NOW BOARDING

Allegiant introduces a new onboard luxury for travelers — Altus Sol wine

Allegiant travelers already know that they can count on the airline for low-cost, nonstop flights, but now the company is offering passengers something new to enjoy en route to their favorite destination: its own wine.

Driven by a commitment to innovation and enhancing the onboard experience, Allegiant has reimagined the wine experience from the ground up with its custom wine, Altus Sol. With an industry-wide decline of the once standard 187-ml wine bottle and many vendors shifting toward formats that don’t resonate with Allegiant’s passengers, like cans and Tetra cartons, Allegiant knew it needed a more sustainable and versatile solution. That led the airline to Sonoma Bespoke, a leading wine company in Napa that specializes in custom wine solutions, to collaborate on their own brand of wine to sell onboard.

“Allegiant focuses on leisure destinations, and our wines can kick off any vacation,” said Max Franks, CEO of Sonoma Bespoke.

Meaning “high sun” in Latin, the name Altus Sol was chosen as a nod to the sunburst on an Allegiant airplane tail and the experience of looking out an airplane window and seeing the sun high above the clouds. Passengers can currently choose from two varietals: a Cabernet Sauvignon with extra notes of cigar-box aromas or a crisp Pinot Grigio. Both were specifically curated for enjoyment at 10,000 feet and higher.

“There are a lot of subtle things happening at altitude — cabin pressure and dry, thin air impact your sense of smell, and your perception of sweet and salty are suppressed,” said Donny Sebastiani, chairman

of Sonoma Bespoke. “So, we try to make wines that balance those factors out: we select lots that are perfumy and aromatic, as well as wines from riper, sweeter grapes that add a fruit-forward component.”

Both Altus Sol wines are made from blends of different grapes found around coastal California. While there may only be two varietals at the moment, Allegiant’s new wine program was designed to be dynamic.

“We are only limited by our own creativity,” Sebastiani said. “We look forward to the next generation of Altus Sol wines!”

ELEVATING A WINE LABEL

A lot of thought went into designing Altus Sol’s look, which was a collaborative effort led by Allegiant’s senior brand specialist/ graphic designer, Cara Holt.

Inspired by just how refined the winemaking process was after touring Sonoma Bespoke, Holt wanted Altus Sol’s labels to reflect that same craftsmanship and care. Approximately a dozen concepts were considered, with the final design standing out for being “sophisticated and subtle, with just the right balance of story and function.”

“The Altus Sol labels are elegant and layered with meaning,” Holt said. “At the center is a sun motif inspired by Allegiant’s sunburst tail, paired with a gold foil accent that shines like the sun rising over the horizon. The Pinot Grigio label has a warm parchment tone, while the Cabernet Sauvignon label is a rich navy. Together, they reflect the passage of time from day into night.”

Just as important as the visuals, Holt noted that the labels are also water resistant, making them practical for use during in-flight service.

FROM BIKINI BOTTOM TO GLOBAL SUPERSTAR

SpongeBob SquarePants returns to theaters this holiday season with an all-new movie

On Dec. 19, SpongeBob SquarePants returns to theaters nationwide with his fourth theatrical film, “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.” Allegiant’s nonstoplife caught up with the president of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation, Ramsey Naito, to talk about the highly anticipated movie as well as SpongeBob’s impact on pop culture and what’s next for the beloved character.

What can you tell our readers about SpongeBob’s latest big-screen adventure, and what made the story more suitable for the big screen versus Nickelodeon’s longrunning “SpongeBob SquarePants” TV series?

When we make a “SpongeBob” movie, we always start with a big idea — something epic and more than what we typically do

Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation

in the series. A theatrical release gives us a great opportunity to expand the world, introduce new characters and dive into stories and ideas that we’ve never explored before in episodes. In the past, we’ve saved King Neptune’s crown, the Krabby Patty secret formula and even SpongeBob’s pet snail, Gary. For “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” we dove deeper into the backstories of favorite characters

like Mr. Krabs and the Flying Dutchman to tell the origin story of the Dutchman’s legendary curse. And this time, we are also saving SpongeBob himself, and to do so, we must go where no Sponge has gone before — to the depths of the ocean floor known as “The Underworld.” This allows us to take viewers into a whole new environment.

How would you say this movie compares to SpongeBob’s previous films?

This movie is actually my favorite SpongeBob film because it truly captures the essence of what both longtime and new fans love about the character; this film reflects his iconic status perfectly. People are always excited to see him, and he always brings a smile to everyone’s face.

What was the process like creating “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants?”

The “SpongeBob” process is creatively inspiring and definitely challenging at times! But what makes the process so rewarding is the incredible “SpongeBob” team and voice talent behind it, who are true artists and approach every day with their artistic optimism, great sense of humor and love for these characters.

Do you have a favorite scene in this film that you’re especially excited for audiences to see?

Some pretty big names are working on “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” including comedian George Lopez, actress Regina Hall and rapper Ice Spice. What’s the process like finding the right talent? Are they all “SpongeBob” fans?

“SpongeBob” movies have always featured some pretty iconic talent, like David Hasselhoff, Antonio Banderas and Keanu Reeves. In this upcoming film, it’s Mark Hamill. When we spoke with Mark about voicing the role of the Flying Dutchman, he was really excited. He knew he could go big with the character and have fun. He was a blast.

Sometimes we do cast people who are huge “SpongeBob” fans and have connections with the show. But at the end of the day, it’s really about finding talent who bring authenticity, whether it’s their voice, owning the character or their sense of humor. That’s what makes performances feel real and memorable.

My favorite scene in the movie is when SpongeBob is running to jump on a giant roller coaster ride, which he is finally big enough to do. He’s always dreamt of getting on the big-boy roller coaster. But when the moment arrives, he’s still scared and his fears start to play out in an over-the-top and hilarious fantasy sequence, which ultimately stops him in his tracks and makes you question: is he big enough? It’s emotionally relatable and hilarious all at once. And the best part is that we get to cheer him on every step of the way.

How much has the animation evolved since SpongeBob’s beginnings on TV?

“SpongeBob” has always played with a wide range of animation styles, from classic 2D to stop motion and more recently, CGI. In the early days, the technology behind CGI was a tough fit with the show’s hand-drawn style. But over time, CGI animation is a powerful medium and the tools provide for endless creative expression. The series, which is now in its 16th season, is produced as a 2D animated show, which gives fans an original feel that they know and love, while the movies are traditionally CGI because of the palette, depth and cinematic qualities it delivers. It’s a great balance.

Continued on next page

being just a kids’ show. People who grew up with it are now watching it with their kids. I’ve always loved this.

Culturally, “SpongeBob” has had a huge impact. It’s more than a show. You see it shared in memes, quotes, merchandise, theme parks and hotels, music, even Broadway. I once heard that “SpongeBob” memes are shared every few seconds on the internet. That says a lot about how “SpongeBob” is literally a part of people’s lives.

What’s your favorite thing about SpongeBob?

SpongeBob is my favorite character because he reminds me so much of Steve Hillenburg, the incredible creator behind the show. His optimism and unique way of seeing the world are all reflections of Steve himself. Every day SpongeBob wakes up, greets the day and is completely ready for anything. He captures the spirit of the show perfectly.

What I love the most about SpongeBob is that his good nature is the center of everything. He’s a soulful character, and it’s that blend of innocence and imagination that makes him so beloved. Anytime you bring up SpongeBob with anyone, the reaction is an incredible smile. It’s that connection that fans of all ages want to be a part of.

Any thoughts on Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy or Plankton?

I love all the characters in “SpongeBob SquarePants” because they remind me of my own community, my friends and my family. Each one feels relatable in their own special way. What makes “SpongeBob” so special is that every character brings something unique to the show and the movies, in personality and in design.

SpongeBob is full of pure joy and optimistic. Patrick is the perfect BFF. Squidward is the lovable cynic. Mr. Krabs is money obsessed, but always has a soft spot. Sandy is the voice of reason and Plankton is the lovable character of envy (laughs).

But I have a special love for Gary, SpongeBob’s lovable pet, who is my all-time favorite secondary character. He might not say much, but says everything with a meow. Their relationship reminds me of the one I have with my dog, Gigi.

SpongeBob’s success over the past couple of decades has led to plenty of “SpongeBob SquarePants” merchandise, a Broadway musical and even some fun rides — including SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, where Allegiant is headquartered. What do you hope is next for the character?

SpongeBob is the centerpiece of our franchise strategy as we continue to expand the worlds of our characters and grow our global footprint even further. It’s a property that wins on every platform because he continues to resonate with fans of all ages around the world and across every platform. He’s truly done it all!

So, what’s next? Telling new stories in the “SpongeBob” universe is key for us. That includes developing more movies for Paramount+, Nickelodeon and streaming platforms like Netflix, where both “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” and “Plankton: The Movie” were hits.

On the theatrical side, we love expanding into new settings to keep the visuals

and stories fresh, just like we did in “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.” And we’re continuing to look at exciting new ways to create immersive experiences that let fans engage with SpongeBob and the residents of Bikini Bottom. Anything we do around SpongeBob has a great opportunity to speak to generations of kids and families globally.

Finally, what makes “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” a must-see film for fans this holiday season?

“SpongeBob” is the perfect holiday movie for everyone! It’s a great adventure that will have you laughing so hard it hurts. The new world of the deep sea is bedazzling on the big screen, and most importantly, the theme will warm your heart, especially around the holidays. This film delivers a touching message: being brave isn’t about being the toughest person in the room — it’s about having the courage to face your fears and lead with your heart. It reminds me of one of SpongeBob’s most memorable quotes: “Always follow your heart, unless your heart is bad with directions.”

CHEC PLEASE!

Local organization leads Charlotte Harbor conservation

In the beautiful natural areas of Charlotte Harbor, an organization has been hard at work for years to maintain and expand the few remaining wild places of the harbor and introduce them to the community at large.

Since 1987, the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC) has been dedicated to providing environmental education, recreation and conservation efforts to locals and visitors to the area. CHEC leads a variety of educational programming, including engaging lectures and film screenings, and outdoor excursions, each designed to inform the community about Florida’s precious ecosystems and the wildlife that call them home.

One of CHEC’s more hands-on experiences is a workshop on vertical oyster farming. Volunteers will aid the Environmental Center in establishing vertical farms utilizing discarded shells from local restaurants. The shells will eventually come to host the beautiful bivalves, whose filter feeding helps keep the harbor clean.

Another popular excursion operates out of Cedar Point, a gorgeous park that CHEC has been actively involved in managing since 1995. Knowledgeable guides lead intrepid amateur conservationists into the seagrass meadows of Lemon Bay, and use dipnets and buckets to explore the critically important habitat and the creatures that live there. While there’s no shortage of marine life swimming through the seagrass, tour goers may be surprised to find the occasional bald eagle soaring above.

The center’s physical location is at the Alligator Creek Preserve, within Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park. The staff

lead free tours, but guests are welcome to explore on their own. The Preserve is home to the largest walk-in butterfly enclosure in Charlotte County, where CHEC grows wildflowers and helps facilitate the proliferation of the often imperiled pollinator.

Whether you’re in the mood for a little romance, some holiday cheer or you just want to see some wildlife, King Fisher Fleet is sure to have a sightseeing cruise for everyone visiting Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach this winter.

Located at Fishermen’s Village, the family-run tour company has been an area favorite for more than 40 years. Although best known for its romantic 90-minute Sunset Cruise that takes guests out into Charlotte Harbor to look for dolphins and watch the sunset over the horizon, King Fisher Fleet offers a variety of affordable excursions. These include 90-minute narrated Harbor Tours that take passengers out onto some of the same waters that were explored by Juan Ponce de León more than 500 years ago, as well as full-day cruises to Cabbage Key.

During the month of December, guests can book a Christmas Light Canal Cruise to tour the residential canals in Punta Gorda and view the festive lights and decorations placed on the houses, seawalls and docks. The hour-long Christmas Light Canal Cruise can either be booked by itself or after a 60-minute Sunset Cruise. A 90-minute New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise is available, too, that includes a champagne toast at midnight as passengers watch Fishermen’s Village’s dazzling fireworks display.

Full-day cruises to Boca Grande are available as well from December through April, where guests can go ashore for 3 hours to explore the island and enjoy the beach. January

THE JOYS OF BRADENTON BEACH

Unwind and unplug at one of Florida’s favorite beach towns

If a tropical escape is calling, set your sights on the Bradenton Beach area on Florida’s laid-back Gulf Coast. Just a quick hop from Sarasota–Bradenton International Airport, this 16-mile stretch of sun-drenched shoreline feels worlds away from the bustle of larger beach towns.

The region’s motto — “Real, Authentic Florida” — couldn’t be more fitting. Here you will find a collection of small, interconnected beach communities, each with its own charm: Anna Maria Island to the north, Holmes Beach in the center and Bradenton Beach to the south — which encompasses Cortez Beach and Coquina Beach. Pack light, because here the pace slows, flip-flops replace heels and blissful relaxation is an unspoken rule. Sunrise beach walks, sunset cocktails and starlit evenings set the leisurely tone.

Of course, Gulf waters are the main draw. Spend the day basking on powdery sand, or hop aboard the Gulf Islands

Ferry from downtown Bradenton to Anna Maria Island and watch bottlenose dolphins jumping in the boat’s wake. Shell collectors love Coquina Beach, while adventurers get thrills on kayak or paddleboard excursions out on the Gulf.

For waterfront accommodations, Tortuga Inn Beach Resort sits across from the Bradenton Beach gulf front, and the boutique Compass Hotel overlooks Anna Maria Island Marina. There are plenty of cozy inns, vintage cottages and vacation home rentals that can put you just steps from the shoreline.

Beyond the beach, nature lovers can explore shaded trails at De Soto National Memorial, commemorating Hernando de Soto’s 1539 expedition, or wander through the lush Palma Sola Botanical Park. Anglers will enjoy Cortez Fishing Village, the oldest continuously operated fishing village in Florida, home to popular water view eateries such as Star Fish Company.

Dining in Bradenton is a celebration of Gulf Coast flavors. Feast on Chilean Seabass at the Beach House Waterfront Restaurant on Bradenton Beach or head to nearby crowd-favorite Bridge Tender Inn Dockside & Tiki Bar, where the party keeps going with drinks, dinner and music. Nearby Bridge Street buzzes with boutiques, live music and open-air patios. Stay close to all the action with a suite or spacious room at Bridgewalk Resort.

A TIMELESS TREASURE

Nostalgia meets modern sophistication at The Vinoy

On New Year’s Eve, a beloved St. Pete landmark will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Located just steps away from Beach Drive along the downtown St. Pete waterfront, The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection continues to be one of Southwest Florida’s most luxurious resorts. Since opening in 1925, the historic property has not only welcomed U.S. presidents, Hollywood elite and luxury travelers, but also served as military housing in the 1940s. In recent years, it has been lovingly restored to its renowned pink prominence while continuing to evolve to meet the needs of today’s guests.

“The Vinoy’s enduring success lies in its timeless elegance and its rare ability to balance historic charm with modern luxury,” said Alice Land, director of sales and marketing for The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection. “With elegant guest rooms and suites, a championship golf course, on-site marina, full-service spa, Har-Tru tennis courts and pet-friendly accommodations — all within walking distance

of shops and restaurants — the resort delivers both character and contemporary comforts. Combined with convenient access from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, The Vinoy stands as a living landmark that continues to offer a complete and elevated guest experience.”

The Vinoy completed the initial phase of a comprehensive renovation in 2023 that included a redesign of its 354 residential-style guest rooms and suites. Influenced by Florida’s coastal topography, the rooms now feature such striking details as floors that transition from wood to custom, blue-patterned carpeting, presenting the look of sand meeting the sea. The Vinoy also introduced the only Fifth Avenue Club located in a resort on Florida’s Gulf Coast in 2024, so fashionistas can book a personalized session with a Saks Stylist to spruce up their wardrobe.

Several new food and beverage concepts opened to the public in 2023 as well, including the chic French patisserie Lottie and the Latin American-inspired poolside restaurant Parasol. Additionally, The Vinoy welcomed Elliott Aster to its culinary portfolio this past May. Led by Michelin-starred chef Lee Wolen, the refined restaurant specializes in wood-fired steaks and sophisticated Italian dishes.

Fun Fact: In 2023, The Vinoy joined Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection — a global collection of distinctive independent hotels known for providing guests with an experience that’s “Exactly Like Nothing Else.”

Not to forget its rich history, one of The Vinoy’s most delightful additions actually pays tribute to the iconic resort. In 2023, the property began hosting a History Tour & High Tea experience every Thursday through Sunday, from 2 until 4 p.m., that’s open to the public. Priced at $140 per person, the experience begins with a one-hour, docent-led history tour that covers the resort’s storied past while showcasing its Mediterranean Revival architecture. Guests will then get to enjoy afternoon tea service on the property’s mezzanine, where they can savor a selection of fresh-baked scones, perfectly cut finger sandwiches, delectable pastries and loose-leaf teas while being served “vintage style” with white gloves and 1920s silverware.

Given how much The Vinoy offers guests, it’s easy to see why it has remained one Southwest Florida’s most beloved resorts over the past century. Although there may be plenty to experience nearby, the timeless property is truly a vacation destination unto itself. thevinoy.com

A PICTURE-PERFECT DESTINATION A PICTURE-PERFECT DESTINATION

Photo opportunities abound in St. Pete-Clearwater

These days, travelers are always in search of the perfect photo opportunity to share on social media. Luckily, visitors to St. PeteClearwater never have to go far to take a cool picture, as the destination has plenty of social media-worthy attractions and experiences.

Schooner Clearwater’s sailing vessel offers passengers the perfect “I’m the king (or queen) of the world!” photo opportunity

Fun Fact: A recognized wildlife sanctuary, Fort De Soto Park is frequented by wildlife photographers — especially during the winter months when a wide variety of wintering shorebirds call the park home.

At Folly Farm Nature Preserve in Safety Harbor, guests can take a photo with a 17-foot-tall wooden gnome named Gnomeo. An homage to Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s famous wooden troll sculptures, Gnomeo was created by artists Chris Dotson and Kumpa Tawornprom to have a natural look that blended in with the 10-acre park’s towering trees and native gardens. Rumor has it that if visitors stare at Gnomeo long enough, his head appears to move! After visitors take their photo with Gnomeo, they can snap some selfies in the preserve’s butterfly garden or with the farm animals in its barn. cityofsafetyharbor.com/962/folly-farm-nature-preserve

St. Pete’s oldest living museum, Sunken Gardens, is another popular place to take photographs. The 100-year-old roadside attraction is home not only to 19 Chilean flamingos that guests can take selfies with, but also some of the oldest royal palms in Pinellas County. Boasting more than 50,000 exotic tropical plants and birds from around the world, the 4-acre botanical garden is truly one of St. PeteClearwater’s most Instagrammable attractions. sunkengardens.org

Fort De Soto Park in Tierra Verde offers guests a wealth of photo opportunities, too, including a great shot from its East Beach across the water with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the background. Probably its most popular photo opportunity, though, can be found near its Gulf Pier, where visitors can take photos with the park’s namesake 19th century fort. Although the fort never saw combat, it played an important role in coastal defense during the short-lived Spanish-American War by being the first fort of its kind to be disguised as a sand dune. Visitors can still explore the fort’s unlit rooms and take photos with its four 12-inch M1890-MI mortars and two 3-inch Driggs-Seabury rapid-fire guns on display. pinellas.gov/parks/fort-desoto-park

Of course, no trip to St. Pete-Clearwater is complete without taking some photographs out on the water. Schooner Clearwater offers 2-hour Day Sail and Sunset Sail cruises aboard its custom-built, steel staysail schooner that take guests past Coachman Park and the mansions of Clearwater Bay out into the gulf. Wildlife sightings are common, so passengers will want to make sure that their camera phones are fully charged so they don’t miss out on taking any photographs of the dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, sharks or fish that may be swimming near the boat. During the winter months, many migratory birds inhabit “Bird Island” near Clearwater Beach Marina as well, providing guests with some additional photo opportunities. schoonerclearwater.com

A DOLPHIN’S PURPOSE

Clearwater Marine Aquarium continues to honor the legacy of its most famous resident

Winter the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin may have passed away in 2021, but the spirit of the “Dolphin Tale” star lives on thanks to an inspirational new exhibit at her former home.

In June, Clearwater Marine Aquarium opened “Tales of Winter the Dolphin” on the fourth floor of its Visitor Center. The exhibit follows Winter’s life from her rescue in 2005 and the loss of her tail fluke to the invention of her groundbreaking prosthetic tail. Visitors can view a life-sized replica of the crab trap that entangled Winter in Florida’s Mosquito Lagoon, explore realistic prosthetic tail models and learn how innovation and science came together to support her recovery. Additionally, fans can see mementos from Winter’s life on display, like her favorite rubber duck, and props from the “Dolphin Tale” movies, including an animatronic dolphin.

Those visiting the aquarium can also see four female rough-toothed dolphins that were brought into the facility in June. Deemed non-releasable by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, three of

AN EXPERIENCE THAT’S OUT OF THIS WORLD

Blast off this winter to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Originally built so astronauts’ families could observe the space center’s operations, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has become one of Central Florida’s top attractions since launching in 1967.

Situated on approximately 70 acres of developed land in Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex brings space exploration to life through real spacecraft experiences and daily interactions with spaceflight experts. Visitors can see the orbiter spacecraft Space Shuttle Atlantis on display and strap in for a simulation of its 8-and-a-half-minute ascent into orbit; visit the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame; and possibly even witness a live rocket liftoff.

From Dec. 13 through 24, and 26 through 30, guests can also enjoy the seasonal event Holidays in Space with their general admission ticket. Now in its 14th year, the after-dark spectacular features plenty of family-friendly attractions and activities, including festive photo ops in front of giant astronaut nutcrackers, holiday NASA logos and a 50-foot-tall tree.

“There’s nothing like Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, especially in the winter months when the crisp weather and holiday spirit create the perfect backdrop for exploration,” said Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s chief operating officer, Therrin Protze. “This season, visitors can enjoy our annual Holidays in Space celebration, where dazzling lights, a new

drone show and festive experiences bring NASA’s mission to life in a whole new way. Whether it’s seeing a real Saturn V rocket, walking beneath the wings of Space Shuttle Atlantis or exploring our brandnew attraction, The Gantry at LC-39, every visit this winter promises wonder and unforgettable memories.”

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s newest must-see attraction, The Gantry at LC-39 opened in July. Nestled within the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, the immersive, four-story attraction bridges humanity’s spacefaring achievements with the natural environment. Boasting an unprecedented 360-degree view of the launchpads at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, it’s home to NASA’s largest Earth Information Center, which showcases changing planetary conditions through interactive galleries and stunning visuals. Guests visiting The Gantry at LC-39 can also stand beneath an impressive full-scale rocket engine model as it comes to life during a simulated static test fire. When the countdown reaches zero, the engine roars with sound, dynamic lighting and cooling mist, creating a multisensory experience for visitors to enjoy.

The Gantry at LC-39 joins countless other can’t-miss experiences at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, like seeing Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard’s moon-dustcovered suit on display, walking through the Rocket Garden and attending an Astronaut Encounter presentation with a veteran NASA astronaut. Holiday Blues

Celebrate the season in Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains

When the holidays hit the city of Asheville, NC, the mountain city is illuminated with lights and cheer. The streets are lined with decorations, the mountains topped with fresh powder, and the smell of gingerbread and holiday spice flits about the air. The whole city celebrates, from the quaint coffee shops to the large estates and institutions that helped put the city on the map.

The best way to see as much of the city as possible is on Gray Line Tours’ Holly Jolly Trolley. A historic red trolley lit up with festive decorations transports riders through downtown Asheville and the

Montford and Grove Park neighborhoods to view stunning holiday displays. All the while, the trolley plays festive music, tour guides regale passengers with stories, and even the occasional caroler stops by. graylineasheville.com

Last minute gift purchases are best made at the Grove Arcade. The shopping center is decked out in festive displays, transforming the space into something akin to a German Christmas market. Outside, a huge evergreen is adorned with festive decorations, while inside, string lights criss-cross about overhead, drawing eyes to the stunning skylight above. grovearcade.com

Not to be outdone, the North Carolina Arboretum does its fair share of tree decorating. From November 15 to January 4, the arboretum hosts Winter Lights, an annual event where the grounds play host to an open-air walk-through light show made from over one million lights. The pinnacle of the experience is a 50 foot tall tree, aglow with colors of the holidays. Festive food and entertainment round out the event to make for a truly unforgettable experience. ncarboretum.org

Asheville’s crown jewel, The Biltmore Estate invites guests back once again for Christmas at Biltmore, a two month long celebration where the entire estate is decked out in holiday decor. Over 100 hand-decorated trees line the grounds, and inside the estate, more than 25,000 ornaments and 100,000 holiday lights shimmer in the hallways, parlors and bedrooms of America’s largest private residence. In order to best guarantee a successful partnership between pooch and person, it is of utmost importance that service animals in training (aka adorable puppies) receive the highest quality training possible — sometimes in unfamiliar environments, such as the airport.

Just as an airport can present unique challenges for travelers, it is a new and hard-to-replicate environment for the service animals. This is why we work diligently with our operations team to identify opportunities for handlers to bring the dogs to the airport for a trial run.

Earlier this year, we teamed up with Dogs Inc. and St. Pete-Clearwater International

Airport to host a special event helping guidedogs-in-training practice real-world skills.

From navigating TSA checkpoints to boarding an aircraft and even staying focused at a busy baggage carousel, these future service dogs gained the confidence they need to support their partners every step of the way.

The pups in training start learning at just two days old, enrolled in programs the organization calls Puppy Preschool and Canine University. After graduation, the dogs, equipped with over 40 cues and skills, are ready to be matched with their person.

Our partnership with Dogs Inc. makes a lasting impact in the lives of so many people who now feel comfortable travelling by air.

Celebrating the People Behind the Journey

Allegiant’s Anniversary Milestones

At Allegiant, every station anniversary is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a heartfelt tribute to the people who make our airline soar. This year, we’re proud to celebrate milestone anniversaries at several key stations across our network and even prouder to recognize the incredible team members behind them.

From the sunny gates of Sanford to the bustling tarmac in Pittsburgh, our Stations teams play a central role in making travel possible for our passengers because they are the Allegiant team members you see at the ticket counters, gates and throughout each airport. These dedicated individuals have built legacies of service, teamwork and passion — and now, it’s their turn to be celebrated.

Beyond the Event — A True Tribute to Our Team

Our 2025 anniversary celebrations were designed with one goal in mind: to honor the people who show up every day and make a difference. The events bring together team members, partners and even passengers to recognize the personal pride, hard work and stories that fuel our continued success.

A ground operations agent said it best while celebrating 15 years of Allegiant service at the station: “Moments like these remind us that what we do matters.”

Tailored Celebrations, Shared Gratitude

Thanks to the planning of our Culture &

Engagement team, each station’s anniversary celebration is uniquely tailored to reflect its local spirit, while staying rooted in our company-wide values of recognition and gratitude. Whether it’s a 10-year celebration or we’re marking two decades of service, every team member is celebrated with commemorative pins, certificates and personalized badges through our Program AMAZING platform.

These keepsakes aren’t just tokens — they’re symbols of appreciation that team members wear with pride. “It reminded me why I love working here,” shared a Sanford-based Team Lead.

Moments That Matter

While passengers may notice the balloons, banners and festive energy during these celebrations, the real magic lies in the smiles, stories and shared memories. These milestones are powerful reminders that Allegiant’s strength isn’t just in our aircraft or our destinations — it’s in our people.

As Allegiant continues to grow, we remain grounded by the dedication of our teams. These anniversary celebrations are more than traditions — they’re meaningful moments to say thank you to those who’ve helped shape our journey.

So next time you travel with us, know that behind every gate agent’s greeting and every smooth departure is a team that’s being celebrated.

“There are a lot of subtle things happening at altitude — cabin pressure and dry, thin air impact your sense of smell, and your perception of sweet and salty are suppressed,” said Donny Sebastiani, chairman of Sonoma Bespoke.
