FROM THE EDITOR:

Many months, in the sprint to finish the magazine and get the files off to the printer, I find that sitting down to write this column is the very last thing to be completed. Sometimes that is because the narrative rattling around in my head has not fully formed yet. Sometimes it is because I know that I need to use the space to include an important topic that we did not have room for elsewhere in the issue. This month the situation is a little bit of both. Please indulge me in the forthcoming hodge podge of topics.

Our Anniversary

The July issue of Our BroomfieldTM marks our three-year anniversary! And on our anniversary, I am thankful. Thankful first and foremost for the support and participation of my loving family. My husband, daughters, and parents most of all. Second, I am thankful for our A1 staff. Tammy, Jason, Stacey, Megan, Lisa, Bette, Missy, Kristen, and Matt. Each of them is so creative, talented, and dedicated. We are very blessed to have this amazing team! Next, I am thankful for each and every advertiser and local community partner. Thank you for your thoughtful and committed partnership with us to bring community news, information, and resources to the ENTIRE Broomfield community and create meaningful connections with each issue! Finally, thank you to YOU, our loyal readers! I love hearing from you and finding out how you learned about an important Broomfield organization or event by reading the magazine, and therefore became more engaged with our community.

Our Health, Beauty, and Wellness

This issue is our health, wellness, and beauty issue. Those three words can mean many different things – their manifestation varied in each person’s physical, emotional, or spiritual life, with great variations depending on the stage of life. As we prepare to publish, I am thinking less about the in-between and more about arrivals and departures. My husband and I are about to drive to Houston to be with our daughter as she gives birth to her first child. We are beside ourselves with joy and anticipation! At the same time, I find myself preparing to say goodbye to a dear loved one after a hard-fought battle with cancer and processing the resulting emotions. We are given one body, one soul, to carry through this world. And it is a precious and beautiful thing at every stage, none to be taken for granted.

Our Country

Through it all, the world keeps turning. We have hit the height of summer, marked by the 4th of July! Whether you are a long-time Broomfield resident or new to the area, Broomfield’s 4th of July Celebration, The Great American Picnic, at the Broomfield Commons, is not to be missed! There are several things to be aware of regarding times, what is permitted, and parking. You can find all of the details to plan your day at https://www.broomfield.org/611/July-4th. Have a great time and stay safe.

Until next month,

Tina Eichner, Editor & Publisher
