Another successful prom at Eastlea Community School sees the class of 2020 leave. A big well done to all the staff and students that worked hard to make prom happen. It was a lovely evening seeing our year 11 so glamorous and ready to party. We wish the students all the best in the future.

Headteacher’s Award We would like to congratulate Albert Stefanita for winning this year's Headteacher's Award. This is an annual award given to one student who we wish to recognise for going above and beyond in their contribution to the life of the school.

Albert is a credit to Eastlea. He is a kind, caring and respectful student who always supports others. He is regularly selected to show members of the public around our school, and personifies our school values of being kind, respectful, ambitious and acting with integrity. Most recently, Albert demonstrated his ambition by putting a huge amount of work into the planning and promotion of Eastlea Fest both creating a QR code and a website to aid the success of the festival.

Sports Day 2025

A huge thank you to all the students and staff at Eastlea community school who helped make Sports Day successful. On one of the hottest days to date students took part in Sports Day and represented their tutor groups with passion and commitment. The community ethos and teamwork was remarkable.

There were various records broken from last year.

Well done to Iris Sanha 10E, Rime 10C Alex 10S, Khalia 9m, Kiama 9A, Oliver 9C and Emmanuala 8m all setting the bar extremely high for next year.

A big well done to 9C overall sports day champions with 2594 points and to the school’s Senior Leadership who valiantly raced in various inflatable costumes in the soaring heat (pictured above).

Culture Day 2025

A huge thank you to all staff and students for making Culture Day 2025 such a fantastic success!

From the vibrant student performances in the playground with staff joining in, to the cultural activities across lessons, the day was filled with creativity, pride, and celebration.

It was wonderful to see so many staff and students wearing cultural dress, sharing food, and contributing to such an inclusive and joyful atmosphere.

Special thanks to all tutors for supporting poster making during registration, and to departments for delivering cultural activities throughout the day. The photo booth, built by the Art Department was a huge hit.

Together, we raised awareness, embraced our diversity, and helped build a stronger sense of community at Eastlea. We finished the day with a staff picnic and the biggest game of rounders ever.

Culture Day 2025

Year 10 Summer School at Eton

From the 30th June - 4th July 3 year 10 Eastlea students had the incredible opportunity to attend a Summer School at the renowned British public school, Eton College. We were offered this opportunity by Eton themselves and we choose our students based on their academic prowess and secure knowledge they would represent our school with pride.

The Summer School is designed to provide students an experience in a setting they may not otherwise ever have access to alongside helping them develop skills which improve their communication, team-work and presentation skills. Our students said the following: Quy: 'I had an amazing time. I really liked it because I got to meet new people and it took me out of my comfort zone. The staff were really friendly and inclusive. I particularly enjoyed the outside activities.'

Alisha: 'I really enjoyed the swimming, badminton and games of fives we got to play. It was a really good way to help improve my presentation skills and on the final day we all had to present ourselves and how we had developed which was really fun.'

Syed: 'I really liked the lessons that were based around team building. This helped to improve my skills of talking to others and communication. It was really fun staying away from home and the school had nice desserts.'

The students were in this summer school alongside approximately 50 other students from around the country and they have stayed in contact with others that they met.

We are delighted that these 3 students got the opportunity to experience this Summer School and all 3 would recommend this for other students when the time comes!

MJ The Musical On Thursday 10th July a Performing Arts trip to see Michael Jackson the Musical took place. they behaved impeccably and were exceptional role models for the other schools who attended.

Measles Outbreak - Message from Jason Strelitz

There continues to be a large measles outbreak in London with some cases being reported in Newham Measles is highly infectious and can be fatal. Cases are predominantly in unvaccinated children. More information about measles can be found here. Information about how to manage a suspected case can be found here. The Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine is the most effective way to protect ourselves and our communities against measles, mumps, and rubella. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide lifelong protection against these highly contagious diseases. You can have the MMR vaccine at any age if you have missed a dose.

Ahead of the summer holidays, we want to encourage families to check if their children are up-to-date with their routine immunisations, and if travelling, to consider if other vaccinations are needed.

You will have received an email on 13.6.25 entitled Eastlea Community School Student Wellbeing Survey Please click on the link in the email and complete it. It should only take a few minutes.
