Neighborhood House Happenings

Oct-Dec 2023

Our Meals on Wheels team packaged 2,400 meals for our shelf-stable meal program. These meals help provide essential nutrition to the local seniors served by Meals on Wheels in the case that inclement weather prevents us from reaching them. For more information about our Meals on Wheels Program, contact our Director, Katrina Rogers, at 309-674-1131 ext 231

Paint a Plow

The Youth Program put the skills they learned in our art program to work, and decorated a Neighborhood House snow plow for the City of Peoria. Keep an eye out for their beautiful artwork while you’re trying to keep warm this winter.

Thanks to support from community partners, Neighborhood House was able to complete its digital learning center. This project will give both Adult and Youth education program participants access to countless online resources that will help them further their education and lead them towards success.

For more information about our Youth program, contact our Youth Services Director, Patrick Randall at 309-6741131 ext. 244. To learn more about our Adult Education and GED programs, contact Ericka Ivory at 309-674- 1131 ext. 239. .

Every year Neighborhood House provides special programs to make the holiday season brighter for the community we serve. This year not only did we maintain our established Holiday Programs, distributing gifts to 77 kids through Angel Tree, 415 coats, and 1000 gift bags to seniors, but we added holiday touches to our regular programs as well. In the Food Pantry, we wanted to not only make sure people were fed, but that they were able to enjoy the holidays, giving away pumpkins and candy during Halloween, turkeys and dinner staples for Thanksgiving, and toys and wrapping paper for Christmas. Our Youth Program added a special touch as well, bringing in Santa to the annual Christmas party to hand out candy and fill the students’ stockings with toys.

Our efforts during the holidays wouldn’t be possible without extra help for volunteers. So, thank you to everyone who donated their time to help us make the holiday season special.

For more information about our Holiday Programs, contact Noah Palm at 309-674-1131 ext. 300.
