All photographs for the 'KAPI' ('door') project were taken in the two bordering neighbourhoods of 'Emniyetevler' and 'Yeni Levent' in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. The idea of creating a photographic work about doors came up with the realisation of a dramatic gap between the rich and the poor. In order to visualize and clearly illustrate this discrepancy, photographs of various entry doors have been opposed to each other. A front door and its facade obviously represent the wealth standard of a person at first sight. For that reason, it can be taken as an object of reference, revealing the social status of a family or an individual.
