Mensaje del Presidente Queridos miembros y amigos,
¡Saludos! As my two-year term as Chairman comes to a closure, I would like to offer you a personal account of what we, as a Board of Directors, have done over these last 24 months and the goals that we have achieved. I would also like to thank all of you for all the support you have given MDHCC during this time. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve as your Chair. The following are just some key highlights during my term, which I wanted to share with you: Grew the overall MDHCC membership Increased the participation and support of new corporate sponsors including at the Chairman Partner level Initiated major activities to collaborate with other Hispanic chambers, minority chambers and regional chambers Continued to increase the stature and turnout at the Annual Business Awards Holiday Gala, thus elevating it as our most prominent annual eventStrengthened advocacy support to our businesses by testifying on their behalf in Annapolis Increased the participation and support by MDHCC members at the Maryland Hispanic Business Conference Established the first-ever Minority Legislative Reception, and Further strengthened MDHCC’s standing and visibility with a variety of Maryland state agencies In addition, I am leaving MDHCC with stronger financial capacity than when I took office.
In fact, I am proud to announce that MDHCC is very close now to having its own Executive Director. In the coming months, there will be more news to come on this matter. During my tenure, I was privileged to make new friends and renew ties with old ones. I thank the MDHCC Board of Directors for the dedication and support during this time. In addition, I would like to thank Mr. Jorge Castillo, Vice Chair of MDHCC, for acting in capacity as chair in the last six months as my business travel requirements have made it hard for me to be physically present. I also want to announce that after more than 28 years in the state of MarylandI will be relocating to Florida for personal and business reasons. I will miss you all but please stay in touch. On behalf of the MDHCC Board of Directors, may you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with your loved ones! Remember the MDHCC Holiday Business Awards Gala is on Jan. 14, 2016.
