School may be out for summer, but it’s time to start thinking about squeezing in those important doctor appointments in between weekend getaways and fun adventures to the park. Dr. Mata and the whole team at Mata Dental Broomfield are here for you and are gladly welcoming new patients into their dental family.

With his wife Ginny running the office, this family owned and operated dental practice is conveniently located on 120th and Main. When they say family dental they mean it, and it is just one way Mata Dental differs from big corporate run dental offices; they truly care about you and your family and want what’s best for your dental health, not like other practices that are sometimes focused on the big upsell. The staff at Mata wants to educate you and teach you the best ways to care for your teeth and gums, because dental health is a key to staying healthy.

Did you know that almost half of the U.S. population of adults ages 30 years and older shows signs of gum disease? Nine percent of those show signs of severe gum disease. Periodontal disease (gum disease) is an infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place. It can lead to tooth loss and also heart and lung disease. Although gum disease can be serious, mild cases can be treated by maintaining a good level of oral hygiene. Which includes brushing twice a day and flossing regularly. It is also important to have regular dental visits for cleanings so Dr. Mata and his team can help keep an eye on potential trouble spots for you and your kids.

When is a good time to start kids going to the dentist? Dr. Mata prefers that children have most of their teeth grown in first, so that is at about two years old. He calls the first visit a “happy” dental visit, and reviews good home dental care with parents, as well as taking a quick peek at the child’s teeth to make sure there are no significant problems. Then Kayla, Dr. Mata’s amazing hygienist, will do a polish to get the child used to the dental experience. “We are not a pediatric dental office but do see many kids as long as they are comfortable here and can sit for the hygienist and doctor. A lot of times when our patients are pregnant, we start educating them on what to do when their babies are little. Most pediatricians do the same,” explained Ginny.

Besides dental hygiene and periodontal health, Mata Dental also provides services for dentures, extractions, crowns, and fillings just to name a few. In their state-of-theart facility, they also can do simple orthodontic procedures, help you with your troublesome TMJ, and make night guards for you to help protect your teeth from nighttime wear and tear. Remember daily brushing along with flossing regularly is the best way to fight gum disease and when you are ready to be cared for by a dentist who truly treats you like one of his own, give Ginny a call or make an appointment online to see Dr. Mata at Mata Dental today.
