9A Explores Local History at Newham Heritage Centre
On Wednesday, July 9th, our Year 9A History students embarked on an exciting and educational site visit to the Newham Heritage Centre in Canning Town. This trip was a fantastic opportunity for them to delve deeper into their current history project and gain valuable insights into local heritage.
Extra curricular activities at Eastlea
The students were fortunate enough to get a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing work at the centre, giving them a unique perspective on how historical sites are preserved and developed. Donning hard hats and high-visibility vests they navigated the site, observing the various stages of the project. Their bright yellow work boots were definitely put to good use!
This hands-on experience provided a fascinating complement to their classroom learning, bringing the history of Newham to life in a tangible way. We're incredibly proud of Year 9A's engagement and enthusiasm during the visit. A huge thank you to the staff at the Newham Heritage Centre for hosting us and providing such a rich learning environment!

World of Work Day 2025
On Tuesday our Year 10 cohort had a fantastic day where they were able to meet, hear presentations and be interviewed by industry professionals. We had representatives from the Civil Service, Psychology, Coding, Construction and Advertising and Media. Students were dressed up to the nines in their business dress so they could look and feel the part. Our students showcased their proficient and confident interview skills, asked insightful and productive questions and made the school proud in their conduct and mannerism. Students look forward to this day all year and they very much made it count.

Year 6 Transition Day
On Thursday 3rd July, we were excited to welcome our new Year 7s for a special taster day. Year 6 students from local primary schools took part where they were able to meet their tutors who will hopefully be with them for the next 5 years through their journey at Eastlea. The special event was designed to help them feel comfortable and confident ahead of starting Year 7 in September.
Throughout the day, students had the chance to explore the school, meet their future tutors and teachers, and get a taste of secondary school life. Enthusiastic staff and student helpers were on hand to welcome them and answer any questions about life at Eastlea as well as support them through some of their team building activities. The day was packed with fun and engaging activities. In Drama, students worked together in groups to act out short scenes of aliens arriving in night time forests, helping them build confidence and teamwork skills. In the Spanish session, they learned some basic words and phrases, giving them a head start for language learning next term. Over in PE, there was plenty of energy as students took part sports activities like javelin and relay, encouraging them to stay active and push themselves further each time.
Many of the Year 6 students said they enjoyed making new friends and discovering more about the school. By the end of the day, there were lots of smiles and excitement about the year ahead.
Transition Day was a great success, helping students to feel more prepared and looking forward to joining Eastlea Community School in September.
