Summer is in full swing. People are using the pool. Gardens areblooming. Vacations are planned. Sun Block is sold out at the stores. Instead of complaining about the rain or cold, we’re sometimes grumpy with the heat. Ahhh…. Life goes on.
First, the intent of the Villager is solely to inform you of upcoming events, to celebrate past events, to recognize residents, and to bring out the best in all of us. The Villager is totally unbiased in all matters. Any indication of such is merely accidental and unintended.
Although we have few activities planned for the month of July, ongoing activities remain open to all!!! The pool is warm, and Aqua Aerobics occurs every weekday at 3PM. If you want to get out of the heat, the clubhouse has both a pool ANDping-pong table ready for immediate use. Card games are still happening. Although several books have disappeared out of our library, we still have a wide variety of books from which to choose. Craft room get-togethers occur most mornings at 10AM.We have plenty of activities from which to choose if you want to be busy. Or, create your own activities. You are always welcome to joinfriends in the courtyard for a casual dinner, or pullout the corn hole boards or horse-shoes for some friendly outdoor competition. The biggest advantage I see of living here is the choice to be engaged with others or not. Friendships are readily available.
I hope you are all attending the BoardBarbecue on the 4th of July. Also, the resultsfrom the upcoming Board election will be announced at the July 14 Board Meeting. To find out and welcome our newboard member(s), plan to attend the 6PM meeting.
I want to extend a special thanks to Tamsen Fox for making all the flyers you see in the Villager AND for being so darn picky in proofreading my entrees!!Without her help, you would be lookingfor a new Villager Editor.
Here’s to enjoying our summer months!

Featured Resident Deb Clemens
Deb’s familyhas lived here since the Village was created in 1975!At that time, there was no age limit, so families with children filled the yards and streets. In fact, the Country Club did not yet exist! Deb has lived here off and on until she moved in permanently in 2019. Her sister, Patty Sewall, lives here also, so the Village is definitely home.
Deb has a Masters in Educational Leadership. She retired from the world of education in 2018. She taught K-8 until she moved into the role of Instructional Coach. Her favorite grades were 2nd and 8th, and her favorite subject was Language Arts. Before her career in education and after working at Pacific Bell for 10 years, she owned a gardening business. At Pac Bell, she worked as an operator and in Customer Service in Business Accounts.
Deb is Mom to twins, a daughter living in San Diego and a son in Stockton. Her daughter works remotely in marketing for the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito. Her son works for Amazon. Although she is yet to become a grandmother, she has high hopes.
Deb wants you to know that her strength is in resolving conflicts. She sees both sides of issues and has empathy for all parties involved. She has served on several committees and groups, often in leadership roles. She loves Rancho Murieta and getting to knowpeople who live here.

Burn Your Own Meat
What IS this thing called Burn Your Own Meat???
1. It’s an informal gathering of residents on the patio.
2. It’s an opportunity to play pool, ping pong, orcorn hole. When it’s reallyhot, it’s a time to swim or hot tub.
What do we bring???
1. Something to Barbecue
2. A side dish to share
3. Place setting(s) Does it cost anything?
1. Nope
TheWarringtonsand Reasonshosted thefirst BYOM of the season.Withthe helpof Dan& Chips, the guys got the barbecues working and the tables set up. With the help of Mike, Judi and Nancy blew up the ice containers for the salads. The Kramers got the corn hole competition started, and Mike & his compressor set up the ping pong table. The cover was removed from the pool table and games were enjoyed by all!!! Judi made an amazing Kahlua, coconut, banana bundt cake!! Jalene Coe doctored watermelon into an amazing creation. Other side dishes filled us up. This event is always open to all.
The
Competition
What is that? It’s a bean bag, Shane.
Yep. The bean bag goes in that little hole.
You’ve got it!!
The prettystripped red ball in the corner pocket.
Taco Truck
The T-Shirts and Sweatshirts are here!!!
AND, they are wonderful!!!
The tri-color quail really stands out against the dark blue. Thank you to Deb Clemens for organizing, ordering, and delivering them. Although ordering was complicated due to the number of options available, we all appreciate the choice of long or short sleeve, women’s V-neck or crew, zip or pull-over sweatshirts, and large or small logo on center of front ORback OR front topcorner. WOW!!! What a deal!!What better way to create a sense of community thanto don matching garb. So, let’s wear them proud!
Bingo Dilemma
How big is the pot when SIX (6) people yellBINGO at the same time???
Board BBQ Show off your patriotic colors at the Board Barbecue!!
Whether you won or lost at Bingo, it doesn’t matter! It’s free for residents!
Bunco
Okay. We admit that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to play Bunco, but who doesn’t love a chance to gab with friends over a mindless game??? Granted, by the time play is over, all those dots seem to run together. And you’ll hear the usual, “Whose turn is it?” and “What number are we on?” It’s actually comforting to knowthat we all suffer from a tiny bit of short-term memory loss. If you are interested in playing and are not on the esteemed Bunco list, let the office know you would like to be added. Bobbie is an avid game player and will contact the appropriate people to get you added.
Trash & Treasures
What asuccessful event!Everyone had a great time and said they all made money!! The atmosphere was festive, the donuts sold out immediately, and everyone enjoyed a hot dog. The weather was perfect!Try as I may not to buy anything, every time I leftmy post, I came back with a “Treasure!”
ABIG THANK YOU TO…
Tamsen Fox for making the roadsigns, complete with laminated arrows.
Dan Richardson and Chips Warrington for putting up andtaking down the road signs, AND for buying and cooking the hot dogs.
Melanie & Paul Kramer for buying and selling the donuts.
Kathy Decker for providing the money box and “cash float,” for reimbursing everyone for purchases, and for making our final deposit.
John James, Mike Flannigan, and all the above people for setting up and taking down all the tables.
Ginny Seminara for her moral support.
As you allknow, we do NOT have a maintenance person. I was so inspired by the willingness of residents to jump in andhelp.
