The Geography team firmly believe that the study of Geography plays a fundamental role in developing well informed global citizens. Therefore, our curriculum is designed to explore a diverse range of topics that cover both human and physical Geography. The Geography curriculum is thoroughly planned with the idea that working backwards from GCSE is important for a pupil’s progression and development in the subject. Pupils gain key geographical knowledge and skills starting from Year 7 and then continue to incorporate these within the content throughout Key Stage 3 and 4.

HT6: London Living Wage Campaign In collaboration with Citizens UK, students embark on a Social Action campaign to encourage all workers in London to be paid the Living Wage. Students learn about persuasion & presentation skills & collaborate with professionals. HT5: Identity & Mental Health (2) Students are encouraged to consider and explore not only their own identities, but also those of different people and how these influence our mental wellbeing. HT5 builds on the wok done in HT1 and HT2, exploring topics in more detail.

HT4: Internet Safety - Be Internet Citizens Students will enhance their understanding of some of the challenges the internet can present to young people, and in doing so, help them to make a positive impact online as informed and respectful internet citizens. HT4 complements the comprehensive internet safety education students receive in Computing.

HT3: Relationship & Sex Education RSE: Healthy Relationships, Consent, Gender-Based and Domestic Violence, FGM, CSE. How to identify and access help, support and advice, how to manage risks to health. HT3 introduces topics which are built upon in PSHCE in Years 8-11 as part of our spiral curriculum.

HT2: Mental Health and Wellbeing Students discover and consider mental health and wellbeing for themselves, their peers and society. Students learn about a variety of mental health issues and how to promote wellbeing. HT2 introduces topics which are built upon in PSHCE in Years 8-11 as part of our spiral curriculum.

Year 7

HT1: Me, Myself, My World My place in my school, community and the world. An exploration project. This builds on the Transition project being taught concurrently in Form Time

Learning for Life at SB enables our Y7 students to feel empowered, and become confident and safe citizens of the 21st Century.
