GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Ever since I retired, I have treasured my mornings. I rarely need to set the alarm clock; I wake up to the sounds of birds and I don’t have to rush. I make my cup of tea and settle in with my kitties. I browse the news, then I like to play some puzzles crossword, sudoku, etc. Recently I found a puzzle called Cryptogram, where letters represent numbers, and you solve the puzzle to discover an interesting fact or a famous quote:

THE

MONA LISA IN THE LOUVRE HAS HER OWN MAILBOX BECAUSE OF ALL THE LOVE LETTERS SHE RECIEVES.

I had to stop and think about that for a couple of minutes.

“To bad she can’t read them” was one.

“It must feel so good to receive one” was another.

I may not normally send or receive love letters, but there’s no reason not to give a compliment.

Receiving a compliment can feel like a spark of warmth lighting up inside you. It's a moment of affirmation, where someone acknowledges something good about you—your kindness, your skills, your appearance, or even just the

way you carry yourself. Compliments can catch you off guard, making you pause, smile, and bask in a glow of appreciation. Sometimes, they bring a surge of confidence, reminding you of your worth and abilities. Other times, they create a sense of connection, strengthening bonds with the person who took the time to say something kind. There might even be a flicker of surprise or humility, especially if you're not used to being praised. But in the best moments, compliments feel like a little burst of joy, a reassurance that you are seen, valued, and celebrated.

Don’t be shy. Say something kind. A compliment can light up someone’s day. Chance are you will give them a boost that will last a long time.

If giving a compliment makes you feel good, Imagine how good you will feel if you write an old-fashioned love letter. You can get out a nice piece of paper and a nice pen and in your own handwriting tell them how much you love them. Write to your spouse, your child or your grandchild. They probably already know but put it in writing for them to treasure forever.
