RAYMOND’S DISINGENUOUS COMMENTS BEGINNING TO TAKE THEIR TOLL
The amazing journey of political candidate John Raymond continues to erode what veracity the man might possess in seeking his latest conquest and the first into the world of office holding. The founder of the New Horizon Church and Lakeside Christian Academy erroneously told the Slidell Police Department that he was being “bullied and harassed” by two fellow members of The St. Tammany Republican Parish Executive Committee. These community leaders had arrived for a meeting with Raymond at his church offices at 3501 Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell to have questions answered, as required by law, to determine whether Raymond and his station had been handling political advertising in the 90th Legislative District race in a proper manner, specifically ads for his candidacy that have run on his radio station. This story, reported in The Advocate, has been substantiated to this publication. And in an off-the-record discussion with a major player in a related story, it was revealed that Raymond had not made a payment until one was received just over a year ago to a company that lent Raymond $100,000 in 2013 when the lack of funding to put Raymond’s radio station on the air was putting its existence (and its coveted FCC license) in jeopardy. The company said without the money the station probably wouldn’t have gone on the air. That singular payment of $5,760 was made off of donations from a lengthy three-day fundraiser performed by Christian FM, a Christian radio format company that provides programming for Christian broadcasters. The station was literally taken over by Christian FM for this purpose and the money raised placed in one of Raymond’s accounts and paid to Next Level Productions and Promotions, the Florida-based company who had lent Raymond $100,000 in a promissory note. According to the source, Raymond kept making excuses and promises that payment to Next Level would be forthcoming. The company had made the loan to Raymond at a 15% interest rate because of the risk involved. Since that payment in 2017, the source told Northshore Plus that more promises have been all they’ve received from Raymond. The company reportedly even offered to settle the debt, interest-free, at the two-year mark, an offer turned down by Raymond. Now the interest rate is 20% and the debt has nearly doubled to just under $200,000. Still, Raymond apparently ignores his obligations. This might be what Raymond refers to when he says his slogan is “Principals Over Politics.” Well, principals are not on an equal footing compared to honesty, morals, truthfulness and integrity because principals can be flawed. Pastor John - as he’s known by many - set some sort of a political advertising record for not only the size of his November 23rd mailout but also in offering the least amount of substantive material by a political candidate in recent memory. The 12-page slick was so full of fluff that the My Pillow people should take notice. Missing from this piece were “endorsements” from Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, Congressman Steve Scalise, St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister and Slidell Chief of Police Randy Fandal, along with at least one other prominent business owner that had appeared in earlier mailers. Apparently Raymond thinks taking a stealth selfie with a legitimate citizen is an endorsement until he’s read the riot act. In fact, there was only one local
