletón a la brasa y el rodaballo al horno entre otros. En la misma plaza se encuentra el RESTAURANTE TELLAGORRI con una barra repleta de pintxos y donde podemos pedir unas cazuelitas de boquerones, chipirones, etc. En la planta superior disfrutaremos de una excelente comida tradicional vasca con un toque de modernidad.

En el puerto viejo de Algorta encontramos El Restaurante Karola. Hace más de tres décadas, la abuela Karola abrió el restaurante.

Desde 1997, el local es regentado por su nieto, Gualberto Royo y en 2005, aires renovados traen a Karola Etxea la cocina de autor de Aitor Asenjo. Presumen de calidad y así lo van demostrando década tras década.

Al lado tenemos el ASADOR GOIEZTI. Cumple su 12 aniversario adaptándose a los tiempos que corren pero manteniendo la calidad. Otro clásico del puerto viejo es el Arrantzale.

Parada obligada para tomar unas cañas acompañadas de caracolillos, quisquillón, cazuelitas o pintxos. Al puerto viejo de Algorta le da un toque de color o de calor el restaurante mejicano SAUSALITO. Dice Aitor (su creador) que le tomaban por loco cuando propuso la idea de montar un mejicano en un puerto pesquero pero a día de hoy es uno de los restaurantes más frecuentados de la zona.

En el puerto Deportivo de Algorta destacamos el RESTAURANTE L´ANCORA. Su cocina italiana, con productos de primera calidad, está recreada por maestros cocineros, que le dan un aire muy especial.

BARAKALDO El esfuerzo del consistorio baracaldés por mejorar la calidad de vida de sus ciudadanos ha dado lugar a un reconocimiento estatal en forma de distinción como Ciudad de la Ciencia y la Innovación. Este premio tiene su origen en el impulso por parte del Ayuntamiento de hasta 61 proyectos innovadores que corresponden a todas las áreas municipales.

Los beneficios de obtener este galardón son múltiples y repercutirán directamente en el desarrollo y el progreso de esta ciudad.

Barakaldo pasa a formar parte de una red de 47 municipios estatales pioneros en este ámbito, denominada red INNPULSO, que potencia la relación entre los ayuntamientos y la realización de proyectos de colaboración.

Sólo Barakaldo y Móstoles han recibido esta distinción en la categoría de más de 100.000 habitantes, sin ser capital de provincia, lo que evidencia el mérito del premio.

Son cuatro los pilares por los que Barakaldo ha recibido esta distinción gracias a sus proyectos.

Located in the eastern region of the Encartaciones, in Karrantza, we find one of the most beautiful and singular places in Biscay. It is Pozolagua`s cave. The variety of lights and shapes with which this mythical and ancestral space is filled cause a sensation of astonishment and admiration to the visitor.

This enclave is considered as unique and besides, is understood as special, owing to its richness of eccentric stalactites that make up strange structures, fragile, but above all original vanquishing the law of gravity.

The reduced size fermentation tanks are individually filled with the farm’s separate plots, depending on the grapes characteristics, which is processed one way or the other.

16th century cellars store the wines in optimal conditions relative to temperature and humidity. That might be why, because of the respect and care given to these wines, Contino is recognised, after 30 years of its first season, a 1974 vintge, as a result of an ideal combination of vineyards, climate, soil and technique. CVNE has given all its experience to a winery capable of maintaining the local rustic flavour in its architecture while looking to the future with innovative facilities where modern wines with a lot of personality are made.

The grapes used are: Tempranillo and Graciano.

An elegant wine. Aromatic bouquet, with the freshness and acidity provided by the graciano grape and a mineral backdrop expressing a particular soil, aged in the shade of an ancient olive tree.

Picota cherry colour, high upper layer. Red cherry aromas over a black plum backdrop and touches of white chocolate, menthol and anis, probably due to the graciano grape.

Fresh and pleasant in the mouth, powerful, structured and full. Perfectly harmonising wood.

Aged for 16 months in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels. Then aged in the bottle for a minimum of 12 months more.

Bodega Creada en el año 1883 en Lezama.

En las cuatro hectáreas de viñedos de las que disponen, producen las variedades hondarribi zuri, mune mahatsa y riesling. Comercializan sus caldos bajo los nombres Torreko y Torreko Txakolina.

Lezaman, 1883. urtean sortutako upeltegia. Dituzten mahastietako lau hektareetan, hondarribi zuri, mune mahatsa eta riesling barietateak ekoizten dituzte. Beren ardoak hurrengo izenekin merkaturatzen dituzte: Torreko eta Torreko Txakolina.

A winery created in 1883 in Lezama. In its four hectares of vineyards, it produces Hondarribi zuri, Mune mahatsa and Riesling varieties. It sells its wines under the names Torreko and Torreko Txakolina.

One of the historic Txakolies in Bizkaia, it is produced by combining various aged vineyards around the Lezama Tower with the latest technology in our winery.

A la vista resulta una impecable presencia, limpio, brillante y cristalino color amarillo pajizo con irisaciones verdes. Abundante lágrima con buena evolución.

Begiratzerakoan, itxura ezin hobea du, garbia, distiratsua eta gardena, lasto hori kolorekoa, irisazio berdeekin. Malko ugaria, eboluzio onarekin.

La Nariz tiene una alta intensidad aromática, limpia, sobresale las frutas blancas, flores, esencias balsámicas que recuerdan a menta seca y hierbas aromáticas con recuerdos a anisados.

Sudurrak usain-intentsitate altua du, garbia, fruta bigunak, loreak eta esentzia baltsamikoak nabarmentzen dira, eta azken horiek menta lehorra gogora ekartzen digute, eta belar aromatikoak, anis-oroipenekin.

En boca tiene un entrada suave sin aristas, con una magnífica acidez que refresca la boca. Con un largo final donde devuelve las sensaciones balsámicas de la nariz.

No es necesario aunque si es conveniente abrir 15 minutos antes. Está en su momento óptimo de consumo. Por su acidez, permite una larga vida y conservación apreciándose una interesante evolución de sus aromas tanto en nariz como en boca.

Wine tasting notes It has an impeccable presence, clean, brilliant and a crystalline pale yellow with green sparkles. A thick tear with a good evolution.

To the nose it has an intensity aroma, clean, white fruits, flowers, and balsamic essences stand out that bring to mind dried mint and aromatic herbs with anis notes.

To the palette it comes in smoothly without hard edges, with a magnificent acidity that refreshes the mouth. With a long finish that brings back the balsamic sensations to the nose.

Not necessary, but it helps to open it 15 minutes prior to drinking. It is in its perfect moment to drink. Because of its acidity, it allows for a long shelf life, appreciating an interesting evolution of its aromas both to the nose and palette.

BILBAOCARD La tarjeta “BilbaoCard” tiene el objetivo de proporcionar a los visitantes que llegan a Bilbao comodidad y ahorro para planificar y disfrutar de su visita a la ciudad. Esta tarjeta ofrece, además del uso en los transportes de la red Creditrans del municipio de Bilbao (Bilbobús, Funicular de Artxanda, Ascensor de la Salve, Euskotran y Metro Bilbao), descuentos de entre el 10 y el 50% en museos, espectáculos, tiendas, restaurantes y otros espacios de ocio. La distribución de la tarjeta “BilbaoCard”, que tiene un precio de 6 euros para un día, 10 euros para dos días y 12 euros para tres días, se realiza a través de la venta directa al usuario en la ciudad (en las diferentes oficinas de Bilbao Turismo), Albergue de Bilbao o por Internet.

BILBAO RESERVAS BILBAO ERRESERBAK BILBAO RESERVATIONS

Este nuevo servicio de central de reservas pretende canalizar la demanda hotelera generada en los puntos de información turística, además de la promoción de Bilbao y sus alojamientos. El servicio dispone de un teléfono de información y reservas (902 87 72 98), en horario de lunes a sábado, de 10.00 a 13.30 y de 16.30 a 19.30, y domingos y festivos de 10.00 a 14.00, además de atención personal desde la oficina de turismo de la Plaza del Ensanche y del Teatro Arriaga. Bilbao Reservas está en funcionamiento las 24 horas por medio de su página web:

A fines de 1900 se constituye el Bilbao F.C. y a fines de 1901 se enfrenta por primera vez con el Athletic Club terminando con un empate. El partido disputado entre ambos el 19 de Enero de 1902 en Lamiako y que ganó 3-2 el Athletic Club fue el primero de pago celebrado en Bizkaia. En este partido el Athletic Club estrenó su camiseta azul y blanca que fue utilizada durante los primeros años de vida del club bilbaíno.

Bilbo Bizkaiko hiriburua da; horrela izendatu zuten 1602. urtean. Hala ere, 1931. urtera arte, Jaurerriak eta hiribilduek ez ziren Bilboko hiriburutza ezarri zuen akordiora iritsi.

Data horren aurretik, euskal probintziaren hiriburua Bermeoko udalerria zen, Busturialdea eskualdeko udalerria, alegia.

En 1504, y siguiendo el ejemplo de los correos mongoles (que ofrecían servicio postal y transportes) creó la primera línea regular de coches de posta entre Holanda y Francia. No obstante hubo que esperar hasta 1904 para que Louis Renault inventase el taxímetro con el que se calculaba el precio de los viajes según los kilómetros recorridos y el tiempo empleado en ellos.

Bilbao is the capital of Bizkaia, named as such in 1602. It wasn’t until 1631 when an agreement was made between the Nobility and the towns to establish the capital in Bilbao. Prior to this, the capital of the Basque province was the city of Bermeo, municipal of the Busturialdea county. It wasn’t easy to get.

The agreement was finally settled because the never-ending lawsuits arising between the local government and the towns almost led the municipal treasury to bankruptcy.

… the team’s uniform wasn’t always red and white?

By the end of 1900 the Bilbao F.C. was founded, and by the end of 1901 they played against the Athletic Club for the first time, ending in a draw. A game was held on 19 January, 1902 in Lamiako where the Athletic Club won 3-2, being the first game charging entrance in Bizkaia. In this game the Athletic Club debuted with their new blue and white jerseys which were first used during the club’s first years.

En 1602 fue nombrada capital de Vizcaya, título que hasta entonces ostentaba Bermeo.

Pero no es hasta 1631 cuando se produce el acuerdo entre El Señorío y las villas que fija la capitalidad en Bilbao. No fue fácil conseguirlo. Se llegó al acuerdo porque la cantidad interminable de pleitos que se habían suscitado entre las anteiglesias y las villas, habían llevado a las arcas municipales una auténtica situación de penuria.

However, we had to wait until 1904 for Louis Renault to invent the taximeter, with which the trips´ prices where calculated depending on the kilometres travelled and the time taken.
