Picture the Scene: Sicily IL, 1920, a Profile of a Family from Midax
No matter what kind of business you operate, your visitors are going to remember your restroom. How can you help ensure the best possible user experience? When it comes to hand-drying solutions in public spaces, especially high-traffic areas like convenience stores, your primary focus should be hygiene—and we can provide you with the facts to make an informed decision. Though rumors and myths exist regarding whether hand dryers or paper towels are the most hygienic hand-drying choice, a review of recent research demonstrates that hand dryers are just as hygienic as paper towels: • In their most recent recommendations, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that everyone should “frequently clean [their] hands” and “dry [them] thoroughly by using paper towels or a warm air dryer.” • In their new guidelines, the CDC states, “there is currently not enough scientific evidence to determine if using a clean towel or an air hand dryer to dry your hands is more effective at reducing germs on your hands. Both are effective ways to dry your hands.” • An independent study by the Mayo Clinic concluded “there is no difference in bacteria counts when drying with paper towels or hand dryers.” • An extensive review by the University of Arizona Health Sciences research team
Sal and Frank Petrello open a deli. They take a picture for posterity. Next door is M. Green’s General Store, where they are about to pop in two gas pumps and become an early convenience store. Now it is 2020. Their grandsons acquired Green’s when they went out West to concentrate on the casino business. Now in Little Sicily, on one lot, the deli has since become a small grocery store, a restaurant and a gas station, now also with a truck stop at the back. They provide Petrello Fuel for all the local fleets. Petrello’s have great pizza, so have a lot of eat-in and delivery trade. They also take orders through Uber and DoorDash. Busy times over the last year or two! They do their own delivery: to trucks on the lot, to cars at the pump and local home deliveries. They discount gas for Barzini’s Grocery. So when their own customers and grocery customers come in, their mobile app tells them what specials there are in the store, so they come inside, rather than just gas ‘n go. Those smarts added 35 percent to their gas sales and 12 percent to their inside sales. They have a loyalty app, which tells them they have a free coffee and the app coupons them automatically when they buy in the store. Their customer retention is sky high. Seventy-five percent of their customers are in the loyalty program: discounted gas for groceries, two for one breakfast sandwiches, coffee club, rewards point for

Blendtec works side by side with thousands of high-end restaurants, smoothie shops, coffee shops, professional sports facilities, and more on a daily basis. The company loves to innovate products based on what customers need, and that need has been a resounding “Reduce waste, increase speed, and save money.” Across the board, Blendtec has seen a desire to create a product worthy of these claims, and the company is proud to say it’s done it. Introducing the all-new Nitro Blending System from Blendtec, the jarless blending solution that has been absolutely disruptive in the industry. The Stealth Nitro and Stealth Nitro X blenders blend directly into the cup, leaving on average just 1 to 2 percent of waste compared to nearly 15 percent when blending with a regular blending jar. It works with plastic, paper, and even metal cups ranging from 12 to 36 ounces. Blending time has been reduced to just under 15 seconds with virtually no clean up, allowing franchises across the country to increase their daily customer count, and ultimately, their bottom line. The X in Stealth Nitro X refers to another innovation that Blendtec has applied to a select few products: the Titan X brushless motor. Compared to Blendtec’s standard blender motors that are meant to withstand hundreds of thousands of blends during the duration of its life, the Titan X motor has a lifetime of up to three times as long, and also runs cooler and quieter. Simply put, it’s the best motor on the market today. Pair the Titan
