RESIDENT COUNCIL

The Resident Council met with park owners/management and here is the outcome of that meeting.

1. The need for functional washers and dryers in the south side laundry room: Management will consider how to proceed in the coming months. The washer and dryer facility are not a money maker for management, and they thought about taking it out altogether because of the low number of residents that use it. The council requested to keep the Laundromat and, if possible, to replace the washers and dryers with commercial grade. No resolution yet.

2. Streetlights need refurbishing, new paint and bolts to hold covers on (this has been a recurring issue). Management indicated walkway lights have all been replaced and will consider painting all the light poles. Bolts to hold covers – unsure as of this writing.

3. Orange cleanup signs will be placed for the residents who haven’t yet cleaned and maintained their yards.

4. Sewage issue on the South side (Shady Oaks) cul de sac: management is aware and will do what they can to fix or clean up.

5. Overnight parking is an issue, NO OVERNIGHT PARKING in PUBLIC/GUEST SPACES is against park rules and regulations and no more than 2 cars can be parked in a driveway.

6. Clubhouse doors and rodent problems have all been fixed and park management has indicated a clubhouse remodel is in the planning.

Resident Council is still seeking volunteers to be on the board (President, Vice President and Secretary). If no volunteers step up, then this council and article will cease to exist. Please consider volunteering 1 hour a month. Thank you.

Jennifer is the new office assistant and her hours are 1pm-6pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday…1pm-3pm on Friday. Go in and say hi..

Next meeting Wednesday, October 15th at 3:30pm in the clubhouse.

Lots of things running through my mind right now (I went to Costco for my birthday – now where will I put 36 rolls of toilet paper?...I just bought a case of Izzy’s FAVORITE WET FOOD and now she has decided she doesn’t like it at all…what else can I do to encourage folks to come to the dinners and remember to RSVP?...and most important – start planning what costume to wear for the Halloween Dinner…}

But here’s what’s on my mind most …

We have always been entitled to our own opinions, even when they weren’t the same as our neighbors. In fact, differing points of view are healthy for our education and to increase our understanding of each other. Lately, it seems, we have become less tolerant and more divisive. At my age, I need all the friends I can get…If I stay away from an activity that I love because I don’t agree with someone, who am I hurting??? What am I learning? But enough about that…

I really feel that we need bushels of kindness now (and always)…we don’t have to agree with someone else’s ideas – in fact we will not change other’s beliefs and vice versa. Let’s agree to disagree and do it with kindness and respect and get on with our lives, learning and laughing and making the best of every day. My mother used to call me PollyAnna sometimes, and in my head I would say “thank you”. (I never said it outloud…I’m at least a little smarter than I look!) So let’s keep coming to dinner, painting birdhouses and rocks, playing cards, and saying hello to all our neighbors.

Stay cool and remember that the clubhouse is air conditioned if you need to get out of your house. There are books and puzzles and television down there too. Keep yourselves well!

Love, Mikki (the Pigs in a Blanket lady) P.S. It’s not cold now but the pigs really need blankets…

Things to Remember

Glenys Pabst will take names for the memorial garden plaques. Please be aware that we have to have several names before the engraver makes the plaque. We remember residents who have passed on or moved out of the park by putting their names on those plaques. Give her a call at 916-790-7019 to get more details or to ask for more information. She’s anxious to talk to you!

Lunch Bunch – October 8, 11:30 – Andy’s Kitchen – 916-353-1818 located at 153 Iron Point Road. Call Marcia for more information @ 630-351-1118. Remember to leave your number so she can call you back if you leave a message.

BINGO at Pinebrook at 6:30 on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Enjoy the socialization and wonderful desserts at intermission. Maybe you’ll even win a few bucks… PutYourBlueCansoutonOctober13thand27th.

Bus to Redhawk

October 24 - Bus is free and leaves from Lakeside Park at 8:45. Leaves Red Hawk for home at 2:00 – call Lynn Spencer at 916-201-7387 to save a seat.

PLEASE TEXT or CALL MIKKI AT 916-806-3025 IF I MISS YOU OR ONE OF YOUR NEIGHBORS OR EVEN IF I MISSPELL YOUR NAME

TEXT ME IF SOMEONE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OR ADDED TO THE LIST FOR NEXT YEAR. I DON’T ALWAYS KNOW IF SOMEONE LEAVES OR MOVES IN. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS. THANK YOU!!!

Lake Park Estates Homeowner’s Association

As homeowners in the Lake Park Estates Mobile Home Park, all of us value our residency here, whether you have lived here for years, or perhaps you just recently moved to our Park. As owners, we all share a vital interest in the smooth operation of our Park and continued residency here far into the future. To that end, our Homeowner’s Association (HOA) is known formally as the Lake Park Estates Association, Inc., and has been a registered non-profit with the State of California since our inception in 1991. We are asking each non-member to please consider joining – the lifetime fee is only $25 (or sliding scale)!

None of us wants to even entertain the remote possibility of ownership change of our Park -- and we put emphasis on the fact that there is NO indication at present that there will be any change to the current ownership at any time in the future. An organized framework such as an established HOA simply supports assured continued residency should ownership of our Park ever change due to some unforeseen circumstances. The purpose of this pre-established HOA is to assist us in shifting into gear with our option to purchase our Park should that very distant possibility ever arise.

We are stronger together: of the nearly 190 total homes in our park, we currently have 82 HOA shareholders in our LPE non-profit corporation. Become a member of the HOA and have a say in the decision-making process. We need YOU, your energy, your ideas, and support!

If you are already a member, please know we greatly value your choice, and welcome your participation, suggestions, and feedback. If you are considering membership, we sincerely look forward to welcoming you as a new member – contact one of the Board members now!

LIFE and DEATH:

The plumber fixes a leak in the doctor’s house – then bills him for $1,000.

“This is ridiculous?” the doctor says. “I don’t even charge that much.”

The plumber says, “Neither did I when I was a doctor.”

FAMILY AND FRIENDS:

Anyone with toddlers knows that trying to control them is like herding cats. So I was impressed by a parenting trick of my husband’s.

Our two-year-old bolted out of our van in a busy parking lot, by my husband got him to stay put by shouting. “Hands on the van.”

“Where’d you learn that?” I asked.

“From that TV show.”

“Supernanny? Nanny 911?”

“No” he said. “Cops.”
