WHAT QUALIFICATION IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
We know that finding the perfect course can be overwhelming, so here’s a quick guide to the different qualifications we offer, to help make your decision a little easier.
CERTIFICATE/DIPLOMA OF HIGHER EDUCATION
A level 4 Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is equivalent to the first year of a degree programme, while the level 5 Diploma (DipHE) is equivalent to the first two years of full-time study at degree level. Students can progress from these qualifications to a full degree.
HNC/HND
A level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) and level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) are work-related qualifications that combine theory and practical hands on experience. They are highly valued by employers. A HNC is completed in one year of full-time study. A HND is generally recognised as the equivalent to two years at university. Both courses offer progression opportunities for further study.
Foundation Degree
A Foundation Degree combines academic study with workplace learning. Designed in association with employers, they are qualifications to equip people with the relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to achieve academic results as well as improve performance and productivity in the workplace. Foundation Degrees focus on a particular job or profession and are intended to increase the professional and technical skills of current or potential staff within a profession.
DEGREES: BA (HONS), BENG (HONS) AND BSC (HONS)
We offer several level 6 degree qualifications including BA (Hons) (Bachelor of Arts), BEng (Hons) (Bachelor of Engineering) and BSc (Hons) (Bachelor of Science) programmes. There are a variety of study pathways including standard three-year degrees, top-up degrees and degree apprenticeships, with many available through full-time study, part-time study, and for apprenticeships, time off from employment in order to attend College.
Teaching Qualifications
The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Professional Certificate in Education are for those who would like to pursue a teaching role in post-16 education. You will be challenged to explore theories of teaching and learning and to examine the implications of such theories for your own development. The course itself focuses on harnessing your abilities as a teacher, and not on the subject that you intend to teach.
