NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART

Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for many favors. This time I ask you this special one. Take it, dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your heart, where your Father sees it. Then, in His merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times, for three days and your favor will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer.

Tony’s Take TRUMP PLANS TO CUT GOVERNMENT WASTEDOGGIE STYLE

We’re less than six weeks away from what should be the most invasive move against federal government waste in the country’s history. The newly created Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, promises to surgically remove more than a trillion dollars in wasted expenses.

Led by the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, and political heavyweight Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and former Presidential candidate, thousands of federal workers are hastily updating their resumes, expecting to be let go as the pair dive into the myriad departments and scenarios that makes up Political Underground Washington D.C.

Musk has already walked the walk by eliminating nearly 80% of Twitter’s staff of 7,000 two years ago when he took over the social media company and renamed it “X”. These two men do not fear any type of repercussions as they do their work, aided by a relatively small and fiscally responsible cadre of workers.

This action can be compared to the visceral enjoyment most people feel when they are allowed to destroy something that will be replaced or rebuilt. It should follow the well-worn script of watching the good guys kicking butt against an overwhelming and bullying opponent. And the majority of Americans will be cheering as they watch.

Good for them! Someone has been needed for decades to stop the proliferation of countless departments, sub-departments, inane studies, lazy and absentee federal workers whose jobs are duplicated, etc. Dozens of huge office buildings are empty or nearly so because most of their residents are working from home, if they work at all.

But I don’t like the name. “Doge” sounds like a British or French title, perhaps a leftist car. I like “Doggie” better (DOG -E). And with their efficient actions to cut costs, turnabout is fair play as a pair of men and their staff plan to “screw the pooch” of federal largess unchecked. There will be howls in the bars, restaurants, clubs and boardrooms of D.C. but who cares? The elitists and Karens of the District will now begin to understand that their reality rent has come due NOW and there will be few places to hide within the Beltway.

Expect to pay anywhere from 10 to 35% less for a home in these areas as the multi-million dollar consumer real estate market takes a dive. And if you really want a bargain, well, the new administration will have millions of dollars worth of hardly used office buildings for sale. Expect to see a ton of repossessed BMWs, Mercedes, Jaguars and Cadillacs or watch as many of their owners turn into Uber drivers, uber vehicles now serving the less-than-uber class of Washington’s Swampers. Amazing. Real Swampers live off the land; Washington Swampers live off the ignorance of everyday Americans. The Swamp’s not the problem; its inhabitants are. That’s about to change drastically as thousands of bureaucrats are going to find out. Perhaps they could migrate to Sanctuary Cities, if there are any left, and get a room in a building where they would remain and pay for the privilege. Or get a real job, helping to locate illegal residents and either deporting the dan-

CHRISTMAS TREE SEASON

Poinsettias are the number one holiday plant in the United States besides the Christmas tree, if you still consider a Christmas tree a true plant after the root system has been removed. They are commonly given and received as gifts at this time of year. We adorn our houses, line our mantles, and showcase their beauty to our house guests. Whether you have one now or will receive one later, let’s review a basic care plan so that your poinsettia looks good throughout the season.

Handle poinsettias with care while you shop them at the nursery, transport them in a vehicle, or hand them off to a friend. Most retailers will provide a plastic sleeve to protect them in transit. Poinsettias are extremely brittle. The stems and branches will break with the slightest brush. Many of the containers used to grow poinsettias include an internal plastic frame to help protect the plant. Leave this apparatus intact because removal may cause damage. If a stem is broken, a white sap (latex) will extrude from the wound. Handle with care because some people are allergic to this substance.

The best location for a poinsettia is a bright, sunny room. Choose the brightest room available while also paying attention to accessibility. Refrain from placing a poinsettia in the back of the room where it is hard to see and get to because it will be easily forgotten. For plants placed in a window, be sure that none of the foliage physically touches the windowpane. Also, avoid placing poinsettias in areas near air conditioning vents. Moving air and differences in temperature can cause added stress.

The poinsettia plant should be watered when the soil becomes dry to the touch. It is recommended to physically check the soil in a few areas to learn whether the plant needs to be watered at all. When the soil becomes dry to the touch add enough water so that water comes out of the drainage holes. Use clear vinyl saucers to prevent excess water from dripping all over the place. In some situations, it may be easier to take the plant outside to water it and then bring it back in after it has had sufficient time to drain. A lot of folks use the “ice cube watering hack” with great success by placing an ice cube in the container every week. As the ice cube melts, the water seeps into the soil. Larger plants may need more than one ice cube. Combine this method with physically checking the soil and watching for wilting leaves to learn the best way to water your new poinsettia plants.

Hope you all had a memorable and Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends. We had Thanksgiving at my daughter’s house and it was wonderful! I enjoy having it at her house now. I usually make their favorite side dishes and bring them, while they cook the turkey, ham, and other things. And when I get tired I can say my goodbyes and head to the house while leaving them to their football games and such. It works out perfectly. My youngest grandchildren are now 25 and 19 so I really don’t need to entertain them.

I had a bunch of 2 inch gingerbread men in my stash. What better time to paint those up, with Christmas just a few short weeks away. I knew I had to paint 3 of those for my granddaughter, Carlea’ and her 2 best friends at college. Carlea’ had introduced them to decorating their dance team bags with holiday pins. They love the idea, and I usually get texts, emails, or phone calls requesting more pins from the other team members. And after getting those three done, I still had a lot left. I decided to paint the rest up and do a little “Random Act of Kindness” by handing out the little gingerbread pins to people who looked like they were having a bad day or just needed a little pick me up (store cashier, the lady in front of me, the bank teller, etc anyone whose eyes were sad). It really did bring a smile to their faces and it gave my heart a warm feeling. They are truly surprised when given something that is unexpected. I am going to see if I can get some other things painted and given out, it is so much fun to see the Surprise on their faces!!!

Well what will your next project be? Mine...Not really sure. But I know it will be fun! Merry Christmas!!! Sincerely, Paula Johnson YOU CAN PICK UP OR WE CAN DELIVER!

Well, the collegiate regular season is over, we have our teams set for the playoffs and teams have been paired up for all the bowl games. The transfer portal is about to open up but before that we had a National Signing Day or should I say the Collegiate Football Auction.

This was not a day like in years past when coaches and recruits bonded so that the choice can be solely made on the connections. Sure, there were some recruits who actually followed their hearts, but most went to the highest bidder. Sound familiar right? No this was no signing day but a player auction where some teams out bid others with bags of cash and not on how they could develop them. However, with that said LSU still had a great day and the fact that most of their commits came from Louisiana or had been pledged for a long time meant that some of that old school tradition was not lost on these kids. SWEEPING CHANGES CONTINUE AS BROOME GETS VACUUMED

In what might have been a stunning upset six months ago, crime-weary citizens voted out another arrogant and inefficient Democrat from local public office December 7th.

Coach Sid Edwards, a beloved but little-known principal and former coach at Istrouma High, secured 56% of the East Baton Rouge voters as he won the Mayor-President seat by more than 11,000 votes. Despite Sharon Weston-Broome’s support from former Governor John Bel Edwards and defeated candidate Ted James, Edwards pulled off an upset that should have any remaining “woke” city administrations in Louisiana wide awake today.

Led by overwhelming support from separatist city-in-the-making St. George residents, Edwards built a coalition of old school political backing and a diverse population tired of watching Baton Rouge rival New Orleans in crime, violence and decay. Even New Orleans Diva-Mayor Latoya Cantrelle took a moment from her vital worldwide journeys (on behalf of The Big Easy) to realize that she will be fortunate to survive her final term without some type of political or criminal backlash.

Ir remains to be seen the priorities of the Mayor-President-elect in Baton Rouge as his honeymooon period is under way but most Baton Rouge residents are feeling the same type of relief and calmness that the country felt just over one month ago.

LSU TO MEET BAYLOR IN TEXAS BOWL........YAWN

WHOOP DE DO! LSU plays Baylor in Houston on New Years Eve. They get to face Dave Aranda, who once upon a time was a defensive guru at LSU....today, not so much.

The 8 and 4 Bears are on a six-game win streak but its Baylor. We haven’t played them since 1985 in the Bluebonnet Bowl, another rancid postseason venue. It’s Houston, they want tickets sold starting at $85 and frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

At least its not Florida again but Houston, home of Los Angeles-style traffic and the excitement of what?

I’ll probably go if I receive my credentials but even then.......?????? NRG Stadium. No Reason to Go

Houston? The fourth-largest glob of suburbia in America. Wow. Be still, my heart. The Cleveland of the American Southwest. Thousands will spend millions to see the Tigers play the team from the town most known for as the home of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Think about that. Hey. You might even recognize some of the starters who will play and avoid the transfer portal or sitting out for personal reasons.

Last New Years Eve in Tampa???? Bring it on! Great town, great NFL Stadium. Great hospitality.

I could be wrong but I may never know. Baylor in Houston. Bet they gots swell deals at the local Motel 6s and Denny’s. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
