DYNAMIC RISK ASSESSMENT - H&S BULLETIN
All business areas within the Norse group will have defined risk assessments which focus on their own operational areas. These will look at the following 5 areas:
Identifying the hazards
Assessing the risks
Controlling the risks
Recording your findings
Reviewing the controls
If a task you normally undertake includes additional factors that have not been previously considered, then there will be a requirement to perform a ‘Dynamic Risk Assessment’
A proactive approach to continually assess hazards and risks within our specific areas of work will enable us to identify any change in circumstances that may impact on our own safety and the safety of those around us.
The procedure for dynamic risk assessment and the tool box talks for dynamic risk assessment can be found on the G-drive under SHEQ Health and Safety Procedures.
A good example of this requirement would be the need for a dynamic risk assessment when agile working:
Always assess your workstation and consider those elements that have changed from your regular workstation, i.e., are you using a laptop? Are you working with a nonadjustable chair? If these or other elements have changed or could change then you need to consider the risk and how you can control those risks.
The principles of dynamic risk assessment means that this is largely a mental exercise that allows you to quickly assess and record those elements that are uncontrolled. HR and Health and Safety guidance is available for this process.
Always inform your line Manager of any elements that may need to be addressed.
