Many months, in the sprint to finish the magazine and get the files off to the printer, I find that sitting down to write this column is the very last thing to be completed. Sometimes that is because the narrative rattling around in my head has not fully formed yet. Sometimes it is because I know that I need to use the space to include an important topic that we did not
have room for elsewhere in the issue. This month the situation is a little bit of both. Please indulge me in the forthcoming hodge podge of topics.
The July issue of Our BroomfieldTM marks our three-year anniversary! And on our anniversary, I am thankful. Thankful first and foremost for the support and participation of my loving family. My husband, daughters, and parents most of all. Second, I am thankful for our A1 staff. Tammy, Jason, Stacey, Megan, Lisa, Bette, Missy, Kristen, and Matt. Each of them is so creative, talented, and dedicated. We are very blessed to have this amazing team! Next, I am thankful for each and every advertiser and local community partner. Thank you for your thoughtful and committed partnership with us to bring community news, information, and resources to the ENTIRE Broomfield community and create meaningful connections with each issue! Finally, thank you to YOU, our loyal readers! I love hearing from you and finding out how you learned about an important Broomfield organization or event by reading the magazine, and therefore became more engaged with our community.
This issue is our health, wellness, and beauty issue. Those three words can mean many different things – their manifestation varied in each person’s physical, emotional, or spiritual life, with great variations depending on the stage of life. As we prepare to publish, I am thinking less about the in-between and more about arrivals and departures. My husband and I are about to drive to Houston to be with our daughter as she gives birth to her first child. We are beside ourselves with joy and anticipation! At the same time, I find myself preparing to say goodbye to a dear loved one after a hard-fought battle with cancer and processing the resulting emotions. We are given one body, one soul, to carry through this world. And it is a precious and beautiful thing at every stage, none to be taken for granted.
Through it all, the world keeps turning. We have hit the height of summer, marked by the 4th of July! Whether you are a long-time Broomfield resident or new to the area, Broomfield’s 4th of July Celebration, The Great American Picnic, at the Broomfield Commons, is not to be missed! There are several things to be aware of regarding times, what is permitted, and parking. You can find all of the details to plan your day at https://www.broomfield.org/611/July-4th. Have a great time and stay safe.

It’s July – have dinner outside. It can be on a blanket in the yard, on a card table and chairs in the garage or on your front/back patio. String some lights, set up a speaker, and enjoy the fresh air.
At some point this summer (or year) you might have a dinner party. In a world full of obligations and things we have to do, actually choosing to create a special night with loved ones is so very important.
I am a big believer in the power of a gathering. They have a transformative ability to create a feeling of connectedness and happiness. Guests come ready to connect and enjoy their time with you. We can all use more of these positive feelings in our lives!
You might be someone who loves to entertain and has no problem throwing together a dinner party for 12. Or you might be someone who stresses out at the very thought of having to entertain and cook for others. If it doesn’t come naturally to you, here are some easy ideas on how to throw a party that your guests will not soon forget.
I’d like to focus on the word EASY. Nobody remembers a perfectly folded napkin or special garnishes on the plate. I used to think that I had to go all out in order for my guests to have fun. I would make elaborate meals and high maintenance appetizers. I would end up spending most of the night cooking and not enjoying my friends. I now realize that the most fun dinner parties are very simple. Here are a few ideas to help keep the stress at bay.
It’s July – have dinner outside. It can be on a blanket in the yard, on a card table and chairs in the garage or on your front/back patio. String some lights, set up a speaker, and enjoy the fresh air.
Be intentional about who you invite. More isn’t always the merrier. Eight, including yourself, is the most you want so that you all can talk. Six is even more intimate.
Serve food that guests have to build themselves. Start with a base item like taco bowls, soup or mac and cheese. And then serve it with different kinds of toppings they can add in themselves to make it their own. Prep
all the toppings ahead of time so that the main dish is the only thing left to cook. Or even cook the main dish ahead of time and heat it up!
When your guests arrive, put them to work. People like to feel useful and it immediately breaks the ice. Hand them a beverage and then have them help prep some food or pour the drinks for other guests. They will immediately feel at home and at ease.
Hide a discussion topic under each plate. Take turns asking your question and see where the conversation leads.
I’m going to circle back to the food because I know this part stresses a lot of people out. In all honesty, you can always buy prepared food from Costco or the grocery or even your favorite restaurant and serve it in your own dishes. Nobody cares. Guests only want to spend the evening connecting with you.
And my best advice? This is straight from my fatherin-law. He would always serve his guests two cocktails before dinner so that the food tasted better. Worked every time.
Pick a night this summer and invite your friends over to unplug from the craziness of life and leave with a full heart (and stomach). Happy July!

Join the movement to foster community through reading! One Book One Broomfield invites residents to read this year’s selection, “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by author David Grann, and participate in book discussions and related events and hear from the author November 2. Events are open to all, regardless of home library.
The goal of Broomfield’s One Book program, dating back to 2006, was to create a citywide reading and discussion program that encourages residents to read the same book at the same time, creating a shared sense of community through literature.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” recounts the 1920’s-era sinister murders of the wealthy Osage Nation members and the racial injustices they faced in American History. The captivating story nods to the fitful investigation into the killings and their role in shaping the modern FBI under the direction of J. Edgar Hoover.
Famed movie director Martin Scorsese is currently directing the upcoming movie “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The movie’s cast is made up of big, recognizable actors as well.
Slated to be released October 20, 2023, the cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Brendan Fraser, Robert DeNiro, and Jesse Plemons, to name a few. The movie is also scheduled for an unspecified streaming release on Apple TV+.

School may be out for summer, but it’s time to start thinking about squeezing in those important doctor appointments in between weekend getaways and fun adventures to the park. Dr. Mata and the whole team at Mata Dental Broomfield are here for you and are gladly welcoming new patients into their dental family.
With his wife Ginny running the office, this family owned and operated dental practice is conveniently located on 120th and Main. When they say family dental they mean it, and it is just one way Mata Dental differs from big corporate run dental offices; they truly care about you and your family and want what’s best for your dental health, not like other practices that are sometimes focused on the big upsell. The staff at Mata wants to educate you and teach you the best ways to care for your teeth and gums, because dental health is a key to staying healthy.
Did you know that almost half of the U.S. population of adults ages 30 years and older shows signs of gum disease? Nine percent of those show signs of severe gum disease. Periodontal disease (gum disease) is an infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place. It can lead to tooth loss and also heart and lung disease. Although gum disease can be serious, mild cases can be treated by maintaining a good level of oral hygiene. Which includes brushing twice a day and flossing regularly. It is also important to have regular dental
child’s teeth to make sure there are no significant problems. Then Kayla, Dr. Mata’s amazing hygienist, will do a polish to get the child used to the dental experience. “We are not a pediatric dental office but do see many kids as long as they are comfortable here and can sit for the hygienist and doctor. A lot of times when our patients are pregnant, we start educating them on what to do when their babies are little. Most pediatricians do the same,” explained Ginny.
visits for cleanings so Dr. Mata and his team can help keep an eye on potential trouble spots for you and your kids.
When is a good time to start kids going to the dentist? Dr. Mata prefers that children have most of their teeth grown in first, so that is at about two years old. He calls the first visit a “happy” dental visit, and reviews good home dental care with parents, as well as taking a quick peek at the
Besides dental hygiene and periodontal health, Mata Dental also provides services for dentures, extractions, crowns, and fillings just to name a few. In their state-of-theart facility, they also can do simple orthodontic procedures, help you with your troublesome TMJ, and make night guards for you to help protect your teeth from nighttime wear and tear. Remember daily brushing along with flossing regularly is the best way to fight gum disease and when you are ready to be cared for by a dentist who truly treats you like one of his own, give Ginny a call or make an appointment online to see Dr. Mata at Mata Dental today.

That June 3rd morning was the official kick-off to the Broomfield 100.

Activity details are via a passport, available online or via hardcopy at the Citizen Assistant Center at the George DiCiero Building, One DesCombes Drive, or the Paul Derda Recreation Center, 13201 Lowell Blvd. Participants are encouraged to hike or bike the variety of routes offered – generally summing to 100 miles. As we enter the heat of July and a season packed with barbeques, pool parties, and outdoor events, what better time to take a little extra time protecting your luscious locks of hair. The professional team at Appearances Hair Color and Design Studio have some helpful summer hair care tips for all styles of hair, all different lengths of hair, and all the colors you can imagine.
With more than 300 days of sunshine in Colorado it is important to wear sunscreen, but did you know that our scalps are also prone to sunburn in the hot Colorado sun? If you are going up in elevation or just spending time outside this summer it’s so important to cover up, but if you are not going to wear a hat, put a little spray sunscreen on your head, especially at your part line to protect that sensitive skin from burning.
Summer in Colorado means it’s finally warm enough for some serious pool time. Unfortunately, swim pools are full of harsh, color fading chemicals. To protect your hair from the color fading and dryness that comes with hours spent in a chlorinated pool, simply apply leave-in conditioner to your hair before arriving for a full day of pool fun. The conditioner will help guard your hair, so it will absorb less chlorine from the pool.
Looking for a new look this summer? Let a Board-Certified Color Specialist at Appearances Hair Color and Design Studio help you find just the right splash of color to fit your personality and lifestyle. Their stylists offer a wide variety of hair care services from a trendy new cut to a revolutionary new style. They are dedicated to providing every client with exceptional service which includes listening to your wants and ideas and helping you look and feel your very best.
The entire team is excited about summer hair! Got an idea but you’re not sure if it will look good on you? Come in and talk to any one of their professional stylists who have trained to master the latest techniques in hairstyling and give you an elegant, gorgeous, and fun style to suit your individuality. There are many popular styles being cut and colored this summer, but one recurring theme is layers. The more layers the better. Different versions of the Shag haircuts are also in demand such as “the Wolf,” “the Butterfly,” and even “the
Rachel” is making a strong comeback, with its sassy flirty look. Appearances Hair Color and Design Studio has affiliate programs with Keratase, and Bumble and Bumble, and also sells Pureology in the salon. Right now, they are running a special on their Nutritive line by Kerastase, two for 15% off or three for 20% off (while supplies last.) They are conveniently located near 120th and Bradburn, so stop by or call for an appointment at 303-466-5277. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram or visit https://appearances.site/.
This summer, the Broomfield Community Foundation turns 30.
The foundation was launched in 1993 by a group of Chamber of Commerce members who were brainstorming ways to manage an increasing number of solicitations for donations and contributions. The group also wanted to ensure their contributions were going to worthy causes. After incorporating as a 501(c)3 organization, the foundation began its mission with just $550 in the bank.
Throughout the next 30 years, the foundation awarded its first grants in 1994, appointed its first executive director in 1998 and raised more than $150,000 in donations from 283 small business and family contributions to establish its first permanent endowment in 2001.
Today, the foundation has more than $4 million in assets under management and has distributed over $3 million into the community through grants and scholarships. Through the collaborative support and investment of over 1,500 donors, the foundation has funded over 100 local nonprofit organizations and initiatives and provided over 100 scholarships.
The community is invited to help the foundation celebrate 30 years at the Great American Picnic on July 4th at the Broomfield County Commons, where it will be joined by its partner of 30 years, Sill TerHar Motors.
Executive Director Marianna Williamson shared her perspectives on the foundation and its growth during the past three decades.
support provided to nonprofits serving Broomfield has grown substantially over the course of 30 years.
Q: What are some of the most significant or noteworthy milestones/accomplishments since it was founded?
A: In the past five years alone, our annual grant distribution has more than tripled, as well as increasing the number of Donor Advised and Scholarship Funds which provide an infusion of investment dollars directly into our local community. Additionally, the scope of support to local organizations extends beyond just grant funding. The foundation facilitates a monthly service provider network called BCSN, which connects nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, and faith-based organizations to build capacity for greater collaborative impact. Other capacity-building efforts include the development of a volunteer platform and annual speed networking featuring local nonprofit volunteer opportunities.
Q: What are the goals for the Foundation for the next decade?
Q: What was the original mission of BCF and how has that mission evolved over the past 30 years?
A: The Broomfield Community Foundation’s mission has always been to improve the quality of life for all Broomfield residents. Our five pillars focus grant funding on the arts, civic causes, education, human services and seniors. While our mission has stayed the same, the amount of our grant funding and additional
A: The best entry point for local community members is to join our iGIVE365 program (www.iGIVE365.org). Our goal is to increase our iGIVE365 membership to provide supplemental support for our annual grant cycle. If we can get just 2 percent of Broomfield residents to join by giving $1 per day back to the community, we could fully support our annual grant cycle. Additionally, we would like to further develop our Planned Giving Program to sustain the foundation and our local nonprofit community well into the future and to ensure that local residents can leave a legacy.
Q: Why has the organization been successful over 30 years?
A: BCF has had steady growth and success because of Broomfield’s strong community support, which includes donations

from generous individuals and local businesses. Additionally, we must credit some of our success to the strengthening of our partnerships with local agencies, service providers, faith-based organizations, the City of Broomfield, as well as a long list of outstanding board members over the years. As the foundation continues to build these relationships, the more support we are able to provide to nonprofits, both financially and organizationally. This growth, therefore, creates a virtuous cycle wherein nonprofits are able to expand their scope and reach while we continue to grow and provide ever-increasing support.
Q: How long have you been with the foundation and what is your role?
A: Five years ago, I began my tenure as the executive director. As a result of continued growth and a rapid broadening of service programs, especially during COVID-19, Dion West shifted her role from board vice president and grant committee chair in 2020 to join me as co-executive director. Our skills complement each other well and as a result of this joint endeavor, we are able to devote more time and resources to ensuring the foundation’s legacy well into the future.
Q: How can residents support the Broomfield Community Foundation?
A: Residents can join our iGIVE365 program (www.iGIVE365.org). Residents also can give back and enter for a chance to win $3,000
www.tapkat.org/broomfield-community-foundation/1EbZWE.
In addition, community members can join a committee, establish a personal fund to support what matters to them, participate in the annual Broomfield Gives Month in November in which donations to BCF will be matched up to $30,000, or join us at the annual Heart of Broomfield Awards on September 29. We also have an amazing Youth Advisory Council composed of high-school-aged leaders who manage their own charitable fund and provide grants to local nonprofits. (www.broomfieldfoundation.org/yac)
The Broomfield Human Services Department’s overarching mission is to help the community thrive through critical services that ensure residents have access to food, shelter, and transportation, among other services. The Human Services Department and Broomfield Health Department used to be one department, but they split in early 2020 so each could focus on its core services.
Among the department’s strategic priorities are promoting individual and whole family success, employment and economic resiliency, childhood development and increased access to physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral health services. It does so through four divisions, each with a specific focus.
The Self Sufficiency Division provides public assistance and services to support individuals and families in the community with the goal of improving health, wellbeing and economic stability. This department determines eligibility for programs such as food assistance, Medicaid, Tem-
porary Aid for Needy Families (TANF), and the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).
The Workforce Center supports the community through no-cost services by
been focused on prevention rather than intervention during the past several years and has had great success in reducing the number of children in out-of-home placements by placing children temporarily with family and connecting families with wraparound services like food assistance, connecting with schools, and offering employment assistance.
connecting job seekers and businesses looking for employees. Resources for job seekers include workshops for self-directed job searches, one-on-one career coaching and career research. Business partners can make use of job postings, recruitment assistance, job fairs, and local labor market information.
The Child, Adult, and Family Services Division is responsible for intervention services for children and at-risk adults related to potential abuse and neglect. This includes child protection and foster care services for children and investigation of maltreatment of adults. The division has
The Operations Division provides direct support to all Human Services Department programs, including monitoring, fee collection, federal and state data reporting, accounting, budgeting, and oversight to ensure services comply with all state and federal laws.
Broomfield’s Human Services Department served nearly 8,000 unduplicated residents last year. That included 6,200 Medicaid recipients, food assistance for 1,900 residents, 68 TANF recipients, and 62 households in the CCAP program. The department has about 74 employees to serve Broomfield’s population of 78,000 people. Roughly 80 percent of its budget

goes toward direct client benefits, said Broomfield Director of Human Services Dan Casey.
The department works closely with community partners to help meet the needs of residents who need it.
“We couldn’t serve our community without our nonprofit partners like FISH,” said Casey. “There’s things they can’t do without us and there are a lot of things we can’t do without them. We really collaborate quite a bit.”
The Human Services Department was a critical safety net for many residents during and after the pandemic. The need for food, rent and unemployment assistance increased during the past three years, and with the federal public health emergency now ending, some residents are having their food assistance allot-
ments reduced to pre-pandemic levels. Casey said the department has seen a 20 percent increase in demand for food assistance during the first quarter of this year.
In addition, Medicaid is now in a redetermination phase, and Casey said about a quarter of residents who were eligible for Medicaid during the pandemic will no longer be eligible because they either have found a job or are earning more money. He encourages current Medicaid recipients to ensure their information is up to date in the system so they don’t lose benefits they are eligible for.
Broomfield’s Human Services Department was recently recognized by the Colorado Department of Human Services as one of 15 Distinguished Performance Award winners. The award goes to coun-
ties that meet or exceed state goals for timeliness, safety, and accuracy in their work. Broomfield met 82.8 percent of the goals last year.
“It was pretty cool for our team to be recognized,” said Casey.

• 1/4 cup Honey Vinaigrette (see right)
• 2 ounces feta cheese, crumbled (about 1/2 cup)
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Combine tomato wedges, diced peach, and corn in a medium bowl. Sprinkle with salt. Drizzle with Honey Vinaigrette, and toss to coat. Divide salad among 4 plates, or serve on 1 large platter. Top with feta, and sprinkle with black pepper. Honey Vinaigrette Ingredients
• ½ cup canola oil
• ⅓ cup white balsamic vinegar
• 2 tablespoons honey
Cake:
Bake a white box cake according to instructions on box, baking in a 9X13 pan.
Fillings:
• 1 teaspoon cornstarch, divided
• 1 teaspoon water, divided
• 6 ounces fresh blueberries
• 2/3 cup granulated sugar, divided
• 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice (from 1 orange), divided
• 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon), divided
• 1/4 teaspoon table salt, divided
• 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries (from 1 3/4 cups whole strawberries)
Frosting:
• 1 (8-oz.) container mascarpone cheese
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup (about 2 oz.) unsifted powdered sugar, divided
• 2 cups heavy cream
Garnishes:
Fresh blueberries and strawberries
Directions:
Prepare and bake the box cake according to package.
Prepare the Fillings: Stir together 1/2 teaspoon each of the cornstarch and water
in a small bowl; set aside. Stir together blueberries, 1/3 cup of the sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of the orange juice, 1 1/2 tablespoons of the lemon juice, and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt in a medium saucepan. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium, stirring constantly. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch-water mixture; simmer, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens slightly, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove from heat; let cool 15 minutes. Process mixture using an immersion blender until smooth, about 30 seconds. (Alternatively, transfer mixture to a blender, and blend until smooth.) Pour mixture into a bowl; cover and chill until cold, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, repeat procedure with remaining cornstarch, water, sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, and salt, using chopped strawberries in place of the blueberries. Assemble the Cake: Using a 1/4-inch-wide wooden dowel or the round handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes spaced 1 inch apart over the entire Cake surface, poking at least three-quarters of the way through the Cake, but not poking all the way to the bottom. Spoon blueberry and strawberry
• 2 teaspoons minced red onion or shallot
• ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
• ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a clean jar. Cover with lid, and shake until fully blended. Use immediately, or chill until ready to use.
Fillings alternately in lengthwise rows over Cake surface, being sure to fill all holes. Chill, uncovered, 1 hour.
Prepare the Frosting: Beat mascarpone cheese, vanilla, and 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar with a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment on medium speed until just combined, about 30 seconds. Add heavy cream; beat on medium speed until foamy, about 30 seconds. Increase speed to medium-high; gradually add remaining 1/4 cup powdered sugar, beating until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute, 30 seconds. (Do not overbeat.)
Spread Frosting evenly around sides of chilled Cake. Dollop remaining Frosting onto top of Cake, carefully spreading over top. Garnish with fresh blueberries and strawberries.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
AboutChelsea: “I’m lucky to have called many places home. I’ve lived in Alabama, Alaska, Minnesota, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Colorado. Colorado is my home state because I’ve lived here the longest. All this movement is in part due to both my parents starting their careers in the Army. But it’s also because I value fresh experiences, settings and people in my life.
“For me, there’s nothing better than a good song or a good conversation. My mom tells me that I always woke up singing and telling stories before her coffee was ready. Now that I’m a mother, I’m living that experience from her vantage point with my oldest son. It feels only natural that I’ve settled into a career helping people connect to their loved ones and the moments that matter to them. I’ve served people with hearing loss since 2010 and in 2017 became co-owner of Family Hearing, which is celebrating its 60th year as a community resource.”
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
A: My husband, Robert, and I have been
A: I started my career assisting children in improving their verbal communication, but for the last 13 years I have supported adults with their receptive communication. I enjoy what I do because helping people hear better blends my love of connecting with people with my passion for sound. As co-owner of Family Hearing for the last six years, my purpose has expanded to help the practice enhance the care we provide to exceed the best practices of the day. I love collaborating with my business partner, Jen, to develop strategies to help our patients and our team members achieve their aspirations. The ability to help people at home or at work is why I get out of bed every day.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: Jus’ Burritos, Snarfs, Original Pizza, and Zaika.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: My mentors, Christopher Schweitzer and Karima Thobani, who were the previous owners of my practice. From my viewpoint, they lead their lives heart-forward. This was
epitomized by their purchase of Family Hearing after their first date. I love that their investment in each other and the practice paid out because they committed to the belief that it would. They also live their lives as citizens of the world, with family and experiences across the globe.
Q: What current or former local business makes you most nostalgic about our community?
A: Does the Broomfield Community Center count as a business? Before they renovated, the south side of the building had three couches filled with people surrounding a well-used coffee maker that had the smell of spilled brew on the warming plate. They were all reading newspapers, catching up on their way into a class or biding time until a ‘healthy heart’ lunch. Now the building is breathtaking and the smell of burnt coffee is gone, but that feeling of community and activity is just as strong. I love that.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: Rob and I will be supporting the experiences our little people are passionate about. They will be in the thick of their school years then. We should also be traveling more often. Personally, I hope I’ll be volunteering regularly and including my children in on the fun.

At Avista Adventist Hospital we care about the health and wellness of our patients and the surrounding communities we serve.
As we enter the dog days of summer, our schedules can become hectic and even a little crazy. The stress of trying to keep up with everyday life can tire out even the most organized person. One way to help keep you healthy, and be stronger mentally, physically, and emotionally is through self care.
Never underestimate the importance of a good morning routine. By establishing a morning routine, you can decrease your stress levels, brighten your mood, and have more energy throughout the day. Simple routines like; meditation, daily affirmations, or yoga can get your day started on the right foot. Morning routines are not about adding more to
your to-do list, but about getting into the right state of mind to stimulate your brain for a productive day ahead.
There are also the benefits of a little ‘me time’ that self care provides but we often neglect. If we are busy running around taking care of others, eventually we can burn out, but if we take time for ourselves, we will feel less stressed and enjoy life’s little moments. A sunset walk, scheduled monthly massage, or simply catching up with a friend over coffee helps our brains unplug and unwind. Me time can help us relax, refocus, and remind ourselves why it’s important to push ourselves to the top of the priority list.
There will be times when stress builds, sleep starts to be disrupted, and you get that drowning feeling like you will never catch up. It’s in these moments that you
Morning routines are not about adding more to your to-do list, but about getting into the right state of mind to stimulate your brain for a productive day ahead.
need to practice self care for your mind and body. Taking deep slow breaths can ease your stress response and sooth your nervous system. Exercise can also be a powerful stress reliever. Yoga or going on a hike can help with focus and clear your mind.
At Avista Adventist Hospital, we want to remind you that even though we will always have stressors in our lives, by practicing some self care, we can find ways of relaxing our whole self – mind, body, and soul.
