The Orchard Residents Association GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tere a whole bunch of quotes about learning something new every day. These days I feel like I’m forgetting more than I learn!

But this last month was different. I went on vacation to Kona, on the big island Hawaii, and learned many things, such as:

Hawaii is still as beautiful as ever.

Getting there can take 12 hours and require walking 2.5 miles.

Luggage is no longer free.

Bring your own meals on the plane.

Sitting in front of the plane is nice, but if you’re in the back row you can make lots of friends as they wait in line for the bathroom.

There are very nice (younger) people ready and willing to help you crawl over the rocks to get out of the water

If you hike down a very steep hill in the botanical gardens on a hot day, the hike back up will be twice as steep and the weather twice as hot.

If you meditate very hard you can turn the sound of constant flushing into the sound of the surf.

Vacationing with your four-year-old granddaughter is a blast!

If you want to snorkel in choppy waters, use a noodle.

Wear a mask on the plane, even if no one else is. Because five days after getting home you may suddenly come down with chills, fever and a pain in your back.

Even if you had the pneumonia vaccine, you can still get pneumonia.

Call the doctor when your temperature is 103 and the pain gets worse. If you wait till tomorrow, you might get sepsis(!) and spend three days in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

Recovery takes time, and you might not have lots of energy to fill the Grapevine with interesting stuff.

Your friends and neighbors will still love you and forgive the skimpy Grapevine.

Aloha.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION

CHECK OUT THE SAUNAS

●Did you know that there are saunas in the clubhouse for resident use? There is one in the women’s and one in the men’s restroom. A great place to unwind and warm up now that colder weather is coming!

FALL HOMESITE CLEANUP

●The rains are coming! Now is a good time to clean out your gutters and all around your home to allow for adequate drainage.

GUEST PARKING

● A reminder, guest parking is for your guests. Residents may not use guest parking to store extra vehicles, vehicles that are inoperable, etc. Cars that are not identified as guest vehicles are in danger of getting towed.

POWER OUTAGE INFORMATION

The best way to find out when the power will be restored is to contact PG&E directly. 1-800-743-5000. They will not ask for an account number, they will ask for your address and when you give them that information, they will tell you approximately when the power will be restored.

When there is an outage, management IMMEDIATELY contacts PG&E to identify the problem and schedule repairs.

Quote of the Month

“You can’t stop the future. You can’t rewind the past. The only way to live is to press play and dance” Marcandangel
