IMPORTANT DATES –

Message from the Board

▪ Free Food Saturday – check the calendar (last page) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – please remember - two items per person until 10:30 a.m., after that time you are welcome to take more food. Also, Hilda has a “tip dish” to help Sheldon with his gas expense to make these deliveries to us!

▪ July 4th KFC lunch – 1pm

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS - Kudos to those who have been helping their neighbors. Also, THANKS to those volunteers for all the different committees in our park!

Pool USE – If a member requests use of the Clubhouse Facilities, a reminder that exclusive use of the facilities does not extend to the pool or jacuzzi for any event. If the pool or jacuzzi are used, guests must adhere to all signage. NO children under the age of 15 shall be permitted to use the spa/jacuzzi. Pool hours for kids are from 9am to 3pm – NO exceptions!

Volunteers – We realized that we are over 55 in the park, some are beyond that young age, but if you are able to volunteer for a committee (check with a committee chair), or might want to run for a position on the board when there is an opening, please consider helping in our community.

ZELLE - We will be accepting ZELLE for monthly assessment payments soon. Watch for our update.

Vista Senior Center Newsletter – If you are interested in reading the McClellan Senior Center newsletter, you can sign-up for their monthly newsletter and to receive updates on Senior Services here: https://www.cityofvista.com/city-services/recreation-comm-services/seniorservices/monthly-newsletter

Automated System – OneCallNow was used last month to remind everyone about the Members Meeting. Hopefully that was a good test of our new system. Watch for improvements! As of 5/10/25, only 63 units have returned their information sheets.

Members Keys in Office – When the Health and Welfare check was done on Nancy Andrews unit, space 24, a window was broken to gain access instead of the door being kicked in – because there was NO KEY in the office. There are other reasons to have a spare key in the office. Please don’t wait.

Dog Park – Recently it has been reported that many people are NOT picking up after their dogs. Tools have been added to assist along with bags. Please don’t abuse this as I would hate to have to close it for a month should this continue to be a problem. Remember – you are on CAMERA!

Walking your Dog – All Pet droppings, wherever deposited, shall be picked up by the owner, wrapped appropriately and placed immediately into an outside trash bin. Please respect the rights of our neighbors – PICK IT UP!

Speed Limit – Slow Down! The Security Committee has reported that more and more people are “speeding” through the park. We know that 10 mph is a snail’s pace but please remember that we’re a bunch of “old” folks. We walk slowly; we’re losing our hearing; our eyesight is diminishing; our attention isn’t always particularly focused; and we often cross the street midstream. So PLEASE SLOW DOWN. Stop at the stop signs. Take corners slowly. One of these days it may be you out walking and a “speeder” comes barreling down the street just as you step into it. Also please advise your “GUESTS” to observe the Speed Limit as well. Thank you!

Fruit Trees – If you have fruit trees in your yard, you are responsible for picking up those that have fallen to help prevent feeding the rodents. Please keep your yard picked up.

Newsletter – Please have your articles in for the next month’s newsletters by the 10th. Also, if anyone would like to take over the requirement to submit our newsletter to the publisher, please contact Bruce, space 120. You must be highly computer literate with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Clubhouse Updates – Installation of the new windows should begin at the beginning of June. The windows are going to be dual pane with UV protection. The purpose for the upgrade was to reduce the summer heat and winter cold into the club house. There will be other updates occurring as we progress

Trash – A reminder that when you place boxes in the “PROPER” recycle bin, they should be FLATENED – Doors and other Furniture should NOT be placed here. Below is an example of some “IDIOT” that does not understand these simple rules: It only takes a few moments to FLATTEN boxes! DO IT!!!

Parking on the Streets – Just a reminder that we do have one side of each street marked for “FIRE LANE – NO PARKING”. It seems to be that some people continue to ignored the obvious street markings, however please be advised that Western Towing can come in at any time and TOW that vehicle that is in violation. It’s “RED” because it is marked for “TOWING”. You or your guests can park on the proper side of the street and not have to worry – just don’t block anyone’s drive ways.

Newsletter Digital Copy – If you would like to read the newsletter online – here is the address which is refreshed every “FIRST” of the month: https://mobilehomeparkmagazines.com/vista-village/

Homeless Villages & Animal Shelter Contributions

The last day for your appreciated contributions this month is Tuesday, June 24, 2025. For the homeless, pleasedonate only useable items such as clean clothing, small appliances, etc. The Villages, which now include a new “De-Tox Center” to assist many in finding and maintain a job, is the only organization providing collection services for the homeless in San Diego County. The Humane Society’s Shelters, one for dogs and another for cats and other small animals, prefer towels, blankets (no comforters, please), pet toys, and unopened pet food. Frank Kirby delivers these items to the Shelters in Oceanside as appropriate. Please leave all your donations on the front porch at Unit 113. Frank also has receipts for all donations for anyone interested. Both the Villages and Shelters greatly appreciate your assistance in these matters.

The Story of Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.

The story may be confusing, but the message is clear.

No one took responsibility so nothing got accomplished.

QUOTES

Less ego, more wealth. Saving money is the gap between your ego and your income, and wealth is what you don't see. So wealth is created by suppressing what you could buy today in order to have more stuff or more options in the future.

Morgan Housel

More people can be greater leaders than they think they can, but they need a purpose greater than themselves.

William J. Clinton, 42nd president of the United States.

Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.

Frequently attributed to Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United State

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan, "Press on," has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States, from a sign on his desk.

Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error.

Andrew Jackson, 7th president of the United States

Live without pretending, Love without depending, Listen without defending, Speak without offending.

Aubrey Drake Graham (Drake), Recording artist, songwriter

If Trivial Pursuit had been designed by economists, it would have had 100 questions and 3,000 answers.

The Lighter Side

Rice Preference

The young woman really thought she'd been very patient through a protracted period of dating with no talk of marriage.

One night her steady boyfriend took her to a Chinese restaurant. As he perused the menu, he casually asked her, "So . . . how do you like your rice? Boiled? Steamed? Or fried?"

Without missing a beat, she looked over her menu at him and replied clearly, "Thrown."

Talking Clock

While proudly showing off his new apartment to friends late one night, one wag led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong.

"What's that big brass gong for?" one of the guests asked.

"Why, that's the talking clock," the man replied. "Watch", the man said, giving the gong an ear-shattering pound with a hammer.

Suddenly, someone on the other side of the wall screamed, "F'gosh sakes, you idiot, it's 2 a.m. in the morning!"

Apples

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."
