›Kapı‹, İstanbul’da Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi’ nde dahil olduğum erasmus programı sürecinde gerçekleştirdiğim bir projedir. Tüm fotoğraflar bu süreç içinde birbirine komşu iki mahalle sayılabilecek ›Emniyetevler‹ ve ›Yeni Levent‹ te çekilmiştir. Kapıları fotoğraflama fikri, şehri keşfettiğim süreçte neredeyse her köşe başında kendini belli eden zengin ve fakir ayrımını farketmemle başladı. Ve bu gözlemin ardından bu zıtlığı görsel bir biçimde nasıl çözümleyeceğimi, zengin fakir arasındaki bu sözkonusu uçurumu nasıl gösterebileceğimi düşünürken çıktı. Kapılar, özellikle giriş kapıları, temel olarak bireylerin gelir düzeyleriyle alakalı ilk izlenimlerdir. Birinin özel alanına girmeden hemen önce kapısını görürüz. Bu anlamda kapılar, Türk toplunun gelir düzeylerindeki uyuşmazlığı göstermesi bakımından en uygun göstergelerden biri olabilir.

›Kapı‹ (English: door) is a project real ized during my erasmus program at the ›Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University‹ in Istanbul, Turkey, during the spring semester of 2014. All pictures were taken in the areas of ›Emniyetevler ‹ and ›Yeni Levent ‹, two neighborhoods of Istanbul. I came up with the idea of cre ating a photographic work about doors while exploring the city, recognizing that the contrast between rich and poor can be found in every corner all around the town. After this observation I searched for a visual approach and solution to show and emphasize this contradiction of society, so the ›Kapı‹ project was born. Doors basically present the wealth standard of a person, the door, es pecially the entry door, is the first impression a person gets before entering someone’s private space. This is why the door is an object which is approp riate in order to show the discrepancy of wealth standards within the Turkish community.
