MIDAC Batteries celebrated 25 years in business hosting an event with more than 700 guests attending, both employees and clients.

Ci hanno onorato della loro presenza anche autorità, tra cui voglio ricordare Giulio Pedrollo, presidente di Confindustria Verona e Lino Gambaretto sindaco del nostro prezioso comune “Soave”.

The 25th anniversary is an important goal we achieved thanks to the stability and unity of the company. We are in good health and we grew even during the crisis, but the historical moment urge us to work with more strength and more effort to guarantee the future of MIDAC. The challenges we face are in fact really complex, we operate in a globalised market that constantly request more efficiency and continuous innovation in processes and products.

Assunzioni e crescita EMPLOYMENTS AND GROWTH MIDAC compie 25 anni e il bilancio è positivo: continuano le assunzioni e l’azienda cresce.

I numeri di un successo in pillole.

MIDAC turns 25 and the balance is positive: employments continue and the company grows.

The numbers of success.

• Midac è al primo posto in Italia per la produzione di batterie industriali per carrelli elevatori e al secondo per la produzione di batterie di avviamento per automobili e camion, con sede principale a Soave (Verona) e due stabilimenti a Cremona e Torino.

• Midac holds the first position in Italy for production of industrial batteries for lift trucks and the second for production of starter batteries for cars and trucks, with his headquarter in Soave (Verona) and two factories in Cremona and Torino.

• Midac in 25 anni di storia, non ha mai utilizzato ammortizzatori sociali, né cassa integrazione e ovviamente nessun licenziamento. È inoltre in vigore un accordo aziendale che introduce nuove forme di flessibilità e premi legati al risultato.

• In 25 years of business, Midac never used social safety nets, nor redundancy and obviously no layoffs. Furthermore, a new company agreement introduced new forms of flexibility and productivity bonus.

• Midac nel 2014 ha fatturato 150 milioni, con un utile netto di 4 milioni e un trend in decisa ripresa nelle vendite al mercato italiano.

• Midac had a 2014 revenue of 150 million Euros, with a net profit of 4 millions and a sales growth trend in the Italian market.

• Midac ha dato vita a nuove assunzioni che sono avvenute in tutti e tre gli stabilimenti italiani, suddivise in dirette e interinali. Tra le prime, nove contratti a tempo indeterminato e 2 a tempo determinato per persone di età di circa quarant’anni, collocati nelle mansioni di impiegati commerciali e del reparto tecnico-produttivo. Con contratto interinale l’azienda ha invece inserito 37 ventenni come operai di produzione. Una scelta che rispecchia la filosofia aziendale di offrire sicurezza ai profili con maggiore esperienza, e magari famiglia, e mettere alla prova i più giovani per un periodo di tempo, con possibilità di successivo inserimento.

• Midac employed new personnel in all of its three Italian factories, with direct and interim contracts.

Among the firsts, there were 9 permanent and 2 fixed-term contracts, all people in their forties hired as commercial office or technical-productive department operators. With the interim contracts the company hired 37 young people as production workers. A choice that reflects the company philosophy to offer security to the ones with more experience, and maybe a family, and test the younger workers for a period of time, with the possibility of a permanent integration.

• Midac per rispondere alla crescente domanda verso i propri prodotti, ha avuto la necessità d’inserire in azienda soprattutto operai di produzione.

Tra questi, quasi tutti sono giovani ventenni assunti con contratto interinale, ma ha anche inserito tre quarantenni con contratto a tempo indeterminato.

A supporto della produzione, ha inoltre rafforzato la struttura di vendita e relazione con i clienti, con l’assunzione di una decina di persone, tra cui due donne, nell’ufficio commerciale, tecnico e ICT. Per tutti i ruoli ha dato particolare importanza al background formativo dei nuovi assunti: vi sono infatti molti diplomati anche tra gli operai di produzione, oltre che alcuni laureati negli altri settori. Dal 2005 il numero degli occupati in Italia è passato da 220 unità a oltre 500.

• To answer the constantly growing demand for its products, Midac needed to hire production workers. Most of them are young people with fixed-term contacts, but also hired three employees in their forties with permanent contracts. To support the production, Midac strengthened the structure of sales and public relations, hiring ten people, among which two women, in the commercial and technical office and ICT. For the choice of all roles the company gave particular importance at educational background of the new employees: a lot of our production workers hold a diploma, as well as other departments’ employees that have a degree. Since 2005 the number of our employees in Italy increased from 220 to more than 500.

Lavorare per migliorare WORK TO IMPROVE

Elisa Spimpolo da quattro anni Kaizen Manager di Midac racconta cosa significa essere responsabile del miglioramento continuo di un grande gruppo.

ELISA SPIMPOLO, since four years Midac’s Kaizen Manager tells us what it means to be responsible for the constant growth of a big group.

Elisa Spimpolo, ingegnere, da quattro anni in Midac si occupa delle attività di supporto ai vari reparti per il miglioramento continuo. Ci accompagna a scoprire quali siano i cardini su cui si basa il suo lavoro, la filosofia aziendale e le caratteristiche che fanno di Midac una realtà all’avanguardia in fatto di management e sistemi produttivi.

Elisa Spimpolo, engineer, since four years at Midac is responsible for the support activities for the various departments, to guarantee constant growth. She takes us to discover what are the bases of her work, the company philosophy and the features that make Midac a cutting edge company for what concerns management and productive systems.

Quando ha iniziato a lavorare in Midac e con che ruolo?

La mia esperienza in Midac è iniziata sette anni fa, nel maggio del 2007. Per i primi tre anni ho lavorato come responsabile del sistema di gestione integrato (qualità, ambiente, sicurezza e responsabilità sociale): seguivo tutto ciò che concerneva il mantenimento delle certificazioni, dai rapporti con gli enti e le autorità competenti, agli audit da parte dei nostri clienti. Conoscere il processo, mi ha sicuramente aiutata a svolgere la mia attuale mansione.

When did you start working at Midac and in which position?

My experience at Midac has begun seven years ago, in May of 2007. For the first three years I was responsible for the integrated management system (quality, environment, security and social responsibility). I had to take care of everything that concerned keeping the certifications up-to-date, relations with the authorities, audits from our clients. Knowing the process, certainly helped me in my current work.

What’s your current position?

Since four years I am Kaizen Manager, a Japanese term that defines the responsible for the constant growth: concretely, it means supporting the company employees in mapping product and office processes and eliminate activities that don’t give “value” to the client.

The purpose is to supply a better quality product to the client, in less time at a lower price.

“Do good at first try” and “Don’t receive, don’t create, don’t convey problems” become fundamental principles.

Clearly there is an exact method to follow, that by the way is not new, in fact it was introduced almost fifty years ago in Toyota, we are talking about Lean Thinking...

Che ruolo ricopre attualmente?

Da quattro anni sono Kaizen Manager, ossia, termini giapponesi a parte, sono responsabile del miglioramento continuo: concretamente, significa supportare le figure aziendali nella mappatura dei processi, sia produttivi che office e nell’implementazione di azioni finalizzate ad eliminare le attività che non danno “valore” per il cliente. L’obiettivo è fornire al cliente un prodotto di qualità migliore, in tempi più rapidi e ad un prezzo inferiore.

“Fare bene al primo colpo” e “Non ricevere, non creare, non trasmettere i problemi”, diventano quindi i principi cardine.

Chiaramente esiste una metodologia precisa da seguire che peraltro non è nuova ma è stata introdotta quasi cinquant’anni fa in Toyota, parliamo di Lean Thinking…

What it means to work in a big group like Midac?

Midac is farsighted, has a wide mentality and chose Made in Italy, that’s why invests in the improvement: working for Midac means having the opportunity to give a real contribution to the company growth. Position aside, we are all involved.

Cosa significa lavorare in un grande gruppo come Midac?

Midac è lungimirante, ha una mentalità aperta e ha scelto il Made in Italy, per questo investe nel miglioramento: lavorare in Midac significa avere l’opportunità di dare concretamente il proprio contributo per far MOTIVE

According to your competences, how has the job changed over the years?

In a Job Market where the offer is constantly increasing and quality is not a plus but an intrinsic factor, manage to be “dantotzu” that is “before others, ahead of others” is essential. Reducing the costs, while improving the product’s quality and technology, preceding the client’s needs is the only way to stay relevant in the market. Never stop thinking, innovating, improving: our competitors do the same, everyday, because this is the new market. If you lie still, you’re already defeated: the faster the enhancement process, the greater the opportunities. Just think at the smartphones world: perfectly fits this concept.

Come si è evoluto il lavoro, secondo le sue competenze, negli anni?

In un mercato del lavoro dove l’offerta è in continua crescita e la qualità non è un plus ma è intrinseca, riuscire ad essere “dantotzu” ossia “prima degli altri, davanti agli altri”, diventa indispensabile. Abbattere i costi, migliorando al contempo la qualità e la tecnologia del prodotto, anticipando le esigenze del cliente è l’unica via per rimanere sul mercato.

Non bisogna mai smettere di pensare, di innovare, di migliorare: i nostri competitors fanno altrettanto, ogni giorno, perché questo è il nuovo mercato. Se rimanessimo fermi saremmo già sconfitti: più rapidi saremo nel processo di miglioramento, maggiori saranno le opportunità. Pensiamo al mondo degli smartphone: rispecchia perfettamente questo concetto.

Which values inspires your work?

This job is teaching me a lot: first of all you don’t take anything for granted, you need to analyze every situation with objective data. The planning is a fundamental phase that is normally underrated and verifying the implementations is the only way to guarantee a long-lasting achievement of the fixed goals. Basic concepts, I know, but they’re often bypassed by the companies, always more worried by the emergencies. Perhaps it’s necessary to take a step back to find the motivations that once pushed into “doing more, with less”.

Quali valori ispirano il suo operato?

Questo lavoro mi sta sicuramente insegnando molto: innanzitutto che non si deve mai dare nulla per scontato, che occorre analizzare le situazioni con dati oggettivi, che la pianificazione è una fase fondamentale a cui spesso si dedica invece pochissimo tempo e che la verifica di quanto implementato è l’unico modo per garantire il raggiungimento durevole degli obiettivi fissati. Sono concetti basilari, è vero, tuttavia spesso bypassati dalle aziende, sempre più occupate a seguire le emergenze: forse è necessario fare un passo indietro per ritrovare le motivazioni che un tempo spingevano a “fare di più, con meno”.

If you had to point out the innovative features that identified Midac, which would you choose?

The first feature that comes in my mind when I think about Midac is definitely its organizational structure: transversal, not vertical anymore, founded on multi-competence, inter-functional teams. Facing problems on a daily basis is an opportunity of improvement for Midac, using problem solving methods.

Se dovesse indicare le caratteristiche innovative che hanno contraddistinto Midac, quali citerebbe?

La prima caratteristica che mi viene in mente se penso a Midac è sicuramente la sua struttura organizzativa: trasversale e non più verticale, si fonda sul lavoro di team inter-funzionali e multi competenza che affrontano quotidianamente i problemi, che per Midac sono opportunità di miglioramento, utilizzando metodi di problem solving.

You hold a position of responsibility in an important context, how do you prepare for such a demanding role?

A specific technical preparation is necessary, like for every other role, but the biggest responsibility is to properly train, captivate and motivate all the company’s departments, spreading the Lean Thinking and converting it into the Midac thinking. My figure work as a “support”, the results are obtained by all the departments, sooner and greater as better they approach to the Lean Thinking and to the change, that is not always easy. I believe that the right recipe is a mix between method, communication and personnel’s motivation: in this way you will manage to value everyone’s potential putting it at the service of the company while giving satisfaction to the individual.

Lei ricopre un ruolo di responsabilità, in un contesto importante, come ci si prepara per ruoli così impegnativi?

Una preparazione tecnica specifica è indispensabile, come per qualunque altra figura, ma la responsabilità maggiore credo stia nel riuscire a formare adeguatamente, a coinvolgere e a motivare tutti gli enti aziendali trasmettendo il Lean Thinking e trasformandolo nel pensiero di Midac. La mia è una figura che opera “a supporto”, i risultati sono ottenuti da tutti gli enti, tanto prima e tanto maggiori quanto migliore sarà il loro approccio al Lean Thinking e al cambiamento che, per natura umana, non è mai semplice. La ricetta giusta a mio parere è un mix tra metodo, comunicazione e motivazione del personale: in questo modo si riuscirà a cogliere il potenziale di ciascuno mettendolo a servizio dell’azienda e al contempo traendo soddisfazione per il singolo.

EVERY TIME I GET ON THE AMBULANCE, FROM MY POSITIVE WORK EXPERIENCE IN MIDAC I TAKE WITH ME THE WORK METHOD, THE ATTITUDE TO START CONSTRUCTIVE RELATIONS AND A SPECIAL CARE FOR INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Elisabetta Verzè, dipendente Midac dal 2010 come addetta all’ufficio commerciale per la divisione batterie avviamento, racconta la sua vita in Midac in questa breve intervista.

Quando è arrivata in Midac e con quali mansioni?

Lavoro in Midac dal 2010 come addetta all’ufficio commerciale per la divisione batterie avviamento e da allora mi occupo esclusivamente di export.

Lei è volontaria presso la Croce verde, cosa le ha insegnato questa attività che ha poi influito sul suo lavoro e, viceversa, cosa le ha dato il lavoro da portare nell’attività di volontariato?

Sicuramente le situazioni difficili, di disagio soprattutto sociale e in ambito familiare che trovi anche dove non crederesti mai, ti aiutano a pesare le cose nel giusto modo e a dare loro l’importanza che meritano. Questo si riverbera positivamente anche nei rapporti di lavoro. Della mia positiva esperienza lavorativa in Midac, tutte le volte che salgo in ambulanza, porto con me: la concentrazione, il metodo di lavoro, la propensione a intraprendere relazioni costruttive e un occhio di riguardo ai rapporti interpersonali. Tutte qualità che nel ruolo ricoperto in Azienda nel corso degli anni ho potuto apprendere e affinare.

Quali sono i sentimenti che la spingono a impegnarsi per gli altri?

Più che di sentimenti parlerei di cultura dell’aiuto per il prossimo trasmessami dalla mia famiglia, unita ad una particolare forma mentis, che mi fa impegnare e applicare al cento per cento in tutto ciò in cui credo e che mi circonda: dal lavoro, alla vita familiare e di conseguenza anche al volontariato.

Cosa significa lavorare in un grande gruppo come Midac?

Significa far parte di un gruppo affermato e conosciuto a livello internazionale, con una struttura organizzata e moderna, dove le opportunità di crescita, non solo professionale, sono molteplici e i rapporti sono prima di tutto tra persone con la p maiuscola, prima che tra colleghi.

Coltiva ALTRI INTERESSI? Nei momenti di svago e quando vi è l’occasione, mi diletto in cucina per soddisfare, per quanto mi è possibile considerato che sono parecchio esigenti, i palati di famigliari ed amici. Alla fine di una impegnativa giornata di lavoro mi rilasso praticando del nuoto o frequentando lezioni di acquagym, oltre a ritemprare il fisico aiutano anche la socialità.

WHEN DID YOU ARRIVE IN MIDAC AND IN WHICH POSITION? I work at Midac since 2010 as commercial export office employee for the starter batteries division and I am responsible for the export.

YOU ARE VOLUNTEER AT “CROCE VERDE”, WHAT DID THIS ACTIVITY TEACH YOU THAT INFLUENCED YOUR WORK, AND, VICE VERSA, WHAT DID YOUR JOB GIVE YOU THAT WAS VALUABLE IN THIS CHARITY ACTIVITY? Surely the difficult situations of social disadvantage, that you can find even where you never thought you could, especially in some family environment, helps you weight things and give them the right importance. This also positively affects in my work relations. Every time I get on the ambulance, from my positive work experience in Midac I take with me the work method, the attitude to start constructive relations and a special care for interpersonal relationships. These are all skills that I learned and perfected during my working years for the company.

Della mia positiva esperienza lavorativa in Midac, tutte le volte che salgo in ambulanza, porto con me: concentrazione, metodo di lavoro, propensione a intraprendere relazioni costruttive e un occhio di riguardo per i rapporti interpersonali

WHAT ARE THE FEELINGS THAT ENCOURAGE YOU TO PUT EFFORT INTO HELPING OTHERS? More than feelings I’d rather talk about the culture of helping others that my family passed down to me, and a particular mind set, that makes me commit and get into everything I believe in that surrounds me: from work to family life and of course charity work.

WHAT IT MEANS TO WORK IN A BIG GROUP LIKE MIDAC? It means being part of an internationally known prominent group, with an modern organised structure and multiple growth opportunity, not only professionally talking.

Relations are based on the fact that before colleagues, we are all people.

DO YOU CULTIVATE OTHER HOBBIES? In my free time and when I have the occasion, I like to cook for my family and friends, even though their palates are really exigent. At the end of a hard day of work, I relax going for a swim or taking water aerobics lessons, that restore the body and help sociality.

Il LogiMAT 2015 ha registrato il miglior risultato nella storia della LogiMAT. In aree di copertura quasi tutti significativi, il 13 ° Salone Internazionale per la Distribuzione, Materials Handling e Flusso di informazioni ha registrato una crescita a due cifre. LogiMAT è diventato un appuntamento irrinunciabile per MIDAC , vista la sua crescente posizione nello scenario europeo delle batterie industriali per applicazioni di movimentazione industriale e logistica. E quale migliore palcoscenico della LogiMAT che con 1.162 espositori (+ 15,4%), di cui 246 (+ 35%), provenienti da 28 Paesi (+ 10,5%), per presentare e rinnovare l’offerta di MIDAC delle applicazioni e dei sistemi di gestione dell’energia?

Una crescita significativa di intra-logistica associata ad una rinnovata situazione economica del settore, fanno ben promettere per l’area centrale Europea in cui MIDAC ha deciso di rinnovare le proprie attenzioni per ritagliarsi una posizione di rilievo in mercati come la Germania, la Svizzera, l’Austria. Senza naturalmente dimenticare altri paesi in cui MIDAC è già presente quali Francia, Belgio e Paesi Bassi.

Si è trattato quindi di una vetrina importante per le nuove Energy Solution proposte da MIDAC che vanno ad integrare la gamma di batterie standard e che consentiranno una diversa collocazione nel mercato. In particolare la nuova gamma Low Maintenance, che grazie ad un nuovo progetto di batteria e ad un sistema di gestione con caricabatteria HE (Alta efficienza) offre 120 cicli senza rabbocco, la gamma MHE ad alta efficienza che permette risparmi di energia fino al 30% grazie ad un sistema caricabatteria + batteria con efficienza di sistema pari a oltre il 90% e conseguente ottimizzazione del fattore di potenza (cosφ) sempre superiore a 0.95. Dalla gamma MHE nasce la naturale evoluzione dei sistemi MHEfast che unisce all’aumentata efficienza di sistema la possibilità di effettuare ricariche veloci e evitare le operazioni di cambio batteria.

Con l’occasione MIDAC ha anche riproposto, affiancandola alla precedente gamma di successo MBS Block, già presente sul mercato dal 2007, la nuova gamma MDL Block con capacità da 180 a 250 Ah.

The 13th International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow recorded a two digit growth. LogiMAT has become a fundamental appointment for MIDAC, given its growing position in the European scene of industrial batteries for logistic and industrial handling applications. And what better stage than LogiMAT that with 1.162 exhibitors (+15,4%), of whom 246 (+35%), coming from 28 Countries (+10,5%), to present and reconfirm MIDAC’s offer of applications and energy management systems?

A significant growth of intra-logistic associated with a restored economic situation of the industry, looks promising for the central Europe area where MIDAC decided to renovate its attentions to ensure a relevant position in marketplaces like German, Switzerland, Austria. Obviously not forgetting countries like France, Belgium and Netherland, where MIDAC is already present.

It was definitely an important showcase for new energy solutions introduced by MIDAC that integrate the standard batteries line and will allow a different collocation in the market. In particular the new Low Maintenance line that, thanks to a new battery project and a management system with HE (High efficiency) battery charger, offers 120 cycles without topping up; and the MHE high efficiency line that saves energy up to 30% thanks to a battery charger system + battery with a system efficiency up to over 90% and consequent optimization of the power factor, always more than 0.95.

From the MHE line comes the natural evolution of MHEfast systems that combines to higher efficiency the opportunity of fast charging and avoid battery change operations.

On this occasion MIDAC also proposed the new MDL Block line with 180-250 AH capacity, alongside with the previous MBS Block line, successfully on the market since 2007.

Il concetto di base rimane quello della precedente MBS quindi elementi standard (in questo caso a nome DIN) inseriti in un monoblocco di polipropilene rinforzato, riducendo le parti normalmente soggette a guasto in una batteria tradizionale composta da elementi e contenitore in lamiera rivestita. Questo porta oltre che ad una aumentata affidabilità un vantaggio in termini economici.

World Endurance Championship 2014, Toyota Racing con la vettura TS040 ha ottenuto una doppia vittoria: nella categoria Costruttori e in quella Piloti. Un grande risultato per la tecnologia Toyota Hybrid sviluppata per il propulsore.

2014 World Endurance Championship, Toyota Racing with the TS040 vehicle achieved a double victory with both Manufacturers and Pilots titles. A big result for Toyota Hybrid technology developed for the propeller.

Il 9 giugno 2011 è una data che rimarrà negli annali dell’automobilismo sportivo. Quel giorno infatti, in occasione della storica gara di durata 24 Ore di Le Mans, la cui prima edizione si corse nel lontano 1923, il Presidente della Federazione Internazionale dell’Automobile (F.I.A.) Jean Todt e il Presidente dell’Automobile Club de l’Ouest (A.C.O.) JeanClaude Plassart insieme decisero il ritorno sul palcoscenico mondiale di un campionato riservato alle vetture sport-prototipo. Il neonato WEC fece il suo esordio nel marzo del 2012 con la 12 Ore di Sebring e da allora ha impegnato alcune delle più importanti case del panorama automobilistico e i migliori piloti specialisti delle gare di durata. Per la stagione 2014 la F.I.A. e l’A.C.O., quest’ultima organizzatrice della 24 Ore di Le Mans, hanno deciso una nuova serie di regole che riguarda la classe regina degli sport-prototipi, denominata LMP1, e che rende ancora più performanti e competitive le vetture a motorizzazione ibrida.

Le vetture a motorizzazione ibrida sono quelle in cui coesistono due forme di accumulo di energia atte entrambe a generare la propulsione in grado di muovere il veicolo. In termini tecnici nella vettura ibrida ci sono due motori diversi, solitamente uno termico a combustione interna e uno elettrico. Mentre il motore termico funziona come un normale motore a scoppio alimentato a benzina il motore elettrico è in grado di convertire in energia sfruttabile la forza generata dalle frenate della vettura stessa, secondo lo stesso principio dello ERS (Energy Recovery System) di cui sono dotate le monoposto di Formula 1. Molto interessante è anche la ricaduta che lo sviluppo di vetture del genere può avere poi a livello di progettazione e realizzazione delle automobili di serie destinate ad essere guidate tutti i giorni dagli automobilisti dell’intero pianeta. Non è un caso dunque che Toyota sia impegnata in prima linea nel WEC con una vettura ibrida, dato che la casa giapponese è stata un vero e proprio

June 9, 2011 is a date that will last in the history of motor sports. That day, on the occasion of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the historical car race held annually since 1923, the president of the International Automobile Federation (F.I.A.) Jean Todt and the president of the Automobile Club of the West (A.C.O.) Jean-Claude Plassart decided together the come back on the world scene of a championship reserved to sport prototypes vehicles. The new born WEC made his debut in March 2012 with the 12 Hours of Sebring and since then has been joined by the most important car companies and by the best pilots specialised in endurance races. For the 2014 season, A.C.O. (organizer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans) and F.I.A. established new rules for LMP1, the queen class of prototype-sports, that make the hybrid vehicles even more competitive and high performance.

Hybrid vehicles combines two different energy sources to generate the propulsion that moves the vehicle. In technical terms in the hybrid vehicle there are two different engines, usually an internal combustion engine and an electric engine. While the internal combustion engine works as a normal engine using gasoline or diesel, the electric engine can convert into energy the force generated by the hard braking of the car, following the same principle of ERS (Energy Recovery System) of the Formula 1 cars. It’s really interesting how the development of this kind of cars influence the design and realization of standard cars driven every day in the entire world. So it is no coincidence that Toyota is totally committed to the WEC with an hybrid vehicle, being a pioneer in this particular field. The Toyota Prius, launched in 1997, was the first hybrid car produced in large scale. The Toyota Hybrid technology allows to reduce fuel consumption and minimize CO2 emissions, with more respect for the environment. With 24 different models in his hybrid cars line (in Italy stand out Yaris, Auris and Prius), the Japanese manufacturer ranks

Toyota immediately joined the WEC debuting its hybrid sport-prototype at the 24 Hours of Le Mans the 16th of June 2012.

This prototype, named TS030 Hybrid, realized with a carbon fibre chassis, mount a 3,4 L V8 aspirated engine alongside with an electric engine. Unfortunately in that occasion both Toyota TS030 Hybrid are forced to retire, the first for a collision with a slower vehicle and the second for a engine problem while leading the race. In the rest of the season the two Toyota opposed to the main contenders Audi R18 e-tron quattro winning two times at the Six Hours of Sao Paulo in Brazil and at the Six Hours of Fuji in Japan.

In 2013 the regulations of the first races facilitate the diesel propelled Audi and F.I.A. decide to permit the expansion of the tank capacity for the gasoline fueled vehicles to balance the situation between the two types of vehicles. With this rule change, the Toyota TS030 Hybrid return fully competitive and rank second and fourth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Following this good result, Toyota ranked second at the 6 Hours of Austin U.S.A., first at the 6 Hours of Fuji, second at the 6 Hours of Shanghai in China, and obtained another victory in the last race of the season at the 6 Hours of Bahrain. All these brilliant results are good conditions for a winning 2014 for Toyota, that in the first race in Silverstone lines up the new TS040 Hybrid. The opponents are all respectable, aside of the traditional contender Audi R18 e-tron quattro the new Porsche 919 Hybrid is officially lined up by the Stuttgart manufacturer. The TS040 differs from the old TS030 for a 3,7 L 520 HP DENSO engine, with a new 7 gears sequential shift, and an AISIN electric engine that can provide all-wheel drive when needed and combined with the other engine can deliver up to 480 hp.

The 6 Hours of Silverstone is a triumph for Toyota, with the first place for car number 8 of Davidson-Lapierre-Buemi and second place for car number 7 of Wurz-Sarrazin-Nakajima. At the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium the TS040 Hybrid number 8 ranks first again and the number 7 is third. At the 24 Hours of Le Man, car number 7 dominates the race until the 14th hour when Sopra anthony Davidson e Sèbastien is forced to retire due to Buemi vincitori al Fuji 2014 an electrical problem.

Nel 2013 il regolamento nelle prime gare favorisce ancora troppo le Audi a propulsione diesel e la F.I.A. interviene concedendo alle vetture a benzina un aumento della capacità del serbatoio in maniera da riequilibrare la situazione fra le due tipologie di vetture. Grazie a questo le Toyota TS030 Hybrid ritornano pienamente competitive e alla 24 Ore di Le Mans si piazzano seconda e quarta. A questo bel risultato seguono il secondo posto alla 6 Ore di Austin negli Stati Uniti, la vittoria alla 6 Ore del Fuji, il secondo posto alla 6 Ore di Shangai in Cina e di nuovo la vittoria nell’ultimo appuntamento della stagione alla 6 Ore del Bahrain.

Dopo questi brillanti risultati ci sono tutti i presupposti per una stagione 2014 vincente da parte della Toyota, che schiera fin dalla prima gara a Silverstone in Gran Bretagna due esemplari della nuova TS040 Hybrid.

Gli avversari sono di tutto rispetto dato che alla tradizionale avversaria Audi R18 e-tron quattro si affianca anche la nuova Porsche 919 Hybrid schierata ufficialmente dalla casa di Stoccarda. Rispetto alla vecchia TS030 la TS040 può contare su un motore termico V8 di 3,7 litri e 520 cavalli di potenza, su un nuovo cambio a 7 rapporti anziché 6 e sulla trazione che all’occorrenza diventa integrale grazie al motore elettrico prodotto dalla Aisin posto sull’asse anteriore e che affianca quello posteriore della Denso sviluppando complessivamente altri 480 cavalli.

La 6 Ore di Silverstone si conclude con un trionfo Toyota che piazza al primo posto la numero 8 di Davidson-Lapierre-Buemi davanti alla numero 7 di Wurz-Sarrazin-Nakajima classificatasi seconda. Alla 6 Ore di Spa-Francorchamps in Belgio la TS040 Hybrid numero 8 bissa il successo mentre la numero 7 è terza. Alla 24 Ore di Le Mans la numero 7 domina la gara fino alla 14. ora quando è costretta al ritiro per un problema elettrico.

Il testimone viene raccolto dalla numero 8 che conclude terza la maratona francese mantenendo la testa del campionato. Nel quarto appuntamento della stagione ad Austin un diluvio rimescola le carte facendo uscire di strada numerose vetture fra cui le due Toyota. Dopo la sospensione di un’ora la gara riparte e vede protagonista lo svizzero Buemi che con una furiosa rimonta riesce a riportare la numero 8 sul terzo gradino del podio mentre la vettura gemella alla fine si piazza sesta. La quinta gara al Fuji è quella di casa per la Toyota che non si lascia sfuggire l’occasione di ben figurare piazzando la seconda doppietta della stagione con Davidson-Buemi primi sulla numero 8 davanti a Wurz-Sarrazin-Nakajima con la numero 7. Nel sesto appuntamento alla 6 Ore di Shangai le due Toyota si confermano di un’altra categoria conquistando ancora una volta i primi due gradini del podio con la coppia Davidson-Buemi nuovamente primi davanti ai compagni di squadra Wurz-Sarrazin-Nakajima. Grazie a questo risultato a due gare dal termine del WEC 2014, Bahrain e Brasile, il duo Davidson-Buemi ha già seriamente ipotecato il titolo piloti con 42 punti di vantaggio sui secondi classificati mentre la Toyota guida la graduatoria dei costruttori con 29 punti di margine sull’Audi e 93 sulla Porsche.

Coralba Scarrico Gelosi, president of Vicenza’ section of Team for Children ONLUS (non-profit organization), presents the association’s activity and the goals that must be reached.

Quando capita di vivere esperienze di malattia in famiglia, la vita cambia. Si cambia anche come persone. E se ad essere colpiti sono i bambini, il cambiamento assume i toni dello sconvolgimento. In sintesi, sono questi i sentimenti che hanno spinto Coralba Scarrico Gelosi, presidente della sezione di Vicenza della Onlus Team for Children ad impegnarsi in prima persona per creare una realtà capace di aiutare i piccoli pazienti e le loro famiglie ad affrontare le prove che la malattia impone. Tutto è nato quando a Gregorio, uno dei suoi figli, è stata diagnosticata una forma di leucemia. Ce lo racconta in questa intervista.

My first thought is that today Gregorio is OK, so I would say never stop fighting. My second thought goes to those who are fighting this battle, we all have the duty not to leave them alone. This is the principle that inspires me to face the challenges that Team for Children encounters every day.

LA ONLUS Dopo 4 anni di lavoro, il 19 novembre 2014, finalmente si è concretizzata la sezione vicentina della Onlus Team for Children che si propone di sostenere le famiglie di bambini pazienti oncologici e la realizzazione di un centro dove poter eseguire le terapie presso l’Ospedale San Bortolo di Vicenza. You tried personally what it’s like to have a child under oncologic treatment, what you feel to pass on to others?

Il primo pensiero è che oggi Gregorio sta bene, quindi di non smettere mai di combattere. Il secondo pensiero va a chi sta affrontando questa battaglia e che noi tutti abbiamo il dovere di non lasciar soli.

Questo è il principio che mi ispira per affrontare le sfide che Team for Children incontra quotidianamente.

How did this belief grow?

I am from Vicenza and the therapies for my son were available only in Padua. Even if it’s not a great distance, the loneliness I’ve felt in some moments, being far from the rest of the family, made me understand that we have to find a way to make the treatments available as close as possible.

Not always possible, though..

Sure, but our experience teaches us that is not impossible. If we talk about common tumours, once the treatment protocol is planned by a specialist centre like Padua’s University Clinic, the therapies can be executed in local centres, if properly equipped.

That’s what you are doing in Vicenza?

figlio poteva essere curato solo a Padova, benché la distanza non sia incolmabile, la solitudine che ho provato in certi momenti, la lontananza dagli affetti e il distacco dagli altri figli e dalla famiglia, mi ha fatto capire che si deve trovare un modo affinché le cure si possano svolgere il più vicino possibile.

Non sempre attuabile, però...

Certo, ma la nostra esperienza insegna che non è impossibile. Se parliamo di tumori standard, una volta tracciato il protocollo di cura presso un centro specialistico come la Clinica Universitaria di Padova poi le cure possono essere eseguite in centri locali, purché attrezzati adeguatamente. È quello che state facendo a Vicenza?

Sì, la parte più importante è questa. Presso l’ospedale San Bortolo di Vicenza, in prossimità del Pronto Soccorso Pediatrico, abbiamo avuto in dono dall’Usl due stanze che stiamo attrezzando per le degenze, day hospital, due ambulatori per le visite e un ufficio, oltre alla sala d’attesa. Tutte le attrezzature sono all’avanguardia. La struttura è rivolta esclusivamente ai bambini e agli adolescenti che devono sottoporsi a chemioterapia, questi ultimi una categoria troppo spesso dimenticata che, invece, ha bisogno di massima considerazione. Sarà dotata di wifi, televisioni, giochi e quant’altro possa concorrere a far diventare il giorno di cure meno pesante a questi piccoli pazienti.

LO SPETTACOLO Giuseppe Giacobazzi con il suo spettacolo “Un po’ di me, genesi di un comico” sarà al Teatro comunale di Vicenza il 22 maggio 2015. L’evento avrà inizio alle 20 e 45. Un altro grande appuntamento organizzato da Team for Children per continuare la raccolta fondi destinata alle attività del nuovo Day Hospital Oncologico Pediatrico dell’Ospedale San Bortolo di Vicenza. Andrea Sasdelli, alias Giuseppe Gaicobazzi, porterà in scena il sui ultimo spettacolo: 20 anni di carriera in una sorta di ‘confessione privata’ del comico romagnolo che apre al pubblico il cassetto dei ricordi. Risate e riflessioni per due ore di spettacolo emozionante.

ing and we managed to raise 65 thousand Euros of the total 150 thousand needed to complete the work. Someone donated furniture, toys and other things. We accept everything, as long as useful.

Now I hope the companies of our region will participate and donate the most they can.

Una sfida importante, anche economicamente?

Sì, ma non impossibile. La solidarietà dei cittadini di Vicenza è stata straordinaria e ci ha permesso di raccogliere 65mila euro dei 150mila totali che ci occorrono per completare l’opera. Qualcuno ci ha donato dei mobili, altri giocattoli e altro ancora. Accettiamo tutto, purché sia utile. Ora mi auguro che siano le aziende del territorio a partecipare, donando il più possibile.

Vi occupate anche di altro?

Un aspetto molto importante è che diamo sostegno economico alle famiglie indigenti che hanno un bambino paziente oncologico. Ci sono casi drammatici di nuclei che non hanno nemmeno risorse e vanno sostenuti. Anche azioni più piccole, ma non meno importanti a cui tutti possono concorrere: comprare le mascherine, le aste portapompe (per le flebo di chemio) magari quelle di superman o di altri personaggi dei fumetti, i levacerotti. Per chi ha buona volontà e buon cuore non mancano le occasioni per fare del bene.

An important aspect is giving economic support to indigent families that have a child under therapy.

There are dramatic cases of families that have no resources and need support. Even the smaller things can make the difference: buying simple medical equipment for chemotherapy, maybe those with superman or other cartoon characters. Who has goodwill and a good heart always has the occasion to do good things.

Ursula Swoboda, fotografa e autrice di un libro fotografico intitolato Verona Intima, ci accompagna in un percorso alla scoperta di alcuni angoli meno noti della città scaligera.

Ursula Swoboda, photographer and author of the photographic book “Verona Intima” takes us to discover some less known places of this city.

You can look with eyes or with the soul. This is the synthesis of Ursula Swoboda’s thought, photographer and author of “Verona Intima”, which is more a reflection by images than a photographic book, as she explains in this interview.

Si può osservare con gli occhi o con l’anima. É un po’ questa la sintesi del pensiero di Urusula Swoboda, fotografa e autrice di Verona Intima che risulta essere più una riflessione per immagini che un libro fotografico. Come spiega l’autrice in quest’intervista.

When did you start photograph?

Quando inizia a fotografare?

Since I was a child, it always has been a strong passion. When I was 13, I understood it would have been a lifestyle, this feeling has always been with me and will forever be. You have it or you don’t. At 16 I realized my first reportage, on a sort of tsunami that occurred in the North Sea. There was a successful exhibition sponsored by the Bank of Ireland. It was the beginning of a path that still has to end.

Fin da bambina, è sempre stata una passione forte. A 13 anni, però, ho capito che sarebbe stato un modo di vivere, è un sentimento che porto dentro di me da sempre e per sempre. Ce l’hai o non ce l’hai. All’età di 16 anni ho realizzato il mio primo reportage, documentando una sorta di tsunami che avvenne nel mare del Nord. Piacque molto, ci fu una mostra, sponsorizzata dalla Banca d’Irlanda, di grande successo. Fu l’inizio di un percorso che ancora non è concluso.

A good start...

I tried to be lucky, I mean I searched for luck and followed what I wanted to do. This passion allowed me to travel and know the world from a specific point of view, the photography.

Un buon inizio...

Ho cercato di essere fortunata, nel senso che ho cercato la fortuna e seguito ciò che volevo fare. Questa passione mi ha permesso di viaggiare e conoscere il mondo attraverso un punto di vista specifico, quello della fotografia.

Where did the idea of the photo book “Verona Intima” come from?

Com’è nata l’idea del libro fotografico Verona Intima?

I live in this city since many years and I preside at “Goethe Zentrum”, Italian-German Culture Institute in Verona. For the fiftieth anniversary of the Centre, I thought it would be nice to pay homage to the city that hosts it and celebrate the two realities with an exhibition and a book that included the pictures of it. Every year the material on Verona kept on growing, so I decided to give it an identity.

Vivo in questa città da tanti anni e presiedo il Goethe Zentrum, Istituto di Cultura Italo-Tedesco di Verona. Per il cinquantesimo anniversario del Centro, ho pensato potesse essere bello omaggiare la città che lo ospita e festeggiare le due realtà con una mostra e un libro che ne racchiudesse le immagini.

Ogni anno il materiale su Verona cresceva e cresceva, così mi sono decisa a dare una forma a tutto questo, lasciarlo nel cassetto non serviva a nulla.

It’s a brave attempt, not definable, what inspired you?

È un tentativo coraggioso, non definibile, cosa l’ha ispirata? È una passeggiata dell’anima. Non è importante dove sono state scattate le fotografie. É importante che suscitino un’emozione, sia essa curiosità, stupore o qualsiasi altra. Di certo posso dire che non è una guida turistica e non vuole in nessun modo esserlo. Piuttosto una domanda: quanto tempo ti sei fermato a guardare? Un’ispirazione per osservare e vedere in modo diverso.

It’s a walk of the soul. It’s not important where the pictures have bee taken.

It’s important that they arouse an emotion, be it curiosity, astonishment or every other. I can surely say that is not a tourist guide and doesn’t want to be in any way. It’s rather a question: how much time you spent looking? An inspiration to watch and see in a different way.

A practice we’re not used to anymore...

Quest’epoca storica non aiuta, tutto corre e tutto si consuma in fretta.

Henri Cartier-Bresson diceva: per vedere le cose bisogna guardare, per guardare bisogna vedere. È un’attitudine e un’abitudine.

This historical moment doesn’t help, everything runs and consumes fast.

Henri Cartier-Bresson said: to see things you must look, to look you must see. It’s an attitude and an habit.

Oggi si tende ad avere un approccio consumistico anche all’arte e alla sua fruizione, è d’accordo?

Today people tend to have a consumerist approach even to Art and its fruition, you agree?

Lo lascio dire a lei, altrimenti sembra sempre che sia io ad essere ipercritica su questo tema. Purtroppo è così: superficialità, velocità, mercimonio. Sono tutte degenerazioni, disvalori che produce questa società e vanno combattuti.

Le persone finiscono con lo spuntare ciò che c’è da vedere, come fosse una caccia al tesoro fatta di tappe obbligate e, cosa ancor più triste, nemmeno creata da se stessi, ma sovente comprata a scatola chiusa.

I’ll let you say it, otherwise it looks like I’m always hypercritical on this topic. Unfortunately it’s like this: superficiality, velocity, commercialization.

They are all degenerations, disvalues produced by this society that must be fought. People end up ticking things to see, like it was a treasure hunt made of obligatory stops and, even more sadly, not even made by themselves, bought sight unseen.

Quindi bisogna riprendersi il proprio tempo e la capacità di guardare con i propri occhi?

So people have to take back their time and the capacity to look with their eyes?

Sì, con l’anima. Si può sbagliare, si può andare in cerca di supporti, di ispirazione. Ma poi sono i momenti a fare la differenza. Perdiamo istanti preziosi a scattare una fotografia col telefonino e ignoriamo il sorriso della

TAKING UP PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE AGE OF THIRTEEN, SHE ATTENDED COURSES IN PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE AND COMPOSITION. AFTER SECONDARY SCHOOL, SHE STUDIED TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING. SHE THEN SETTLED IN ITALY, WHERE SHE DEDICATED HERSELF TO HER THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. DURING THIS TIME HER PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS FOCUSED ON LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, AND SHE BECAME DIRECTOR OF THE “GOETHE-ZENTRUM” ITALO-GERMAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE. MUCH OF HER INSPIRATION CAME WHEN SHE BEGAN TRAVELLING, MOSTLY ALONE, IN ARAB COUNTRIES AND SOUTH-EAST ASIA. HER MAIN WISH WHEN TRAVELLING IS TO OBSERVE LIFE THROUGH HER OWN EYES, EXPERIENCING THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF GETTING TO KNOW HER FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS IN ALL THEIR DIVERSITY AND LEARNING TO APPRECIATE DIFFERENT CULTURES. STRIVING TO PICK OUT WHAT IS TRUE AND ESSENTIAL IN HER SUBJECTS, URSULA OPENS UP A PERSPECTIVE ON WORLDS, CULTURES AND INDIVIDUALS OFTEN SEPARATED BY GREAT DISTANCES, BUT ALWAYS CLOSE TO HER HEART. SHE EXHIBITED IN ITALY, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, ENGLAND AND IRELAND. SHE LIVES AND WORKS IN VERONA.

Un approccio, per l’appunto, intimistico alla fotografia?

Decisamente, alla fotografia che è una mediazione dell’osservare. Dobbiamo combattere l’omologazione, il credo che tutti possono fare tutto, il fatto che l’importante sia avere i ‘follower’ su Twitter o i ‘mi piace’ su Facebook. Così tutti hanno un pubblico, ma niente da dire. Rendendo ancor più sordo il primo.

Viene a mancare l’umiltà e il lavoro quotidiano, la capacità di attendere, selezionare e la tecnica per realizzare un progetto.

Qual è il principio ispiratore di Verona Intima?

Questo libro lo abbiamo fatto con il criterio della calma e dalla selezione.

Alcune immagini ritraggono un uomo in preghiera, altre uno che legge, immerso nella bellezza, dentro una dimensione di bellezza. Sono immagini trovate perseverando nella ricerca, nell’attesa, non costruite. Lo stesso vale per la fotografia che ritrae la statua di Madonna Verona avvolta dalla neve, uno scatto di un istante atteso per una mattina intera trascorsa sulla Torre dei Lamberti. E poi minuziosamente selezionato tra i tanti scattati quel giorno.

Così come per tutte le altre che compongono il volume.

person near us. 95% of people in Verona don’t recognize some details I portrayed. I tell them: you must have noticed something else, trying to find them it’s useless, try to learn to watch, see, keep it inside you without taking pictures just to forget them later.

Molti scatti, ritraggono diversi piani di visione, incroci di monumenti, di panorami e altro. Perché questa scelta?

A me piace molto la composizione dell’immagine, i piani prospettici e la geometria. Il rapporto matematico tra le figure. É quasi un libro monocolore, fatto di luce e geometrie precise, definite. Studiando l’architettura mediorientale, per esempio, si impara che tutto è composto da tre figure geometriche costanti: rettangolo, cerchio e semicerchio. Trasponendo questa logica, si possono individuare e seguire altre figure geometriche anche nella nostra architettura. Quando si comincia questo gioco, non si smette più.

Precisely, an intimistic approach to photography?

Absolutely, to photography which is a mediation of watching. We have to fight homologation, the belief that everybody can do anything, that having followers on Twitter and likes on Facebook it’s important. It this way, everybody has audience, but nothing to say. That involves a lack of humility and daily work, the capacity to wait and select and the technique to realize a project.

É ciò che preferisce immortalare?

What’s the inspiring principle of “Verona Intima”?

Il viso delle persone è ciò che più mi affascina...

We made this book meeting the criteria of calm and selection. Some pictures portray a praying man, other a reading one, immersed in a dimension of beauty. Images founded persevering in the research, waiting, not contrived. Same is for the photograph of the statue of Madonna Verona wrapped in the snow, a shot of an instant waited for a whole morning on the Lamberti tower. Every picture in the book has been minutely selected among many others.

Ursula Swoboda La vita di Ursula Swoboda è segnata da molteplici spostamenti.

Nata a Bratislava, trascorre i primi vent’anni in Germania dove, all’età di 13 anni, inizia a fotografare. In seguito frequenta diversi corsi di tecnica e composizione. Dopo la maturità e gli studi di traduttrice ed interprete, si trasferisce dalla Germania in Italia, dove interrompe la carriera fotografica per dedicarsi ai suoi tre figli che riempiono la sua vita. Da quarant’anni si occupa della diffusione della lingua e della cultura tedesca a Verona ricoprendo l’incarico di Presidente dell’Istituto di Cultura Italo-Tedesca/GoetheZentrum Verona. Riprende la fotografia, che aveva del tutto abbandonato, dopo i quarant’anni, iniziando a viaggiare per lo più da sola nei paesi arabi e nel sud-est asiatico, e ultimamente nei Paesi del Centro-America, per conoscere e vedere con i propri occhi, e per incontrare l’umanità in tutte le sue sfumature, vivendo emozioni e sperimentando culture in prima persona. Alla ricerca del vero e dell’essenziale, incontra mondi, culture e personaggi lontani ma vicinissimi al suo cuore. Ha esposto in Italia, Germania, Austria, Inghilterra e Irlanda. Vive e lavora a Verona.

MOTIVE

Several shots picture different visual plans, intersections of monuments, landscapes and other things. Why this choice?

I really like image composition, perspective plans and geometry. The mathematic relation between the figures. It’s almost a monochrome book, made of lights and defined geometries. Studying middle east architecture, for example, you learn that everything is composed by three constant geometric figures: rectangle, circle and semicircle. Transposing this logic, you can find and follow other geometric figures in our architecture. Once you start this game, you never stop.

Is this what you prefer to shoot?

The face of the people is what fascinates me more..

The management of a football club today, is comparable to the management of a big society in any other sector?

La gestione di una società di calcio, oggi, è equiparabile alla gestione di una grande società di qualsiasi altro settore?

Absolutely. Today’s football clubs are real companies with all expertise areas that these structures require, forcing who manage them to have the right approach, programming investments, shares, professional profiles, strategies and everything that constitute the work and life of a company.

The fact remains that these companies operate in a very particular sector, where an error in a game can affect the whole season.

Indubbiamente. Oggi le squadre di calcio sono vere e proprie società con tutte le aree di competenze che queste strutture prevedono, per tanto obbligano chi le gestisce ad un approccio adeguato allo scopo, ovvero programmando investimenti, azioni, profili professionali e strategie e tutto ciò che costituisce il lavoro e la vita di un’azienda. Resta il fatto che sono società in un settore molto particolare, perché è sufficiente che nell’arco dei novanta minuti qualcosa non vada per il verso giusto e può essere compromessa una stagione intera.

Luca Faccioli, 50 anni, è originario di Villafranca, già responsabile dell’area management e direttore generale del centro sportivo del Novara CALCIO è stato anche amministratore del Couver Tennis di Verona. Unisce alle capacità imprenditoriali una lunga esperienza professionale nel mondo dello sport. È stato professore di educazione fisica e si è diviso tra basket e calcio, lavorando come preparatore atletico nella Scaligera Basket. Ha svolto la sua attività con allenatori quali Alberto Bucci e Andrea Mazzon.

Con quest’ultimo ha vissuto la sua avventura greca al Panionios e successivamente lo ha seguito alla Fortitudo. Nel mondo del pallone, ha collaborato con Giuseppe Galderisi a Cremona, Venezia e Giulianova, con Luigi Sacchetti alla Berretti del Verona. Ha, in seguito, ritrovato Sacchetti nella positiva esperienza a Novara. Infine il Chievo Verona.

Questo dev’essere motivo di orgoglio di quanto di buono sia stato fatto e uno sprone a continuare a lavorare sodo per ottenere risultati importanti.

Una fucina di futuri talenti per il Chievo e per tutta la Serie A. Oltre a questo, al momento siamo molto concentrati sugli aspetti delle strutture e la nostra attenzione è focalizzata sull’ottimizzazione di questi aspetti.

The level of the Italian football championship reflects the general situation of the country that, unfortunately, is not one of the best. We have troubles with national teams and in all the other categories. It’s a picture of the society and mirrors some negative aspects. But this is not all: ideas, good will, constancy and some risk appetite can reverse the route. For football clubs as well as for all other companies.

Lo sport è una fucina di interessi incredibili che si possono evolvere in tantissime situazioni e direzioni. Il mondo del calcio porta una visibilità e una notorietà enormi e già questo è un motivo importante per investire nel pallone. Ma è anche un grande fattore di aggregazione di interessi e di ambiti per le società che entrano a farne parte: dal marketing al merchandising, dalla comunicazione alla solidarietà, dalla funzione sociale all’attenzione per la famiglia. Nascono sinergie economiche ma anche sociali. Lo sport può trasferire valori positivi e atteggiamenti proattivi di cui può beneficiare senz’altro anche il settore manageriale.

Il livello del campionato di calcio italiano ripercuote una situazione generale del Paese che, purtroppo, non è delle migliori. Abbiamo difficoltà con le Nazionali e, a caduta, anche con tutte le altre categorie. È uno spaccato della società e ne riflette alcuni aspetti negativi. Però, non ci si deve fermare a questo: idee, voglia di fare, spirito di iniziativa, costanza e una certa propensione al rischio, possono consentire di invertire la rotta. Nelle aziende del calcio quanto in tutte le altre.

Chi resiste nel mondo del calcio?

Chi ha lavorato bene, vive una buona condizione anche in questo momento. In generale i risultati rispecchiano il lavoro svolto, nulla arriva per caso. Ribadisco: soprattutto a lungo termine, momenti difficili capitano a tutti. Un margine di rischio c’è sempre, in tutte le attività e il calcio è, forse, anche più imprevedibile.

Nei mieli veronesi tutta l’identità di un territorio eccellente. Alla scoperta di un tesoro di casa nostra: luoghi, percorsi e manifestazioni dedicate a questo alimento.

Verona e la sua provincia: un insieme di terre generose che producono non poche eccellenze agroalimentari. Vini prestigiosi, sia rossi che bianchi. Un riso che è vanto nazionale. Senza dimenticare le produzioni ortofrutticole. Poi i formaggi, le carni e i salumi. Una ricchezza di sapori di tutto rispetto, che l’industria alimentare scaligera non manca di onorare sulle tavole internazionali. Dall’identità dei sapori di un territorio emerge la cultura e la storia che caratterizza la civiltà delle sue genti. Quella più volte raccontata da Dino Coltro nel presentare la tradizione delle tavole contadine veronesi.

Tra i tanti prodotti della terra veronese ne esiste uno troppo spesso ‘dimenticato’, anche se –più di altri- porta con sé i valori della sua terra d’origine: il miele.

Cibo naturale per eccellenza, il miele è esclusivo risultato della qualità delle fioriture presenti sul territorio che le api raccolgono laddove esse sbocciano.

All’uomo il compito di raccoglierlo all’interno dell’arnia, dove questi straordinari laboriosi insetti lo ripongono con cura in tante piccole celle.

L’ape è riconosciuta come la prima sentinella della qualità ambientale di un territorio: testimone da sempre della perfetta simbiosi della terra con le caratteristiche climatiche e morfologiche, che segnano lo sviluppo spontaneo delle piante e dei fiori presenti in quella specifica area geografica.

Se sul territorio veronese, i borghi antichi, i castelli, le Pievi raccontano la storia, la cultura e le tradizioni che accompagnano la storia degli uomini, i mieli veronesi offrono un’istantanea unica dell’ambiente naturale che fa da sfondo: le fioriture della pianura, quelle delle nostre colline e della nostra montagna, sono una ‘istantanea straordinaria’ del panorama natura, calato nei colori e nei sapori dei mieli di acacia, di castagno, di tarassaco, di tiglio, di ciliegio, di erba medica e delle melate montane.

Qualcuno potrebbe affermare che i mieli d’acacia e di castagno sono mieli ‘standard’, presenti su tutto il territorio italiano. Tale semplicismo ci porterebbe a dire che in Italia ci sono vini bianchi e vini neri, mentre è divenuta cultura condivisa collegare la specificità di ogni vino al proprio

Among lots of products of the land of Verona, one is often ‘forgotten’, even if, more than others, brings with it the values of its land: honey.

Natural food par excellence, honey is the exclusive result of the quality of land’s nectar, that bees take from the flowers wherever they grow.

The man has the duty to take it from the hive, where the laborious insects put it many little cells.

The bee is commonly known as a factor in judging the environmental quality of a territory: witnesses the perfect symbiosis of the ground with climate and morphologic characteristics, that mark the spontaneous growth of plants and flowers in that specific area.

All around Verona, if ancient villages and castles tell the story, culture and traditions that follow the history of men, honeys offer a unique picture of the natural environment that stands behind them: the flowering of flatlands, hills and mountains. An incredible natural landscape, lost in the colours and flavours of honeys from many different trees and plants like acacia, dandelion, linden, cherry, medical herbs and from mountain honeydew.

Someone could say that acacia and chestnut honeys are ‘standard’ honeys, available all over the country. This oversimplification may lead us to say the same thing for black and white wines, but it’s a know fact that is the land of origin that defines the identity of a product.

For these reasons, Verona honeys should find their place next to the large variety of gastronomic specialty. At least to thank our local bees for the important contribution they give with their pollination service, fundamental for our provincial fruit and vegetable heritage.

An important event that in 2001 promoted the birth of “Le Città Del Miele”, the national network of territories that produce italian honeys.

It’s the Italy of Honeys: the only country in the world that can claim over 60 different kinds of honeys, many of whom unique in the world thanks to their land of origin.

Looking at the territories of Verona with the eyes of our honeys: the valleys of Lessinia, Monte Baldo and Valdadige in the colours, scents and flavours of honeys made from acacia, chestnut, linden and mixed-flowers.

Rediscover the botanical heritage of Garda’s hills in the medical herb honey. Admire the simplicity of the spring flowering of our flatland in the dandelion honey.

An invitation to be guided from the product honey to live in a different way the nature’s scenario: in his simplicity, learning to live honey not only as a healthy product, natural remedy for the traditional autumnal sore throat, but discovering his food value. As in its historical heyday: Renaissance, when cooks in kitchen of big Houses used it in boiled or roasted meat to point out the importance, wealth and power of the Lords for whom they cooked.

Per queste ragioni a fianco delle tante specialità gastronomiche veronesi dovrebbero trovare, non senza vanto, spazio anche i mieli veronesi. Se non altro per ringraziare le api scaligere del loro importante contributo che danno con il servizio d’ impollinazione, senza il quale il nostro patrimonio provinciale di ortofrutta non sarebbe tale.

Non a caso anche i mieli veronesi vantano inconsciamente alcuni primati noti più a livello nazionale, che provinciale: la più importante ‘Fiera dei Mieli’ quale è l’appuntamento annuale de I giorni del miele che il Comune di Lazise organizza sulle rive del Garda, richiamando apicoltori e consumatori da tutta Italia. Un evento importante che ha promosso nel 2001 la nascita de Le Città del Miele: la rete nazionale dei territori che danno origine e identità ai mieli italiani. È l’Italia dei Mieli: Paese unico al mondo a vantare oltre 60 diverse tipologie di mieli, molti dei quali unici a livello internazionale proprio in virtù del loro territorio d’origine.

Guardare il territorio veronese con gli occhi dei nostri mieli: le vallate della Lessinia, del Monte Baldo e della Valdadige nei colori, nei profumi e nei sapori dei mieli di acacia, castagno, tiglio e del millefiori. Riscoprire il patrimonio botanico delle colline gardesane nel miele di erba medica.

Riammirare la semplicità delle fioriture primaverili delle nostre aree di pianura nel miele di tarassaco.

Un invito a farsi guidare dal prodotto miele per vivere in modo diverso lo scenario della natura: nella sua semplicità, imparando a vivere il miele non solo come prodotto salutistico, panacea naturale per il tradizionale mal di gola di primo autunno, quanto piuttosto a scoprirlo nel suo valore di cibo. Com’è nel suo ‘dna’ storico di massimo splendore: il Rinascimento nel suo splendore in cucina, quando i cuochi dei grandi casati lo utilizzano nei bolliti o negli arrosti per evidenziare l’importanza, la ricchezza e il potere dei Signori per i quali cucinavano.

Scopriremmo che in cucina i mieli sanno essere partner ideali di quella cucina di tradizione legata ai tanti e diversi territori dei Comuni italiani.

E se i mieli siciliani sposano bene le grigliate di tonno, o accompagnano splendidamente i grandi formaggi piemontesi, in terra scaligera il miele millefiori della Lessinia sposa splendidamente il nostro vialone nano, il miele di tiglio con la sua aromaticità sensibile offre un piacere diverso al primo castagnaccio d’autunno. Così come il gusto deciso del miele di castagno completa i sapori di un bel carrello di carni arrosto.

La moderna passione per la cucina assegna ai diversi mieli italiani la missione innovativa di promuovere le produzioni agroalimentari tipiche, la cultura dell’ospitalità che le accompagnano, assegnando ai tanti e diversi nostri mieli il ruolo di nuovo promoter del territorio.

Due ricette ai mieli veronesi TWO RECIPES WITH VERONA HONEYS anche il prosciutto, il burro e il miele, mantecando bene il composto.

Ricetta Filetti di Trota al Rosmarino con miele di acacia del Garda Risotto di vialone nano al miele di millefiori di montagna Ingredienti • 350 gr di riso • 1 litro e mezzo di brodo vegetale • 20 gr di burro • 1 cucchiaio di cipolla tritata • 30 gr di prosciutto tagliato alla julienne • 2 cucchiai di parmigiano grattugiato • 2 tuorli d’uovo • 1 cucchiaio di miele millefiori • Sale e pepe q.b.

• cannella q.b.

• 1 bustina di zafferano Preparazione Far bollire il brodo. In una casseruola far soffriggere dolcemente la cipolla con un po’ d’olio. Aggiungere il riso, tostandolo. Aggiungere il brodo e lasciar cuocere il riso mescolandolo. A parte sbattere le uova con il parmigiano, il pepe e la cannella. Sciogliere in una tazza lo zafferano con un cucchiaio di brodo.

Aggiungere il tutto al riso, unendo

Ricetta per 6 persone • 4 filetti di trota • 2 rametti di rosmarino • 5 cucchiai miele d’acacia • insalatina tenera di stagione • qualche pomodoro • olio e.v. oliva • sale q.b.

Preparazione Lavare l’insalata e i pomodori, asciugarli e affettarli, tritare il rosmarino. Scaldare in una padella antiaderente due cucchiai di olio e i cinque di miele, poi i filetti di trota appoggiandoli sulla parte della pelle, salare, pepare e aggiungere il rosmarino. Coprire e cuocere per 3 - 4 minuti, non di più, in questo modo si otterrà un pesce morbido ma con la pelle.

RISOTTO WITH VIALONE NANO RICE AND MIXED-FLOWERS MOUNTAIN HONEY

TROUT FILLET WITH ROSEMARY AND ACACIA HONEY FROM GARDA

Ingredients - 350g vialone nano rice - 1,5 l vegetal broth - 20g butter - 1 spoon of minched onion - 30g ham cut in Julienne - 2 spoons of freshly grated Parmigiano - 2 egg yolks - 1 spoon of Mixed-flowers honey - Salt and Pepper, to taste - Cinnamon, to taste - 1 saffron bag

Serves: 6 - 4 trout fillets - 2 rosemary branches - 5 spoons of acacia honey - seasonal soft salad - some tomato - extra virgin olive oil - salt, to taste

Directions Boil the broth. Sweetly brown the onion with a little bit of oil. Add rice, toasting it. Add the broth and let cook the rice mixing it. A side, beat the eggs with parmigiano, pepper and cinnamon. In a cup, melt saffron with a spoon of broth. Add all to the rice, with ham, butter and honey.

Cook until creamy.

Directions Wash salad and tomatoes, dry and slice them, minch the rosemary. In a non-stick pan, warm up two spoons of oil and five spoons of honey, then add the trout fillets skin sides down.

Add salt, pepper and rosemary. Cover and cook for 3 - 4 minutes, not more, so the fish will remain soft.
