Pet food bank bounds into life during lockdown “Patch’s Pet Food Bank provides a lifeline. In a world where things are so upside down, and so much human kindness surfacing, it is reassuring to know our animal companions are being thought of too,” Ioni Drake from South Molton told Molton Monthly. This new North Devon pet charity started up during lockdown at the end of last year. Founder Emma Osborne saw that while children and families were getting vital financial support, pet owners were being left facing difficult decisions due to hardship. “Some people have been having to choose whether to re-home their treasured pets because the pandemic has meant it’s been a struggle to afford to keep them,” said Emma.

“Many of the rehoming centres are full, so we thought it made sense to try to offer help to keep them where they should be - at their owner’s side.” An initial appeal on social media saw overwhelming support for the idea, and Patch’s Pet Food Bank was born.
