Aprogramdesignedtoincreasesafety aroundPleasantHillSchoolsisinthefinal stages.The2023IntersectionandCrosswalk ImprovementsProjectstartedinthefallwith theawardingoftheconstructioncontractto GradeTech,Inc.inOctober2023.
ConstructionbeganinNovember,but installationwasdelayedatsomelocations duetolongdeliverytimesfromthemanufacturerofthestopsignsystems.Allstopsign systems,speedhumps,andstripingwere installedandoperationalinMarch2024.Flashingbeaconswerescheduledtobeinstalled abovethenewstopsignsbytheendofApril. Thenewimprovementswillbenefitthe entirecommunitybyprovidingyear-round safetyforpedestriansandbicycliststhrough theinstallationofcurbramps,additionalsignage,newhigh-visibilitycrosswalks,flashing beaconsystems,LEDflashingstopsigns,and speedhumps.

Congratulationstothefirstgraduatingclassof 2024!TwelvePleasantHillresidentscompletedthe CERTcourseinFebruary.Theylearnedtoprepare theirfamiliesandhomestobetterwithstandearthquakes,flooding,windstorms,andfires.Their trainingcontinueswithotherCERTmembersduringareameetingsandexercisesasCERT volunteersremainreadytoassisttheirneighborhoodswhendisasterstrikes.
