MARCH FOR MEALS

DIDYOUKNOW1IN2SENIORSLACK THEINCOMETOAFFORDBASICNEEDS?

March for Meals is a month-long celebration of the Meals on Wheels program and all that it does for local seniors. Neighborhood House is proud to deliver over 200,000 meals annually. This service allows our clients to establish meaningful social connections and live healthy, independent lives.

COMMUNITYOFCHAMPIONSWEEK

Community of Champions Week highlights the long-standing, dynamic and effective public-private partnership between our Meals on Wheels program and the businesses, organizations, governments, and volunteers who give so generously to our community. Without their help, programs like these would not be able to exist.

FEED

If this quarter showed anything, it was the major role that our community partners and supporters play in accomplishing our mission and vision. Thanks to the support from RLI and fund-a-need donors, we were able to purchase a new tilt skillet, a piece of kitchen equipment that could prepare millions of meals throughout its lifetime. Meanwhile, Kuna Foods helped supply and package 700 more shelf-stable meals to feed our Meals on Wheels clients. In our food pantry, staff and dedicated volunteers restructured our system of operations to increase efficiency and improve client experience. EDUCATE

FIRSTLEGOLEAGUE

One of our goals at Neighborhood House is to provide the community with useful skills that lead them to success. The First Lego League team came to visit our youth program, where they taught the kids about coding, programming, and other STEM topics.

OFFICERSMITH

Our Youth Program was visited by Officer Smith, a local police officer who talked about his experiences with the police force and offered his advice in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

EMPOWER

According to the U.S. Surgeon General, isolation can be as detrimental to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. For seniors receiving Meals on Wheels, these feelings of isolation and loneliness occur regularly, negatively impacting their well-being. As many know, pets provide valuable companionship that can benefit mental wellness. We found that many seniors were giving their daily meals to their pets, sacrificing their nutrition for that muchneeded companionship. To help solve this problem, Neighborhood House delivers pet food to seniors twice a month so that both the seniors we serve and their companions get the nutrition they need.

“Thanks so much for recognizing that caring for a senior’s pet is caring for the senior too”

FOOD FIGHT

Thank you to everyone who made Food Fight 2024 such a success! Thanks to the generosity of the Guests, Chefs, Bakers, Sponsors, and Community Partners, we were able to raise enough funds to feed thousands of individuals between our Meals on Wheels, Food Pantry, and Sunday Meals Programs.
