Local group champions community spirit with hampers for families in need WORDS AND PHOTOS BY PETAR STIPANOVIC

B

infield, UK – In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, a local group known for organising popular social activities such as the Thursday Rackets Club and the Monday Choir (Binfield Community Choir), has taken an extraordinary step to support families in need during these challenging times. The group, comprising dedicated volunteers, has fully orchestrated an event to assemble and distribute hampers filled with necessities and goodwill. “We’ve coordinated everything independently,” said Marianne Lamberth, a member of the organising group. “Our only request to The Cowshed, a well-respected local charity, was for their approval of the hamper contents and to confirm the quanti-

ties. They expressed an overwhelming need, mentioning that thousands could be easily accepted.” Once the hampers are ready, they will be dropped off at The Cowshed’s storehouse. From there, the charity will distribute them to families they support or to those reaching out for aid. This

initiative reflects the group's commitment to not just recreational activities but also to meaningful community engagement. The group, also known for its innovative 'Meals by Wheels' programme, is extending its community outreach. In the new year, they plan to introduce

a new activity designed specifically for young families. This will take place on Saturday mornings at the new Blue Mountain Community Centre, conveniently located above Binfield Surgery, next to Kings Academy. This initiative is a shining example of how local groups can make a significant impact in their communities. By combining their resources and passions, the members are not only creating enjoyable social gatherings but also providing essential support to those in need, truly embodying the spirit of community.
