THE EXCHANGE

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Dear colleagues,

There have been many exciting projects and announcements across the Group since our last update in the Summer.

One that has a significant impact on bringing together our teams – Care, Commercial and Consulting - and our Business Support Services under one roof is our HQ relocation project. The relocation aligns with our ambition to enhance cohesion, boost efficiency, and provide better support for our business. It will also optimise collaborative working and streamline communication, integrating teams working independently from other functions and enabling us to support you, our clients, and customers better. Following Board approval, we plan to move our head office from 280 Fifers Lane to Amsterdam Place, adjacent to Norwich Airport, in Easter 2024. Our new head office will adjoin the current site.

As we strive for innovation, we’ve also introduced a simplified screening process for new work candidates.

WELLBEING TRAINING

Introducing our latest e-learning courses, “Mental Health & Wellbeing Awareness,” designed to foster a culture of support and understanding. Two courses are available; one for staff and another for supervisors and managers. These courses delve into topics such as understanding the connection between mental health and job performance, recognising signs of poor mental health, effectively communicating about mental health in a work environment, and nurturing a mind-positive workplace that uplifts both individuals and teams. You can access the courses on these links:

The system allows our hiring managers to provide more support with completing applications, helping us get the right people into the right roles quicker, strengthening our workforce and offering to clients.

Similarly, accessing Employee Self Service has also been streamlined, enabling staff to access their pay, sickness and learning information more efficiently. For more information, click here.

These are all positive steps on our ongoing ‘One Group’ transformation journey as we constantly seek ways to evolve and build a sustainable future. I’m excited to see what further developments will arise in the coming months.

SCHOOL CHILDREN FLOURISH WITH NORSE CATERING

Congratulations to our Catering Team, who were winners at the first Flourish Awards 2023. Flourish is a Norfolk Children’s Services initiative to make Norfolk the best place for children and young people to grow up and thrive.

Norse Catering was nominated in the ‘Understood’ category, following their pledge to consult with school children on what they want to see on school menus and help empower them to make positive choices about their health.

By making student councils an integral part of their primary school menu development, feedback is collated centrally and shared with the menu development and promotions team so they can see ways to accommodate requests, look for patterns and consider ideas from the school children.

THE GREAT NORSE TIDY UP BIG

Staff from across the Group donned high-vis jackets and took to the streets armed with waste bags and litter pickers for our fifth Norse Tidy Up event earlier this month. Our fantastic team of 113 waste warriors collected 150 bags of general waste and 56 bags of recycling, making a massive difference to their local communities.

Participation (Highest number of participants) - Support Services, Fifers’ Lane

Environmental Impact (Highest number of litter bags collected) – Newport Norse

Community Involvement (Local partnerships for continued clean-up initiatives) – South West Norse and The Meadows Housing with Care

Thank you to all our trash-busting teams!

TRIBUTES

Norse Group would like to pay tribute to members of staff who have sadly passed away in recent months.

Kathleen Colyer, Passenger Assistant, will be very much missed by all her colleagues at Medway Norse Transport.

Andy Houghton, Maintenance Manager, will also be missed. Speaking of their Manager, colleagues within TFM said: “Andy was a selfless rock for us all. His dedication to the team’s success was unwavering, his guidance irreplaceable, and his kindness immeasurable. In a world that sometimes feels cold and disconnected, Andy was a warm presence that brought us together.”

As always, we would really like to hear from you, so please send your feedback to the senior team by emailing NorseExchange@norsegroup.co.uk, or contact me directly at any time.
