Next Month’s Bingo After Dark is April 29th at 6:00pm See you ALL there!!

The Quail Run Architectural Review Committee (ARC) is comprised of resident volunteers who are familiar with the Quail Run Rules and Regulations pertaining to landscape, painting, construction, and other topics delegated to them for review. The ARC gets a lot of repeat questions and will address one of those questions or an ARC-related topic in each Quail Quill.

This month’s question: “Is it okay to install artificial turf in place of natural grass?”

Answer:: There are a few rules related to artificial turf at Quail Run. First, the specific turf you want to install must be approved by the ARC. There are literally dozens of artificial turf products to choose from. The ARC is looking for turf that looks as real as possible. The committee recently compiled a storage bin filled with samples from various suppliers in the North County that they have pre-approved for use in the Park. If you are planning to install artificial turf in your yard, you can save yourself a lot of time by going to the Office and looking through the samples that are pre-approved. By choosing one from the collection, you will know the ARC will approve your request as long as all other requirements are met. If you choose to use a turf not in the pre-approved collection, you must submit a sample with your ARC Request form for the committee’s review.

The other thing to know about installing artificial turf is that State law requires landscapers installing artificial turf to have a specific license to do so. A copy of the landscaper’s license and insurance must be on file in our office before installation can be scheduled.

Be sure to pick up a current ARC Request Form from the Office. Information on the back will answer most common questions.

Note: The City of Paso Robles offers a partial rebate to those who are replacing irrigated lawns with artificial turf. To find out more about that visit https://www.prcity.com/475/Rebates-Incentives.

Do you have a question for the Quail Run Architectural Review Committee? Text or email your question to Roxana Lopez 805-296-7095, auntrocky@gmail.com.

How to solve sudoku puzzles

April Sudoku

No math is required to solve a sudoku. You only need logic and patience.

Simply make sure that each 3x3 square region has only one instance of the numbers 1-9. Similarly, each number can only

appear once in a column or row in the larger grid. The difficulty on this puzzle is easy.

The headline is a clue to the answer in the diagonal.

The lighter side

Psychiatry seminar

Psychiatry students were attending their first seminar. It was on emotional extremes. The professor wanted to establish some parameters, so he asked what they would say was the opposite of joy.

"Sadness," replied Mr. Nichols.

Ms. Biggs defined the opposite of depression as elation.

"And Mr. Martin, what is the opposite of woe?"

Bubba replied, "I believe that would be giddyup!"

The speeder

A man is stopped by police for speeding and the officer asks him for his license.

"I don't have one," the man says. "It was taken away for drunk driving."

So the officer asks for the man's vehicle registration.

"I don't have one," the man says. "This car is stolen and I've murdered the owner and stuck him in the trunk."

At this point, the officer calls for backup and in no time 10 police cars surround the stopped speeder.

The sergeant on the scene approaches the car and orders the man to open his trunk. He does and it is empty. The sergeant then asks for the man's driver's license. The man pulls out a valid license and vehicle registration.

"I don't get it," the sergeant says, "My officer here says you told him you had no license or registration and that you stole this car."

The man shakes his head and says, "I bet that liar told you I was speeding too."
